We Took His Lid

//LEGENDS OF TOMORROW\\

//WE TOOK HIS LID\\

"Please don't do this." She begged.

Erin just advanced on her, not even caring.

"Come on, look, it's me. Remember me?" She pleaded.

But Erin couldn't remember her, Erin just saw a person, her prey.

She stalked closer and closer to her until it was only 3 feet that kept them apart.

Tears streamed down her face but that had no affect on Erin.

All Erin knew was that she had to kill.

"I'm not going to hurt you." She cried. "Please remember me. It's Sara, come on please."

Erin just growled in response, lunging towards her and aiming for her neck.

Erin jolted, her eyes darting around the room looking rapidly for Sara.

Soft fingers stroked through her hair and Erin turned to see the one person she wanted most right now.

Sara.

Erin lets out a sigh, it was just a dream, no, a nightmare.

Sara smiles down at Erin but doesn't say anything, giving her the chance to speak first.

Erin lifts her head off the assassins lap and, instead of saying something, pulls her into a hug.

Without hesitation Sara hugs her back.

"I'm so so sorry." Erin speaks.

Sara rubs her back soothingly, replying "It's okay, really it's okay. I'm okay."

Erin pulls back and looks into Sara's eyes to make sure she's telling the truth.

When she believes her, another thought crosses her mind and she frantically searches the floor, wondering if what happened was real or not.

"Hey. Hey, look at me." Sara places her hands on Erin's cheeks making the brunette meet her eyes.

"It's not there anymore, I had Ray put it away. Why would you do something like that?" Erin can see the concern that floods through Sara's face as she talks.

But something else crosses her mind.

"R-Ray was in here?" She stammers.

"He doesn't know anything, just thought you were sick and the knife was from our mission."

Erin nods slightly, zoning out and remember exactly what happened just a few hours prior.

"Why?" Sara cautiously repeats.

Sara moves her hands to intertwine them in Erin's.

"I-I Uh," Erin doesn't meet Sara's gaze as she tries to explain.

"I thought, you know, maybe, uh without me," Erin gulps, she closes her eyes being too afraid to meet Sara's.

"without me maybe you'd be better off." She gets out quickly.

When Erin opens her eyes she notices a look of confusion on Sara's face as she shakes her head.

"Why would you think that?" Sara immediately asks.

"Because um, I've done more harm then I've ever done you good."

Sara doesn't accept that and immediatly she is convincing Erin otherwise.

"No, no that is not true." Erin just shakes her head when the assassin speaks but Sara doesn't give her time to deny it.

"You've always protected me, since day one, literally. You remember that big girl when we first met, the one that wouldn't leave me alone? Who stepped in and punched her for me and kept her away?"

Erin looks down, knowing it was her and that Sara was right, but still not being able to admit it to herself.

"But I've sti-" Sara cuts her off, "No buts. It was you. You kept me safe and you protected me and you still do."

"What about our training? I didn't protect you then. A-and the Pilgrim, I-I," Erin isn't able to finish but Sara knows exactly what she means.

"I'm here aren't I? I'm here, I'm safe, I'm okay. You didn't do anything wrong, I'm still safe." Sara reassures her.

Erin still isn't able to believe it, "It could have been so much worse, I could have k-killed you."

"You didn't." There's only a moment of silence and Sara quickly breaks it.

"Do you trust me?" Erin looks at her and knows the answer before she even finishes the question.

"With my life."

Sara then says, "Then please trust me when I say you are the best person to ever walk into my life and all you ever do is make things better and put a smile on my face."

Erin looks at her and allows a slight smile to pull at her lips, "You're not smiling now."

Sara just laughs, "You're gonna do this to me now?"

"well I mean, now you're smiling." Erin chuckles.

"And I stand my ground."

Both girls laugh, grateful that the mood is lighten just a bit.

Timing seems to be perfect as a knock sounds at the door. The girls allow the person to come in and the doors open to show Ray standing there.

"Hey," He says to both girls who just look at him.

He directs his gaze to Erin, "How are you feeling?"

She smiles at him, saying "Better, thanks."

Now it's Sara's turn to be talked to, "Captain wants you for the mission, they leave in 5."

Erin and Sara meet eyes and Sara sends the silent question, asking if it's okay to leave.

"It's okay, you can go I'll be fine." Erin reassures her girlfriend.

Sara turns to Ray, "Just give me a few minutes." She tells him.

Understandingly, Ray nods his head and leaves the two girls to have a private moment.

"Are you sure you'll be okay? I don't have to go, I would rather be here with you so I know you're okay."

Erin shakes her head, not wanting to hold back the blonde, "I'll be fine, I'll even go to the bridge and be with whoever isn't going, if that helps you to feel better."

Sara smiles and nods, "Okay, thank you."

Erin places a soft, quick kiss on Sara's cheek, "No, thank you. I don't know what I would do without you. I love you."

"I love you too." Sara replies.

The two hug and then help each other up.

"Now go change and kick some ass." Erin smiles.

"I'll see you when I get back." The two share a short kiss and  Erin leaves Sara to get changed, heading to the bridge.

***********

"Here we stand at the edge of history." Erin listens over the coms.

She sits in the bridge with Stein, Ray and Kendra. it was Sara, Snart, Mick and Rip that went on the mission, with Jax being their getaway driver. Or, well, flyer.

Erin soon learned what the mission was.

With their younger selves removed from the timeline they couldn't afford to take the time and track down Savage. They traveled 2166, the time where Savage has already conquered the world.

That's who they were listening too right now, Savage.

He was giving a speech to his army who was ready to march into another battle. Sara, Snart, Rip and Mick were among this army, trying to find a window to capture or kill Savage.

Savage finished his speech as Erin decided on a comfortable position to sit in the chair; her legs criss crossed and her hands in her lap.

As she begins to unravel her bandaged hand she hears Sara say "There's no way we can grab him here. Not with an army standing between us."

"Sh." Mick shushes them, "I'm trying to listen, this guy gives one hell of a speech."

Erin rolls her eyes at the pyro and finishes unwrapping her hand.

She examines it, 5 stitches on both sides in the top corner of her hand.

Snart and Rip continue to speak over the coms but Erin is too busy studying her hand to pay attention to what they are saying.

She notices that however she had been stabbed, it managed to miss her bones, the stitches run laterally between the bones of her middle and pointer finger.

She recognized the technique anywhere and automatically can tell that Sara was the one to stick up her hand.

She lightly runs her finger over the stitches, trying to remember exactly what had happened to cause her hand to be stabbed.

She winces in pain when she accidentally pushes too hard on her injured hand.

She listens half-heartedly as Snart talks about a woman working with Savage and soon Kendra is focused one a bracelet that the woman is wearing.

By the desperation in everyone's voice Erin can guess that things have already gone wrong.

She is soon on her feet and joining Kendra and Ray at the centre table to look at the live footage.

Erin calms down when she hears Sara's irritated voice. "Are you seriously jewelry shopping right now?" She complains to Kendra while fighting a woman.

Erin can only assume this is Savages accomplice that Snart was talking about.

"We're outnumbered." Rip finally realizes, "Fall back!"

"Mr. Jackson now would be a good time to pick us up." Rip says as the jump ship flies in and gives them a lift out.

"Well that went...as expected." Erin remarks.

She receives looks from both Ray and Kendra to which she shrugs at.

They turn to face the oncoming remaining Legends who they can hear bickering from down the hall.

The three can't seem to make out what they're saying until the 5 are closer to the door.

"Yes, well, I could have been killed." Erin can hear Rip complain from down the hall.

Just as they enter the room Snart smirks, "I never said it worked perfectly."

Sara speaks up trying to change the subject. "At least it wasn't a complete bust."

Half of the team gives her a 'really?' look, but the other half seem to understand.

"We found out about Kendra's bracelet." Sara adds on.

This sentence perks Erin's interest and the Captain seems to be following as well.

"What bracelet?" Rip curiously asks.

Kendra begins to explain the story behind the piece of jewellery Savage's partner was wearing.

"My bracelet I was wearing the night of my first death."

"That's great!" Rip exclaims, latching onto Kendra's idea.

Feeling bad for the hawk goddess, Erin quickly adds in "Not the death part."

Ray nods his head in agreement, "Yes, that's terrible. But you told us that objects present the night of your death can be used to kill Savage."

"I'm your fiancée,"

Erin tries not to act surprised at the news, she hadn't heard anything about this before.

"I listen to you." Ray finishes.

After the Wild West Erin had thought Kendra wasn't even still interested in Ray.

"And that's sweet," Kendra smiles. "but there's still one problem."

When Kendra pauses Erin decides it's her time to speak up.

"How the hell do you kill someone with a bracelet?"

"A question we will answer once we have obtained it." Rip says, quickly dismissing the topic and rounding towards his office.

He points to Snart and Rory, "We need our resident kleptomaniacs to steal that bracelet."

Suddenly Gideon interrupts the group. "Captain, I've detected movement 300 metres southwest of our position and closing."

"Savage's army?" Erin asks the AI but she responds with a "Negative."

"I believe they are all that remains of the resistance forces."

"I'm going to make contact with them." Rip's statement causes Erin to raise an eyebrow, not sure if that was truly a good idea.

Martin clues in, "They might have information on Savage that we can use to our advantage."

Rip nods his head and beckons for Jax, Stein and Ray to follow him. "In the meantime," He says as he walks out, "Ms. Lance, get Ms. Saunders ready."

Sara looks at him in disbelief, she looks as though she wasn't sure if she had heard him right.

"How am I suppose to teach someone to fight with a piece of jewelry?" She asks.

Rip nods his head and begins to walk away, "Good question." He quips.

Sara shakes her head and yells after him throwing her hands up in frustration and confusion. "It wasn't rhetorical!"

She sighs when Rip doesn't answer and then turns to the pair of criminals. "Do you have a plan for stealing this bracelet?"

"We're on it." Snart says cooley.

Erin can already tell the plan is stupid.

So she asks, "Please tell me the plan is not just to waltz in and snatch it off her wrist?"

Snart smirks and that's when Erin knows she's right.

"All right, i won't tell you that."

Sara rolls her eyes and Erin can tell she's had enough of this team for one day.

Erin turns on her heels and follows the two girls out of the bridge and towards the cargo bay.

"We still have the issue of how to turn a piece of jewelry into a weapon." Sara voices as they reach the cargo bay.

They silently agree to begin looking through all of Kendra's past things, which included Carter's and Aduls' as well.

"Maybe your son mentioned something about it in his diary?" Erin thinks aloud.

Kendra only shakes her head as she opens the first box full of things, Erin and Sara stand near her and observe.

"I doubt it." She tells them. "I've read through his research a thousand times."

"Just look into it." Erin encourages.

"Maybe there's something you missed or didn't notice before."

After Erin's words Kendra seems to get lost for a second. She doesn't say or do anything and the girlfriends toss an odd glance at eachother.

"Kendra?" Erin snaps to get her attention.

She sends a confused glance at Sara who shrugs, takes off her shoe and tosses it at Kendra's back.

This seems to knock Kendra out of her daze as she blinks a few times then looks at the two with an idea.

"What is it?" Erin asks her.

"I think I know what we can use to kill Savage."

Erin smirks, happy to have a win on their side for once.

Kendra looks at the floor where Sara's shoe lays beside her. She then looks to Sara and notices her feet.

"Did you throw your shoe at me?" She half scoffs half laughs.

Sara throws her arms up in a way to say 'I don't know.' and then responds with a "Maybe."

Kendra laughs in disbelief, but a playful kind of laugh. She picks up the shoe and throws it back at Sara who easily dodges it then smirks.

"You can't get me that easy." She laughs at Kendra.

Suddenly something hits her lightly in the back of the head.

When she turns around she see's Erin standing behind her with her arms crossed and a smile playing on her lips.

The shoe lies at Sara's feet as Erin remarks, "But I can."

Sara snatches her shoe from the floor and puts it back on her foot sticking her tongue out to Erin like a child, which receives laughs from all three girls.

The girls spend the next hour or so sitting in the cargo bay, going through boxes of Kendra, Carter, and Aduls' stuff while Kendra explains her plan to them.

Erin was nearing the end of a box full of pictures when Snart and Mick boarded the ship, except they brought someone along with them.

A blonde girl followed them, a bit relentlessly, and after a moment Erin recognized her as the girl Sara had been fighting with earlier.

The three girls just watched them silently while the blonde sent glares to everyone in the room.

Mick tosses the bracelet to Kendra and then the two criminals leave the room with the blonde lady, not saying a word.

Erin sends a glance to both Kendra and Sara before asking "Who the hell is she?"

Both Kendra and Sara shrug before going back to their work, they all knew Rip would deal with it when he came back on board.

It wasn't long before the unspoken-of man walked on board with Jax, Ray and Stein in tow.

"We've got a new visitor on board, curtesy of the criminals." Erin informs him without even looking up.

She was stacking papers back into the box, looking them over once more before putting them away.

Erin could practically hear the anger radiating off of him as she stared at a black and white picture of past Kendra and Carter in their hawk costumes standing outside a large building that had an M on the front gate.

She could see a small girl with long, dark hair intently watching them from behind the fence of the building but she didn't seem important, maybe only a by-stander. Erin couldn't find any relevance to the bracelet in the picture and so decided to pack it away with the others.

The three girls stood as Rip left the room and followed him towards the bridge.

As the group walked onto the bridge they all spotted Snart and Mick.

Snart seemed to be watching a monitor, most likely the blonde woman they brought on, and Mick was sitting on the steps of Rip's office drinking a beer.

"And here I thought we could go a whole week without kidnapping someone." Rip muses.

"It's a little more difficult than that, she knew my name." Snart fires back.

Erin approaches the screen and watches the blonde lady. She looks up into the camera and smirks as if she knows that Erin is watching.

Erin just looks away from the camera and focuses back on the conversation as someone asks "How?"

Snart scoffs, "I don't know, why don't you just go ask her."

"Okay." Erin sates simply.

She makes her way over to the door when Ray asks, "Wait, you're serious?"

Erin turns around to face Ray. "That's the best way to get answers, is to talk."

Erin turns around and walks through the doors.

As she leaves she can hear someone sigh and say something inaudible and suddenly Sara is at her side walking with her to the brig.

Erins sends a smile at Sara who speaks up right after, "You seem in an oddly good mood."

Erin thinks about it as they walk.

Considering the events of the past 24 hours she did seem oddly happy. Why she was? She couldn't explain that, not even to herself.

"Yeah." Erin nods in response. "I don't know, even with that stuff that happened I just can't help but feel happy."

Erin then thought some more before voicing a thought to Sara. "Stein told me I could talk to him about what happened with my dad, do you think I should?"

Sara seems almost surprised by the question, almost.

"Do you trust him?" She asks Erin, causing the brunette to think for a moment before answering "Yes."

Sara nods and then meets Erin's eyes, telling her "If you trust him and you feel like your ready then talk to him, sometimes a fresh set of ears can be what you need."

Erin nods in agreement before smiling at Sara. "Have I ever told you that you're the best girlfriend ever?"

Erin bumps Sara lightly with her shoulder and Sara pretends to think for a moment.

"Hm," Sara smiles, "I don't think it's ever come up."

Sara throws her arm over Erin's shoulder and laughs.

"Well, now it has." Erin tells her.

Just as their conversation dies down the two woman reach the doors to the brig and Erin is the first to walk through.

The blonde woman stands still, but follows the two Legends with her eyes as they enter the room.

Erin and Sara stand directly across from Savage's accomplice and stare at her.

Erin breaks the silence. "So, you know Leonard Snart? What did he do to you? Stand you up on a date a few months back?"

The woman ignores Erin's comment and merely says "I know all of you, Ms. Cooper, Ms. Lance."

Erin eye's her warily.

She makes another comment and tilts her head, "You two do make a nice couple. It's a shame you'll have to be executed for capturing me."

"Now I'm curious," Sara speaks up. "Why would Savage go through that much trouble for a simple soldier?"

The girl inside the cage laughs at them. "You're a fool if you think I am merely Savage's soldier. I'm not his lieutenant. I'm his daughter."
