Nothing to be Ashamed Of(Bucky Barnes x fem!reader)

Bucky hadn't had a lot going for him after he fell off the train. Then, Steve found him and T'Challa succeeded in deprogramming his brain. After that, Bucky was asked to join the Avengers under Steve's watchful eye. He now had friends. A family. But, in all honesty, none of that helped Bucky feel like he belonged. Wanted. Then, he met you.

It hadn't taken long for the two of you to start dating and Bucky couldn't have been happier. That is, until the night you got a glimpse of his arm. The one Bucky had kept hidden under as many layers possible.

You'd been in the park walking off your dinner when you saw it. You'd gotten cold and Bucky, being the gentleman he was, immediately offered you his jacket. You glanced over and smiled when the glint of metal in the moonlight caught your attention. His shirt sleeve had ridden up a little, revealing a bit of his arm.

Bucky's eyes widened and he attempted to cover the arm back up. His blue eyes were downcast. "Hey," you said softly, making him look up at you, "It's okay." He shook his head. "No. This arm has done a lot of damage. A lot of horrible things." You'd never seen Bucky looking so ashamed of anything before. You gently took his metal hand in yours and, with your free hand, you pushed his sleeve up. He nearly pulled away, but your fierce gaze held him in place.

You took his other hand in yours and brought them up to your lips. After kissing them both, you smiled up at him. "I know, Buck, but I also know that this arm is capable of the most gentle things. It's part of you and is nothing to be ashamed of." Your gaze traveled to the arm in question. The plates shifted with every movement, just like the muscles in a flesh arm. "It's actually pretty cool," you said with a giggle.

Bucky just stared at you. "Really?" You nodded and Bucky leaned in to kiss you on the lips. "Thank you, Y/N." You shrugged. "Now, shall we finish our walk?" Bucky agreed. He tried to pull away again, but you looped your arm around his metal one and sighed in content. Bucky couldn't help but smile. Your stubbornness was something Bucky admired and he knew better than to argue. Besides, he was still surprised that you weren't acting all weird about his arm.

The two of you walked to your apartment arm-in-arm, just talking and laughing. Outside your door, you turned to Bucky. "Thanks for another great night, Buck." He grinned. "Anytime, Doll." You playfully rolled your eyes at the endearment. Bucky chuckled and started to reach up with his left hand to cup your cheek. Thinking better of it, he switched hands. Before Bucky could kiss you, you scoffed. You reached down, took his metal hand and placed it on your cheek. "I told you, Bucky, it's alright," you whispered.

Bucky nodded and you let go of his hand. You enjoyed the contrast of his cool metal against your warm cheek. Bucky's lips descended on yours. You smiled into the kiss and wrapped your arms around him. Bucky kept his metal hand on your face but his flesh arm moved around your waist. You pulled apart when you needed to breath. Bucky opened his eyes, but yours were still closed. "I love you,"he murmured.
