Little Notes (Steve Rogers x reader)

Yawning, you stretched your arm over to the other side of the bed to feel for your boyfriend. The only thing you felt was an empty space. You cracked open one eye to see that Steve wasn't there. On his pillow, there was a note. You picked it up and read it sleepily. You loved when Steve left you these little notes. They made you feel special.

Dearest Y/N,

I'm sorry I had to leave you this morning. I will be back in time for dinner.

I love you! Love,

Steve.

You smiled and got up. You threw on some clean clothes before making your way to the kitchen. On the coffee pot, there was another little note, telling you to be certain to eat a good breakfast. There was another on the bathroom mirror telling you just how beautiful he thought you were. There were notes scattered throughout the house. They all had some sweet message or other and each one made you smile. One of the many things you loved about Steve was his ability to make you smile every day. Even when he has been on a terrible mission, he did everything in his power to make you happy.

Your day went by as usual until the doorbell rang in the late afternoon. You got up from your spot at your desk, confused and made your way to the door. You took the long box from the delivery man and closed the door behind you. On the top of the box was another note.

Put this on and be ready to leave by 7pm. -Steve

You opened the box to find a new outfit. It was stunning. You glanced at the clock. 4pm. You had three hours to get ready. You couldn't help but wonder what was going on with your boyfriend. You took your time prepping for whatever Steve had planned and you'd just put the finishing touches on when the doorbell rang again. Tony's driver was waiting on the other side of the door and gave you a smile before handing you a single red rose with another note from Steve. You chuckled and followed the driver out to the car.

You did a double take. A limo? Now you were suspicious, but you got in the car anyway. After a few minutes of driving, the limo pulled to a stop outside your favorite restaurant. You beginning to realize what was happening. How could you not? Trust Steven Grant Rogers to be this cliché. You laughed to yourself and shook your head as you entered the restaurant. The only person there was Steve. He had another rose in his hand. "Hey, Doll."

You walked over to him and planted a deep kiss on his lips. "How are we the only ones here?" Steve explained that Tony had rented out the entire space for the evening. The two of you sat down to eat and you noticed that Steve was becoming more and more restless as the night went on. "Steve? You ok? You seem tense," you asked him when you noticed the beads of sweat forming on your boyfriend's forehead. He nodded before standing and coming around the table.

"Y/N, I have something to ask you." You turned your legs out from under the table to face him better. You held your breath as Steve got down on one knee in front of you. "I love you, Doll and I was wondering if you would do me the honor of..."Steve paused to take breath and it took everything in you not to cry before he continued is question, "...getting a puppy with me?" You stared down at him with wide eyes for a moment, unsure of what to say. Then, you began laughing uncontrollably.

"What's so funny? I'm being completely serious here, Y/N!" Steve cried, causing you to laugh even louder. Eventually, Steve started laughing too. When you finally calmed down, you said, "Let me get this straight. You planned this beautiful dinner and left me these sweet notes all over the place to ask me if I want to get a puppy?" He nodded sheepishly and then gazed at your face, flushed from giggling. "You really think I'd be so cliché as to do all this to propose? Come on, Doll give me some credit!"

You leaned forward and kissed him. "You are such a dork, Steven but you're my dork and I love you." He smiled at you, a sight that still made you weak in the knees. He stood and returned to his seat. "So...that's a no on the puppy then?" he asked, giving his best puppy pout. You shook your head fondly and replied, "You can have your puppy, Steve but I get to name it!" He stretched his hand across the table to shake yours. "Deal!"
