In April of 1912 the couple were returning from a tour of Europe and Asia. While in Cairo, Egypt Henry had acquired a dragoman (interpreter/guide) named Hammad Hassab; the presence of the handsome big mysterious servant would provide a topic of conversation among the 1st class passengers on the voyage home. Also joining them was Henry's Pekinese dog, Su-Yat-Sen. They boarded the RMS Titanic at Cherbourg, France as 1st class passengers and they occupied D-33. After the collision, were roused and went up to the boat deck where they later sat in the gymnasium. They ventured out onto starboard side and the Harpers, Hassan, and Sun-Yat-Sen were allowed to enter lifeboat 3.

They boarded lifeboat 3 were rescued by the RMS Carpathia at around 6:00 AM on the 15th. Henry was heard to remark on how small the rescue ship looked with it's one smokestack compared to the ship he had just been on.

After The Sinking/Later Life/Death:
Word had spread of their safety. Myra and Henry continued to live in Manhattan. She died there on November 14th, 1923 at the age of 60 and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, New York, eventually being joined by Henry and his new wife Annie when they also passed away.
