Sandstorm

//LEGENDS OF TOMORROW\\

//SANDSTORM\\

A/N I suggest you all go read ladyawesome45321 book Sandstorm! Her character is making a special appearance in this chapter!

"You sure about this?"

Erin nods her head as she sits on the bed in the med bay.

"I need to know what I saw." She tells Sara.

Sara raises her eyebrows, "You're sure we should be doing this without the scientists?"

Erin looks up to the roof and comments "I think you hurt Gideon's feelings by questioning her skills."

Sara just laughs before lightly pushing Erin over. Instead of falling over Erin slowly lays herself down on the bed.

"Blue one on the left?" Sara double checks before Gideon responds and tells her "That's correct."

Sara carefully and strategically takes the small blue wire and sticks the round end onto Erin's left temple. She takes the same looking wire, except this one is red, and sticks it to Erin's right temple.

She brushes back the two french braids behind Erin's shoulder and looks into the brunette's eyes. "You're 100 percent sure you want to do this? Especially with Savage on board?"

Without hesitation Erin nods her head. "If I don't do it now I may never have the chance. And maybe this might help me figure out what's happening with the panther side of me."

Sara nods in understanding before taking the small needle and poking it into a vein on Erin's arm.

Erin flinches a bit but doesn't say or do anything else as Sara connects the tube to the needle.

"Okay Gideon, do your thing." Sara tells the AI.

A thin, blue liquid starts to travel through the tube and into Erin's arm.

Sara grabs her girlfriends hand and gives it a squeeze.

The blue visibly travels through Erin's veins, traveling up her arm, through her shoulder and then into her neck.

The blue travels up her neck and reaches across her face, spreading and causing Erin to close her eyes and take a deep breath.

She's suddenly not lying down anymore. Nobody is holding her hand and there is no pinch in her arm or slight pressure on her head.

She opens her eyes to find herself wearing the same white tank top and black leggings that she was moments ago.

The ground seems dark, it's gravel. Her two braids swing around as she spins to look at her surroundings.

She's on a street, the road is gravel and there's sidewalks on either side but the street is otherwise empty.

She spins to look behind her, finding the same emptiness.

When Erin turns back around again, she doesn't see emptiness.

The street is buzzing with activity.

People walk on either side of the sidewalk, some old and some young, even some children run, weaving their way through the crowds. They laugh and some sing, some walk distracted while others hang onto their parents hands paying close attention. Buildings of all sorts line both sidewalks, signs are everywhere but Erin can't seem to read the words on any of them.

A black car turns the corner behind Erin and heads straight for her at a constant speed. Erin turns around to face the car and before she can react the car drives straight through her, as if she was a ghost.

She looks at all her surroundings, she isn't really sure what to make of it all. But that's when she see's it.

That familiar building.

Where did she see it again? She couldn't remember. The big 'M' on the building looked so familiar but she just couldn't place it.

"I think you're suppose to go in there." A voice suddenly says.

Erin spins around, confused at the fact that someone was talking to her when she was a ghost in this world.

When Erin spins to face the voice she comes face to face with a tall, dark skinned girl. She has long, dark and curly hair and stands in the middle of the street.

Her arms rested at her side but it was obvious where her statement was directed as she stared from Erin to the building.

"Who are you?" Erin asks the woman.

The woman takes a step closer and Erin takes a cautious step back. The unfamiliar woman seems to take the hint and doesn't advance any further. "I'm Deserey, but you can call me Dez."

"I'm Erin."

Erin doesn't look away in fear her new companion will disappear.

"What are you doing here?" She asks the woman.

Dez thinks for a moment but shrugs as a response. "I'm not actually sure to be honest. I don't even know how I got here. I think I'm dreaming. Man I could do some weird crazy stuff right now and there would be no consequences. I could totally give someone a smartphone right now, although Rip would be pissed if I did." The woman seems to ramble until the mention of a certain Brit.

"Wait," Erin halts her. "did you say Rip?"

"Yeah." the girl answers quickly. "That's my captain, It's got a long story so I won't bother telling it."

"I think I'm hallucinating." Erin mumbles to herself. She knows there could be other people out there named Rip who are captains, or this girl could be some figment of her imagination but it somehow all seems so real to her, too real to be made up.

"I still don't know what I'm doing here, sometimes I never know why I'm here." The last part was whispered but Erin was still able to catch it. Although Deserey is talking again before she can say anything. "But I do know that you're suppose to go into that building." She points to the tall brick building with the 'M' on it. "And I'm suppose to go with you."

"Why?" Erin asks as she allows Deserey to come a little closer. "To give you company. Something is telling me you'll need a friend after what you're going to see in there."

Skeptical as always, Erin narrows her eyes at the other girl, "How am I suppose to trust you?"

Dez looks around before shrugging, "Do you really see any other options?"

Erin nods. but doesn't let her guard down completely.

"Plus, as to quite every movie ever, if I was a bad guy you wouldn't be alive right now."

Erin nods her head again. She takes a cautious step towards the building.

The gate opens by itself as the two get closer.

They are able to walk past the tall fencing without any interruptions.

They walk along the pebbled path up to the building. The grass surrounding the pebbled path is dead and brown, giving both Erin and Deserey a bad feeling.

As they walk up the cobblestone steps Deserey looks to Erin. "What even is this place?" She asks.

As Erin stares at the tall wooden doors she answers "That's what I'm here to find out."

"This looks like something out of Doctor Who." Dez comments.

Erin's hand wraps around one of the golden and shiny doorknobs connected to the dark door. She twists it and gives the door a push in, allowing it to swing inwards and creak on it's hinges.

The two stare inside the dark building. No lights are on making it difficult to see what lies ahead.

Before Erin travels through the door she notices a sign engraved into the wall on her right.

She stares at the sign for a moment trying to figure out exactly what I means.

"Маркхам Асилум" is what the sign reads.

Erin doesn't bother trying to figure out what the sign means and instead ventures into the dark hallways of the building.

Dez follows her and closes the door quietly behind them.

Once inside, both girls find that it is much easier to see than they expected.

"Remember, we're like ghosts in here, no one can see or hear us." Erin reminds the other girl.

Dez nods her head and the two continue further into the building.

As they walk they check their surroundings.

To their left is a big room filled with tables and chairs, a tall, long glass chandelier hangs from the ceiling over the smooth and shiny oak tables. A single flower in a vase sits in the middle of each of the 5 tables and all of the dozens of seats at the tables are neatly tucked in, looking nearly identical to on another as if they were measured out to perfection.

"Creeppyyy" Dez mumbles.

Looking straight, the girl's notice the hallway stretches on for what seems like forever. Doors line both sides of the hallway and each sparkling white door is closed. On each door is a piece of tape sticking from the doorframes to the doors. It reminds Erin of something her teacher did when she was on a school trip and they stayed overnight in a hotel. The teachers had stuck tape to everyones doors so that way if the students left their rooms after curfew the tape would be ripped and the teachers would know about it.

Instead of traveling down the hall Erin looks to her right to see a big wide staircase.

About 3 metres in width, the giant staircase looked as though it could fit thousands of kids at a time.

Another chandelier hung above it, identical to the one in the other room behind them.

The staircase was covered with a dark carpet, designs of circles drawn into it. The main staircase went up a few steps before it broke off into two separate staircases, one heading left and one heading right.

Erin couldn't tear her eyes from the staircase, feeling as though something was pulling her towards it, wanting her to follow it.

"Up here." She says to Deserey who follows her without question.

Dez was lost in her own thoughts, trying to figure out how she had gotten here. She knew she was suppose to help this girl but she couldn't quite think about why her of all people had been chosen to do so.

Why was Dez so special? Why did it have to be her who helped this girl?

She didn't have much more time to think. The two girls had answers to find and her own stupid thoughts could wait till later to be discussed.

The two walked up the stairs with Erin in the lead. Erin decides to head up the right staircase.

Both sets of stairs lead to the same place so it didn't matter to Erin which side she took.

The pair walks up the stairs.

"Where are we going?" Dez ask's a little hesitantly.

"Um." Erin looks at her surroundings as she reaches the top of the stairs.

To her left is the other set of stairs and three long hallways, one that goes left, one that goes straight and one that goes right. She can't see what is down the right hallway as it is blocked by a wall and she can only see part of the left hallway but the hallway that goes straight is clear to both of them.

The same white doors line the hallway as they did downstairs. Tape is put across these doors as well and at the very end of the hall is a big heavy metal door.

Erin moves to look to the right side but Dez lightly grabs her arm. When Erin looks back Dez is staring at something in front of them.

Erin follows her gaze to the wall infront of them, positioned at the top of the stairs.

Along this wall are millions of portraits of all different people, mostly children.

In the centre are two large paintings, one of a man and one of a woman. The man is standing, angling his body to the right and has dark hair combed perfectly to the side. His clean white-rimmed glasses sit perfectly on his face and his hands are folded together in his lap with not a single wrinkle showing in his suit. His mouth is a straight line, no smile and no frown and his green eyes seem as if they stare straight into your soul. His portrait is framed with a gold lining and beside him is another portrait framed with gold.

This picture is of a woman with green eyes and dark hair as well. Her body is angled to face the left and her perfectly straight hair falls to her mid back and has a perfect straight part down the middle on her head. She wears a blue dress with three yellow buttons on the top and her matching coloured heels seem to add an inch or two to her height. Her hands are folded in her lap as an expensive bracelet hangs from her right hand; a shiny bracelet surround by what looks to be diamonds. She wears neither a frown nor smile as well.

In between the man and the woman a golden plaque is mounted on the wall. The plaque reads 'XeaДмасТерс.'

On both the left and the right of the man and woman are portraits of children. The portraits are smaller in size and instead of gold surrounding the paintings, it's silver. the children all appear to be standing, unlike the man and woman had been.

As Erin and Dez stare at the paintings of children they notice no similar features in any of them. The only thing that seems to be the same is that all boys are on the left side, angling their bodies to face the man and all girls are on the right side angling their bodies to face the woman. All the children are dressed in either white suits or white dresses and all their hair looks to be styled exactly the same.

Each child has a silver plaque under their painting with what both girls can only guess are their names on it.

Erin's eyes trail over the paintings, looking for a sense of familiarity.

She comes across a painting of a girl and something strikes a cord in her head. She recognizes that girl from somewhere. The girls dark hair travels down to her butt and her bangs sit perfectly aligned on her forehead. She looks young, no older than 10 maybe. Looking down to the silver plaque underneath the portrait Erin reads the name ПројецТ ПанТхер.

Dez notices the painting Erin's staring at and says "If this girl's name is Annabelle I'm out of here."

Erin finally looks to her right and before she can take in her surroundings her feet are carrying her in that direction.

She can sense Deserey following behind her.

When Erin reaches the three identical hallways to the other side she notices a large metal door at the end of each hall.

She turns left and walks down the hall lined with white doors and tape and she finds herself stopping outside the door with the girl's name on it.

ПројецТ ПанТхер.

Erin tosses a look at Dez who seems just as skeptical as she does.

"If I've learned anything from horror movies, it's a bad idea to open the creepy door in the creepy building but it happens anyways." Dez mumbles to herself which causes Erin to laugh a little.

"Yeah, well I finally get why they open the door." Erin says this more to herself than to Dez.

Erin's hand grips over the shiny doorknob and twists it. She pushes the white door open and the only sound to be made is the tape ripping off of the doorframe.

When the two peer inside the room they notice a desk sitting right across from the door. The desk has a piece of paper and three crayons laying on it, a single desk lamp sits in the top corner and above it is a picture of the little girl sitting in between the man and the woman, but none of them are smiling. To the left Erin notices a white dresser with four long drawers. On top of the dresser is a landscape picture of multiple girls, all dressed in white, and again, none of them are smiling.

When both girls look to the left, they notice a single person bed. The simple bed frame is white and a clean white sheet drapes over a small little body.

"What do we do now?" Dez asks as they stare at the figure.

Erin shakes her head.

"I don't know."

The girls take a few steps in from the doorway and stand silently, staring from each other to the small, sleeping girl.

A loud bell echoes through the room. Both girls look at each other with worried expressions as they turn to leave. Only the door is now closed, neither girl had done it though.

There's movement from the corner of their eyes and Deserey is suddenly looking down to her side fearfully as if looking for something that's suppose to be there.

They both turn to face the figure.

The little girl is getting out of bed but she doesn't seem to notice either Erin or Dez.

"Please tell me you know an exorcism." Dez says while not taking her eyes off the girl.

The two woman relax a bit but still stay staring at the little girl.

"Sadly I skipped that class." Erin mumbles back.

The girl's long hair is messy and her bangs stick out to either side. Her long white nightgown sways side to side as she jumps out of bed and turns around to grab her sheet.

She pulls the sheet off the bed and stands with it in her small hands for a moment.

A second bell echoes through the room.

The girl turns around to face the empty floor, spreading her sheet out neatly in front of her. She grabs a corner of the sheet and neatly folds it towards the other.

"Yep. She's defiantly Annabelle."  Deserey says, referring to the girls creepy-like movements.

"Oh god we're gonna get possessed."

When a third bell echoes through the room the sheet is neatly folded into a square and is placed neatly in the middle of the girl's bed.

The little girl stands at the foot of her bed facing the door. Her hands are folded in front of her and she would look like an emotionless drone if it weren't for the silent tears sliding down her face.

The girl quickly wipes them away and then no more seem to fall after that.

The door swings open gracefully and the woman from the portrait stands there.
She is wearing the same blue dress and matching heels that she wore in the painting.

"Projekt Pantera, korak naprijed." She says to the little girl.

The girl walks towards the woman and stops in front of her at the door.

The woman in blue reaches out her hand and softly smooths down the girl's bangs. If it weren't for the cold expression on the woman's face Erin would guess that the woman actually cared.

"Vreme je za jelo."

The little girl nods her head and follows the woman out of the door.

Erin and Dez are quick to jog after them.

When both girls step outside the doorway they are no longer in the building. Instead, they are back on the street they first started on.

"No no no!" Erin says as she turns circles in a panic.

She needs to know what happens.

Who was that girl?

Why is she so drawn to her?

Why does she feel so familiar?

Erin needs answers.

She needs them.

Two hands stop her from spinning and Erin looks into Deserey's eyes.

"You need to calm down." She says to the brunette.

Erin takes in a breath, closing her eyes and nodding.

"You'll figure it out, i don't know you that well but i can tell you're a smart girl." Dez pauses for a moment before saying.

"You just need to remember."

"You need to remember."

Remember.

She just needs to remember.

Remember.

Remember.

Erin's panting as she sits up.

Beads of sweat drop down the side of her forehead and her eyes dart around the room for Sara.

The woman just mentioned places her hands onto Erin's forearm, causing her to relax slightly.

Erin reaches up to her temple and yanks the wires off of her head. She spins her legs over the edge of the bed and slides the needle out from her arm as well.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Sara asks her.

Erin looks into the blonde's eyes. And instead of answering her question, she says "I need a drink."
