Flaw? (Steve Rogers x fem!reader)

Steve sat on the edge of his bed, his hands resting on his knees and his eyes locked on the empty space in front of him. "Steve?" The super soldier barely acknowledged your presence. "Steve?" you tried again, kneeling in front of him. You reached up and cupped his cheek. He moved one of his hands to rest over yours.

"What is it?" Your voice was barely above a whisper. "Zemo. I can't get him out of my head. The things he said." You tilted your head in confusion. Steve sighed and told you about Zemo's comments. Especially the one about it being nice to find a flaw.

"And this bothers you?" You were so confused as to why it troubled him so. Steve nodded. "I never realized how much people actually looked up to me. How many of them don't realize how flawed I really am. I never wanted to be seen as the perfect hero, Y/N. I just...wanted to give people hope. Can't people with character or physical flaws give that to the people?"

You stood slightly and slid into your boyfriend's lap. "Of course they can, Steve. It's the ones who work with their flaws or work to overcome them that give us the most hope. If one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes can have flaws and still save the world, then there is a chance for all of us to do the same." Steve wrapped his arms around you. "Don't let him get you down, Steve."

He looked up at you and smiled. You gazed into those stunning blue eyes that you loved. And yes, there were flecks of green in them, but that didn't matter. In those eyes, underneath the fatigued and worn down expression, you could still see the hope that sparked everything Steve Rogers was.

"Do you want to know what I see, Steve?" He nodded and you laughed softly. "I see a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders. A man who struggles every single day. I see a man who isn't perfect, but tries to be because he wants to give people hope and strength. I see a man who's flawed and a man whose flaws make me love him even more." Steve held you closer and continued to smile up at you, his eyes filling with tears. It was the first time you'd said those words and it was when Steve needed to hear them most.

"I love you too, Y/N," he whispered, "Thank you." You smiled down at him and kissed the tip of his nose. "Anything for you, Steve." For a few moments, the two of you just sat there, content to be in each other's company. Then, you kissed Steve's lips and said, "Now, come on. We're in Wakanda and you are going to go out with me to enjoy some of the cuisine." Steve chuckled let you go.

You stood up but didn't make it far before Steve's arms wrapped around you again. "Can the date wait, Doll? I really just want to stay in and cuddle with my best girl." His face was slightly red, as if he were embarrassed to ask. "Oh, Stevie, of course we can stay in tonight. Let me go get changed into my pajamas and I'll be right back. Why don't you set up a movie on Netflix?" Steve agreed and reluctantly let you go.

You returned to the room a few minutes later to find Steve already lying on the bed. "There she is." You rolled your eyes and he opened his arms. You ran over and jumped on the bed, making Steve bounce a little. The two of you shared a laugh before you cuddled into your boyfriend. His arms wrapped around you. He kissed your temple and whispered, "I love you, Doll." You looked into his eyes and assured him that you loved him too. Those eyes of his captivated you once more. Yes, for all his flaws, you most definitely loved him.
