I Wondered What Happened To His Body

//LEGENDS OF TOMORROW\\

//I WONDERED WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS BODY\\

"I'm gonna make this very simple for you, Mr. Blake." The girls hear Rip begin as they walk into the room. "You tell me where Vandal Savage is hiding his fortune and we will let you leave here unmolested."

The man tied to the chair only laughs, "Vandal Savage is the name you know him by?"

"Lets just assume that, yeah." Erin speaks up.

"And what is your name?" He turns back to Rip. "Gareeb?"

Both girls toss him a questioning look. "Will you give us a moment?" Rip asks them.

"Gareeb?" Sara asks.

"It's a legend passed down for 4,000 years." Blake says trying to draw their attention. "When my master was first bestowed the gift of eternal life, an enemy tried to kill him." Erin tosses Rip a stare while Blake continues, "Every myth has its monster, its devil. For those of our order, it's him, Gareeb."

"I'd stop talking now if I were you, mate." Rip interrupts, trying to obviously hide something from both girls, Erin knew it wouldn't be anything good once they found out.

"If I were you, I'd run." The man says, still maintaining his attention on both girls.

"Your friend has already failed to kill my master once. He won't be able to protect you. In fact," His attention now directs towards the Captain. "I highly doubt he's ever been able to protect anyone."

Rip leaves the room, obligating both Erin and Sara to follow him out to the hall. "What did he mean you already tried to kill Savage?" Was the very first thing said once they had left the room.

Rip answers Saras question saying "Leave it be, Sara."

"No," Erin steps in, "If you want us to do this-" "Yes, okay!" Rip cuts her off. "I-i had the chance to kill Savage once before. I had him dead to rights and I hesitated."

He begins to walk away but Erin grabs his arm, pulling him back towards the pair. "Who are you, Gareeb?" She asks.

"Killing is never easy, especially for a good man." Sara adds.

"But the man killed my wife and son and God knows how many other wives and sons, and yet I couldn't." Rip counters. "Your killing people doesn't make you a monster, Sara, but having the chance to avenge your family and not taking it, that does."

Before either woman has the chance to answer, Rip walks back into the holding cell, so they follow.

"Lets try this again." Erin mumbles.

"Back for more?" Their enemy questions.

"Where's Savage's fortune? Now, I'm particularly interested in this thing called the 'vessel'." Rip begins. The man responding with, "The vessel is my masters most treasured possession."

"Excellent," Erin claps her hands together "and where can we find it?" She asks.

"The Greyhill building." He answers quickly. "There's a gathering tonight in celebration of it."

"And clearly you want us to go so we can get ourselves killed." Rip retorts.

"Clearly." Mr. Blake echos.

"What is the vessel?" Sara finally speaks up.

Blake is quick to answer this one as well, "It's the remains on Prince Khufu of the Middle Kingdom. I believe you know him as Carter Hall."

"Oh, I wondered what happened to his body." Erin thinks out loud.

"What is Savage going to do with Carters body?" Sara asks as the trio heads out of the room.

"Well, there's only one way to find out, isn't there?" Rip insists. "Gideon, locate the Greyhill building- and set a course."

"Wait." Sara interferes, "We have have a plan. Going after Savage's fortune."

"Yeah, well, not anymore! I won't let Carter's remains be desecrated by that monster. I won't let him win again." Rip tells Sara, with Erin agreeing.

"Sara," Erin touches her arm, causing the assassin to look at her, "He's right, for Carter, remember?"

Sara sighs, then gives in. "Fine. Then at least let us go in with the rest of the team."

All three people look up at the roof, "Gideon?" Rip speaks.

The AI responds with "Sir, Mr. Snart, Mr. Rory, and Mr. Jefferson are no longer aboard the ship."

"Great." Erin sighs at a the fact that they have no backup. "Let's just go" Sara urges, pulling both along with her.

They arrive at the party, with Mr. Blake accompanying them. "Ah, Mr. Blake. Welcome." The man at the main gate says. "I take it Mrs. Blake is out of town?" He asks.

Sara presses the gun to Mr. Blake's arm, urging him to agree. "That is a very pointed observation." He answers.

The man lets them through and into the parking lot.

"If you're going to find the vessel, you'll need my help." Mr. Blake insists as they step out of the car and round towards the trunk of the car.

"No, I think we're quite good without it." Rip says, while Erin pops open the trunk.

"Sara." Rip encourages. Sara knocks the man out and he falls backwards into the trunk, which Erin closes and smiles. "Always a fun time." She states, causing Sara to smile and agree.

The trio walks into the building and are immediately welcomed into the ballroom. "Maybe we should have had Blake show us around." Erin says as she scopes out the room.

"Perhaps there's a less conspicuous way for us to do reconnaissance." Rip points out as they near a table.

"May I?" he holds his hand towards Sara. "I'm not much of a dancer." She tells him.

"I'll lead then." Rip insists. Sara looks to Erin for approval, "Hey, don't let me hold you back." Erin laughs, urging the two to go ahead and dance.

Rip pulls Sara to the dance floor as Erin grabs a glass of champaign from a waiter walking by.

She scans the area secretly, as Rip and Sara talk over the coms.

"I got a possible entrance point." Erin whispers over the com links. She slowly makes her way towards a door frame which she believes leads to Carter, and Erin can feel Rip and Sara following close behind her.

Erin peers over the corner of the wall. "We've got mercenaries, two of them." She tells the pair as they near.

"Well," Rip holds his hand towards the space, "ladies first."

Sara smirks and grabs the champaign glass from Erins hand, Rip obtaining a glass of his own. "I'll sit back and watch." Erin smirks at the two and their secretly shared ideas.

The pair rounds the corner, with Erin watching in hiding.

"This areas restricted, folks." The guard demands as they stumble into the room.

"I'm just looking for the ladies room." Sara slurs, falling into the guards arms.

She stands straight for a moment before she headbutts the guard, and roundhouse kicks the other.

Erin emerges from the corner and nods, "Nice work." She tells her friend. Sara nods a thank you as they push open the doors that the guards had been standing behind.

The first thing that all three notice, is Carter Halls body laying on a table in the centre of the room.

"Well, I hope one of you has a plan on how we're gonna get him out of here." Erin hopes.

"Maintenance elevator that leads to a loading bay." Sara summarizes as she nears the body.

"I'll have Gideon fly down and meet us there." Rip tells the girls.

"I just wish we knew what Savage was going to do with Carters body." Sara expresses her thoughts.

"Oh, why not stay and find out?" They all turn to face a few men standing behind them. "Ah, the Gareeb. Mr. Blake has told us so much about you."

"That bastards awake, ugh!" Erin expresses as they are being taken away by the men.

"What are you planning on doing with Carters body?" Erin keeps asking the men, eager to know.

As they are forced to their knees in a different room, one with many people and of course, Carters body and the man they despise, Rip asks the questions again for Erin.

"What are you planning on doing with his body?" Rip asks.

"Oh, you'll see. Mr. Blake tells us that you were planning to steal our masters fortune, but while money has its uses, it is not the source of his power." The same man from before says.

"Then what is?" Sara asks.

"Let us show you." The same man says.

Everybody in the room begins to chant the same words, "Hym nu setta, rash man setta." repeatedly.

"Our numbers are legion." The man brags, "All attracted to the man who is immune to death. Wealth is not power, belief is."

The group continues to chant as Savage walks up to the trio. "Hello Gareeb." He speaks towards Rip, "How long has it been? 4,000 years? You look well." He starts to pace between the three.

"When you and your friends attacked my estate in St. Roch I was afraid I wouldn't get the chance to meet you once again. Well, if there's something that I've learned in 4,000 years, it's patience. And this time I only had to wait one short day."

Savage stops pacing and moves towards Carter, "You're probably wondering what my plans are with your friends body. I already have his life essence, but his blood still has its uses." The chanting continues, "Jack the ripper showed me the virtues of severing the carotid artery." Savage explains.

He begins to cut through Carters flesh, letting the blood drip into a cup. Erin glances over at Sara, who looks t o be having difficulty controlling her bloodlust.

"Hey," Erin whispers towards Sara, who turns her head to listen. "You got this." Erin smiles.

Savage talks over the chanting of his followers, "Centuries ago, I discovered that although immortality is mine alone, I can share a taste with my faithful. Help them live an extra hundred years or so."

The chanting continues.

"We are in desperate need of back up." Erin mumbles to herself.

"When we first met, I asked who you were. Remember?" Savage asks Rip.

"Oh my God, do you ever shut up?" Erin says sarcastically, little too loud.

Savage waltzes over to her with an angry expression.

He picks her up by the shoulder, so her back faces him and she can feel the cold metal of a knife against her throat. "Why don't I just make it so you can't listen anymore." He threatens.

"Yes! I remember." Rip yells to get Savage's attention back on him instead of the animal shifting girl.

Savage drops her hard onto her side against the floor, but Erin is grateful as she closes her eyes and lets out a small, shaky breathe.

When Erin opens her eyes she looks at Sara who mouths, 'Are you okay?' Erin just nods her head at the blonde and starts to wiggle back to a sitting position.

Once sitting back up, Erin tunes back into the conversation Rip is having with Vandal, which is becoming intense.

"Get your hands off that." Rip growls as Savage holds a photo of Miranda and Jonas.

"Ah, your wife i take it." Savage taunts the Captain. "Oh, she is lovely. The boy has your eyes."

Seeing Vandal taunt her Captain, fills Erin with pitty and rage as a low growl escapes her lips and her eyes begin to turn their signature yellow.

"I'll be sure to keep their picture close. I don't remember killing them yet. It seems like I have a lot to look forward to." Savage taunts some more.

"This is a perversion." Rip spits.

"No," Savage corrects, "it is the power you have no hope of defeating. Everyone here is sworn to live and die at my command. Why? Because to them, I am a God! I pity you. You have no idea what it's like to have people willing to follow you up to the gates of hell!" Savage yells.

As if the team just loves to have ironic timing, blasts and gun shots are heard from the opposite sides on the door.

"Actually," Rip smirks, "i have a bit of an idea."

As Hunter finishes his sentence, the doors fling open to reveal Mick and Start with their guns at the ready. "Lets get this party started!" Mick screams while blasting his gun.

Leonard, also blasting his gun, follows with "Here's our invitation!"

Jax runs in and begins to untie Erin first, who immediately transforms and begins attacking people, mainly clawing at them.

Erin is in mid-air attacking somebody from behind when a blue light emits through the room throwing her backwards and returning her to her human state. "Enough!" Savage screams as Erin is thrown back into the wall.

Erin takes a moment t stand back up and balance herself before hearing Rip yell for her to get Carters body.

She scrambles to the table and grabs one of his arms which she throws over her shoulder.

Erin starts to drag his body when all of a sudden the weight is cut in half and she looks up to find Jax helping to carry the weight.

Soon everybody meets up, being joined by Sara and Rip last.

Rip takes Erins place carrying Carters body as they head back to the Waverider.

Erin retires to her room to change into a pair of black tights and a black hoodie with a faint yellow swirl. As Erin stares in the mirror wearing a black tankyop, looking at the new forming bruise on her shoulder, Sara opens the doors and tells her, "Come on, we're saying goodbye to Carter."

Erin nods her head and slips the hoodie back onto herself comfortably. She follows Sara to the bridge where Snart, Jax, and Mick are. "Come on." Sara orders them as both ladies walk in.

"Where are we going?" Jax questions her, "To say goodbye." Erin tells him.

Everybody joins outside, where a grave has been made for Carter, and Rip stands at the head of it.

"The other day I tried to find some words of inspiration. Words that would restore hope to us in the wake of our losses, but it is all of you who have inspired me. Beginning with Professor Boardman and then with Carter, their heroism is an inspiration to us all. And a reminder that one person acting alone can't help save the world." Rip encourages the group.

One by one, each teammate leaves, Erin being the third to go.

She places a comforting hand on Kendra's shoulder and then makes her way back to the ship.

"Gideon, ready us for take off." Rip runs onto the ship in a hurry.

Erin looks at him confused, "Woah." she says.

"Are we being chased or something?" Jax asks as the team follows thier captain to the bridge.

"Rip rounds the centre table before saying "No, but by now i imagine that right about now, the museum has realized that thier prized emerald is missing." He glances at the pair of criminals.

"You want me to say sorry?" Snart drawls.

"Sorry, i don't do sorrys." Mick retorts. This cause a slight laugh from Erin as she leans against the middle console.

"You are owed the apology, Mr. Rory. I should have told you all that this wasn't my first attempt at Savage. The reason infailed before was-" Rip is cut off by Sara, "was because you didn't have any of us." She says.

"But hey cappy, now that Stein and Ray are done fixing Kendra, we're back to full strength." Erin pipes up.

"Or at least as strong as we can be without Carter." Kendra adds mournfully.

"Quite true," Rip agrees. "but there is no point in continuing any further unless we are all, myself included, comitted to working in concert."

"You don't ditch us, we don't ditch you, deal?" Mick speaks up gruffly.

"Sir, i've completed my review of the timeline." Gideons speaks.

"What do ya got Gideon?" Erin pipes up happily.

"I calculate a 98% likelyhood that Savage reapears in 1986." The AI finishes.

Everybody moves to their seats and pulls down their restraints, Rip then saying "Chart a course, Gideon."

"Guess we're headed to the 80's." Martin speaks.

"Better break out your parachute pants!" Ray says giddly.

"What are parachute pants?" Jax asks.

Erin laughs, "I hope you never have to find out."
