The Mark on Your Wrist(Tony Stark x fem!reader) Soulmate AU

Everyone was born with a birthmark on their wrist and only one other person in the world had the same. Your soulmate. The mark on your wrist was in the shape of a light bulb, which you found interesting. A symbol of inventiveness and cleverness. Still, you'd long given up on finding your soulmate. You didn't have time for all that when you were constantly having to save the world. Besides, you loved someone already and it would kill you to discover that he wasn't your soulmate. So, you kept your mark hidden. Until the one day you didn't.

Tony heard your grumbling before he saw you and he chuckled. He went ahead and poured your coffee and had it ready by the time you wandered into the kitchen. "Here you go, sweetheart." You gave him a sleepy smile before groaning. "Why did Natasha have to schedule our training so early this morning?" you mumbled, taking a sip of the coffee. Tony shrugged and reminded you that Natasha was leaving on a mission that afternoon.

Tony took the opportunity to study you. Your hair was still sticking up in several places, making it completely obvious that you'd just rolled out of bed. You were wearing pajama shorts and a long sleeve shirt. It always puzzled Tony that you wore long sleeves or thick bracelets all the time, even in the summer. Still, it was one of the quirks of yours that Tony found endearing. "Guess I should hurry up and go then, huh?" your voice caught Tony's attention and he turned away so you wouldn't catch him staring. "Yeah. See you around." You got up and left the room.

Tony let out a loud sigh as soon as you were gone. He was in so much trouble. He loved you. There was absolutely no denying it, not that he wanted to. The only problem was that Tony had yet to meet his soulmate and, if he found out it wasn't you, he'd be crushed. That's what happened with Pepper. Still, he'd fallen for you long ago and there was no falling out of love now. "Why don't you just tell her?" a voice came from above making Tony jump. "Dammit, Barton! How many times do I have to tell you to stay out of the vents?" Clint's laughter echoed through the vents as he continued on his trek.

Tony spent the rest of his morning in the kitchen. For once, the billionaire couldn't focus on work. His mind was far too busy. He finally saw you again a couple hours later. You were looking much more alert than you had before. You had your hair up in a ponytail and were wearing a pair of leggings with a sports bra. "Hey. Thanks again for the coffee this morning. I needed it. Nat put me through the ringer." Tony laughed, trying to keep his eyes from straying too far along your body.

He kept his eyes as close to your face as possible but when you reached for an apple, something caught his eye. Your mark. "Y/N?" You looked at him with a smile. "Yeah?" You took a bite of your apple and Tony shook his head. "Never mind. You're coming to the party tonight, right?" You nodded. "Wouldn't miss it, especially since Sam is playing bartender tonight. His drinks aren't nearly as strong as Nat's. I need to go shower before I start to stink up the place. See you later, Tony." Tony smiled as you left him alone in the kitchen again. Pulling up his sleeve, his smile widened at the light bulb shaped mark on his own wrist.

Later that night, Tony's eyes scanned the party for you. He hadn't seen you since that morning. "If you're looking for Y/N, she's talking with Thor and Steve." Tony closed his eyes, willing his temper to stay down. "Dammit, Barton. Stop that." Clint merely shrugged and went off to find someone else to talk to. "Are you finally gonna tell her?" Sam asked Tony. "None your business, Feathers." Sam held up his hands and went back to serving drinks.

Tony's gaze finally found your form and his jaw dropped open. You'd always been beautiful to him, but now that he was almost positive you were his soulmate, you looked downright stunning. His eyes were drawn to you in a way they never had been. Sure, he'd always felt close to you. Always wanted to protected and he'd felt a pull toward you but this was different. He had to know for sure.

He made he was over to you. "Y/N! You look terrific," he said, turning on the charm. You simply rolled your eyes at him, but smiled all the same. "Thanks, Tony. You look pretty great yourself." A slow song started playing and Tony offered his hand. "Dance with me?" You quirked a brow. "Uh...sure." You took his hand and let him walk you to the dance floor. You weren't sure what had gotten into him, but you liked it as Tony pulled you close and held you.

You leaned your head on his shoulder and breathed in the scent that was completely Tony. As his grip on your waist tightened slightly, you sighed in content. Your gaze traveled down is arm to the hand that was holding yours. His sleeve had ridden up a little, just enough for you to see the mark and you gasped. "Y/N, you okay?" You picked your head up, feeling the tears forming.

"It's you," you whispered. Tony's brows scrunched together in confusion. You took his hand and lead him to the nearest balcony. Away from the noise, you turned to face the man you loved. "It's you," you said again before reaching down and removing the thick bracelet you were wearing. Slowly, you revealed your mark to Tony, who beamed. "I knew it!" He grabbed your waist and picked you up, spinning you around once. "I knew that's what I saw this morning." He set you back down on the ground and kissed you deeply. "Yeah get it, Tony!" Tony broke away and you both yelled,"Dammit, Barton!".
