2046

//LEGENDS OF TOMORROW\\

//2046\\

"When you think of love, Ollie, what comes to mind?" She asked him.

Oliver thought for a moment, actually considering the question.

"Family." He finally answered.

She nodded her head, taking in his answer. Before she could thank him, Oliver added something else, "And following them into the deepest hell even if it kills you."

She nodded, "But what if they don't love you?"

"If you love them enough, then that shouldn't matter."

The girl smiled, "Thankyou, Ollie."

She then gave him a kiss on the cheek and walked out of the Arrow Cave.

"What's happening!?" Erin yells as her, Sara and Snart run to the bridge.

"We're crash landing!" Rays yells back as the ship shakes more violently and everybody straps in.

Erin straps in beside Sara and the ship continues to shake. A pipe bursts behind the crew and Erin can hear something sizzling from the burst pipeline.

The ship spins and jerks back and forth before the group is finally thrown foward into their restraints and the ship comes to a halt.

Everybody lifts up their restraints. Everybody seems to be mostly okay.

Erin clutches her head as searing pain spreads through it. She feels a hand on her back and believes it to be Sara's.

Erin sees a flash of red and suddenly the pain is gone. She slowly opens her eyes and looks up to see Sara stand next to her. "You okay?" She asks, trying to sound calm.

"Yeah i'm good." Erin says back, rubbing her eyes.

The team gets up and, through unspoken words, walk out of the ship and into the mysterious time and place they have landed.

They walk down the ramp and off of the Waverider.

The ramped closes and Rips says, "Gideon, campuflauge the ship."

Erin hears the whirring noises of the ship and then she focuses on her surrounding.

Around her buildings are destroyed, there is wreckage thrown everywhere and things are on fire everywhere she looks.

It is a horrific site that she would never wish on any place. It was almost as if she could hear the screams of the ones who died here, she can't even begin to imagine how horrific those deaths must have been.

"Where the hell are we?" Erin asks as the group ventures further into the wreckage.

Rip looks at something on his wrist, "Star City." He says.

Erin and Sara whip around to face him, "I'm sorry, what!?" They say in usion.

"I thought you said the future was safe?" Sara says after.

"Star City was intact in 2016." Rip explains, "This, this is 2046."

"Holy shit." Erin whispers, spinning around and taking it all in.

"Don't move!" Somebody shouts. Erin follows the voice to a man in a hood on top of a car pointing an arrow at them...Oliver.

"Oh thank God, Ollie." She says with relief.

Sara takes a step foward. "I said don't move!" He shouts again.

"It's me, it's Sara." Sara speaks.

Erin grabs Sara's arm lightly as she starts to get an uneasy feeling about this.

"Hey Ollie," Erin takes a step closer to Sara as a protective instinct, "I know it's been a while but don't you remember? Rip Hunter recruited us to become Legends? I know I haven't seen you since Nyssa and the League but-" The man in the hood interrupts her, "I've never heard of any Legends." He says, then fires an explosive arrow behind the group.

Everybody takes cover behind something.

Erin looses Sara in the commotion and ends up hiding behind a wooden crate by herself.

An arrow goes by Erins head, missing her by only a foot. A few moments later she hears an explosion from her left.

"Who the hell is this guy?" She hears someone yell.

"Definatly not Oliver Queen that's for sure." Erin yells back in the direction of the voice.

"Sure dresses like him!" A voice yells back, Snart.

"Shoots arrows like him!" Jax exclaims.

Erin still hasn't heard anything from Sara, making her worried but she shakes it off

"Well i'm not sticking around long enough to get sish kababed by this guy." Jax adds and few moments later.

"Kids right, lets stay behind and kill this bastard." Somebody else yells, most likely Mick.

"I think he meant run and try not to die." Erin yells to the pyromaniac.

"Works for me." Mick yells back.

Another explosion goes off and the team begins to run back to the ship, Erin gets up and follows them.

Another explosion goes off to her right but she manages to avoid the debris and make it onto the ship.

Erin slides down against a crate and tries to catch her breath. She sighs in relief when she sees everybody, Sara included, in the room and unharmed.

While she relaxes and catches her breath, everything begins to set in.

Her home was destroyed after she was promised it would be safe. Her friends are most likely dead, her sister...her only family, is most likely dead. The one person she has valued the most all her life is gone because she wasn't there to protect her.

Rage fills up inside her. Erin stands up and walks angrily over to Rip.

She grabs the collar of his jacket and slams him against the wall. "What the hell Rip. You said the future was safe." She yells as her eyes turn a dangerous red.

She can feel the whole group behind her alert and watching them.

"As i've mentioned before, the future is in flux, always changing." Rip states while trying to remain calm.

"It's not the future." She yells again, bringing him towards her a little then hitting him against the wall again. "It may be our future, but it's your past so you already know how this turns out."

"E, hey, calm down okay." Sara speaks from behind her.

Erin's eyes instantly go back to their normal brown and she lets go of Rip.

A hand lightly wraps around her wrist and she is gently pulled back until she is standing near the wall beside Sara.

She expected Sara to have let go by now but instead she slides her hand down and intwines her fingers with Erins.

Sara doesn't say anything and just stands there with Erin by her side.

Erin leans into Sara and rests her head on her shoulder, not saying a word.

Rip tosses Erin a quick 'talk later' glance before saying, "As you all know time is malleable and constantly in flux, hence what you saw out there." He says motioning towards the door.

"So that's not how our future is suppose to turn out." Sara clarifies as she shifts her weight.

"Indeed." Rip answers, "Remeber how i said it was too damgerous for any of you to know anything about your futures? Well events you dread may come true due to your actions to prevent them."

"You know what i think?" Mick says as he takes a sip of his beer. Erin double takes, when does this dude find time to get a beer? "I think you think too much." He concludes.

"Believe me when i tell you that the best thing for yourselves and this mission is to make repairs on the Waverider here in 2046 and head back to your times to make sure none of this ever comes to be." Rip states as the group follows him to the bridge.

Just as Erin is about object, Rip pulls up a diagram over the centre table examines something, Jax peering over his shoulder then saying "Looks like the whole propulsion systems jacked."

"How do you even know what we're looking at here?" Stein questions.

"Doesn't matter if it takes you down the road or through time, an engine's still an engine." Jax retorts.

"How long will it take you to make repairs?" Rip interupts Stein and Jax's banter.

"I'm not too sure," Jax says. "but it would go alot faster if i had some help." Jax turns around to face the group, looking more nonchalantly towards Kendra, well at least to Erin it was noticable.

"Maybe Kendra could lend me a hand?" He hints and Erin feels half the team roll their eyes at him.

"Enlist whoever is free to help, i have this to contend with." Rip says as he pulls up another diagram.

Erin stares at the diagram, when she still doesn't figure out what it is she asks her captain.

"Exactly what is 'this'?" She asks.

"This is the Neuromorphic interface for Gideon's logic and navigation matrix. Without it, Gideon cannot function." Rip explains.

"So that explains why we got stuck in the future?" Erin half states half questions.

Nobody answers her and she shrugs it off.

Ray then steps foward to speak, "In 2016 Palmer Texh was working on a self-learning, Neuromorphic cortex, they would have moved to prototype by 2046."

"And we are going to need that prototype." Rips says.

"Which means you'll need someone to steal it." Erin says as the whole group turns their heads towards the pair of criminals.

Mick looks up from his beer, "Huh?" He says. Snart looks up from cleaning his gun and notices all eyes on him and his partner.

He puts the gun down and then goes and says "It's not money, it's not jewels, it's not artifacts, you're just lucky we'll steal about anything right now."

"As i suspected." Rip says.

"We'll get your gizmo," Snart turns to Jax "you just get this thing flying again."

Jefferson nods and everybody goes their seperate ways except for Erin and Sara who both after a moment silently decide they're going with the criminals.

"We're coming with." Erin speaks as they catch up with the group in the cargo bay.

"No," Rip objects, "no you're not. You're both too emotionally connected to this city."

"Do we look like we give a crap?" Erin fires back.

"We've been over this." He counters.

"I'm over you." Sara finally says, she walks closer to Rip, "You've got us on this mission to change the timeline for yourself and you won't even let us look at our futures? Now, we know this city better than anyone else, so either we're coming with or we can find out if the Time Masters are as good at teaching people to fight as the League of Assasins."

Rip pauses, considering his options. He then gives in and sighs. He motions for the pair to come along.

The five people walk off of the Waverider and walk towards the large building that use to be Palmer Tech.

"This is just a potential future so if we kill anyone it doesn't matter right?" Mick asks as they walk through wreckage and around flipped cars.

"To avoid the risk of a paradox lets say yes." Rip speaks as he follows Erin and Sara.

"Didn't your sisters apartment use to be over here?" Erin asks Sara as they round a corner and multiple builidng come into sight.

"Yeah." Sara answers as she stares at the half-crumbled building that use to house her sister and many others.

"I seem to recall something about your father being a cop." Snart directs at Sara.

"Your point?" She sasses back.

"Did one hell of a job." He retorts while Erin shoots him a look.

"My dad and everyone else would let this happen unless..." Sara pauses for a moment allowing Erin to finish for her, "unless they were dead."

Quickly changing the subject, Sara talks. "Smoak Technology should be right around this corn-" she's cut off by the screams of men and motorcycles coming from two ends of the street.

Guns begin to blaze as two groups of men on bikes come into view.

Rip points to an abandon bus and yells to hide in there. The group races into the bus, Sara and Erin take cover behind the first two seats while the rest of the group scatters amoungst the bus.

"It's chaos out there." Erin comments, Mick replies "It's beautiful."

Suddenly the vigalante from earlier swings in and lands on top of a car, the gangs attention turns to him as he fires an arrow, narrowly missing one of the men.

The fighting continues until Erin sees the vigalante stumble as he gets shot. Erin looks at Sara before turning back to the action, but when she does, she finds the vigalante gone.

"He's hurt." She exclaimes. "We have to help him." So Erin gets up and starts to run off the bus.

Before she can get fully off of the bus somebody grabs her hand and tried to pull her back.

"Erin as much as i want to help it's too dangerous out there right now." Sara explains.

Erin shakes her head and pulls Sara off of the bus with her.

Once they are off the bus, Sara gives in and runs with Erin to find the man. They can hear Rip yelling after them but ignore him.

Their running slows to a walk as they round the corner that Sara saw the man run towards.

"Can we talk? You know, about the kiss?" Sara asks while keeping her eyes trained on the alley infront of them.

"What's there to talk about?" Erin questions, doing the same as Sara.

"What does it make us?" The question catches Erin off guard but she keeps walking.

"I-i don't know." She stutters. "I just uh, i want to take us slow, if there is an us. I just don't want to end up hurting you like i did the last person i loved." Erin stutters in her step as she realizes her slip up in mentioning him.

She hopes that Sara doesn't hear the last part but her hopes diminish when Sara asks, "The last one you loved?" But to Erins luck, somebody shouts from the end of the alley.

"You two, are very persistant." He says.

Erin stares at him confused, as he looks to be perfectly fine. "I just saw you get shot point-blank back there." Erin says as she moves her body a bit and slightly points behind her.

Suddenly Rip is by her side, panting and out of breathe as the man says "It's high-density kalvar, and who the hell are you?" He questions all three.

"Who are you?" Erin sasses back.

"The Green Arrow." He answers quickly. This puzzles the two, but not Rip, who seems to be a lost puppy in all of this.

Sara steps foward a bit, "Oliver Queen is the Green Arrow."

"No he's not," the vigalente pauses allowing time for Erin to step foward beside Sara, "Oliver Queen is dead."

Erin stops in her tracks and grabs Saras arm to steady herself. "I-i'm sorry, what?" She stutters.

"How did he die?" Sara asks the man.

"I don't know." He simply says, "No one does, nobody's seen him since the uprising."

"Uprising?" Sara questions, but Erin has zoned pit at this point and is no longer listening.

"Ollie, you could've gotten yourself killed." The girl said while cleaning up the cut on his shoulder.

"But i didn't, i just got scratched up." He argued back.

"You realize your dad would kill you if he found out you drive that motorcycle, right?" She said with a raised eyebrow.

He just mockingly raised one back at her and she found herself laughing.

Suddenly her laughing stopped and she looked at him. "Don't ever die on me, promise?" She asked.

He looked at her and smiled, "I promised." He swore.

She smiled, then smacked his arm, almost playfully.

"What was that for?" He asked with a slight laugh.

"For almost breaking your promise."

"They're just scratches!" He defended and they both begin to laugh.

"Erin."

The girl looked at him and they smiled at eachother.

"Erin."

Suddenly Sara comes into view. Erin is brought back to reality where everyone's staring at her.

"Are you okay?" Sara asks quiet enough so the others don't hear.

"I'll be fine." She whispers.

Sara gives Erin a worried look before they hear Rip ask, "Who brought the army?"

"I did." A familiar voice says.

"Oh my god." Erin says and she finds a familiar face surrounded by armed troops.

"How did you get off Lian Yu?" Sara questions, but he stays silent.

"Answer me, damn it!" Sara practically screams.

Erin lays a gentle hand on Sara's arm, silently warning her to calm down.

She suddenly realizers her mistakes as she sees the mask move slightly and she knows he's looking at her hand on Sara's arm.

Immediatly she removes her hand and Sara looks back at the nervous looking girl.

Without questioning Erins action, Sara turns back around as Rip says. "Ms. Lance, Ms. Cooper, who is this?"

"Somebody very dangerous." Sara says.

"Then now would not be a very good ti-" Rip is cut of by Erin, "If it's not a good time then shut up Rip." Erin then goes on to say, "How are you still alive, Slade?"

"Slade." He repeats. "I haven't heard that name in a long time." He laughs. "You knew my father, i take it. He called you Ms. Lance, correct?" But both girls stayed silent.

He continues, "Any relation to the late Captain Lance? If so, you must have heard stories about my father."

Sara tenses and Erin can tell she's already preparing for a fight, "I knew your father." She says.

Erin adds "He was insane." "Seems to run in the family." The blonde quietly comments after.

Slade turns to one of the men on his right, "Who is she again?" He asks the troop, pointing towards Erin.

"Ms. Cooper, Sir!" The guard yells.

"Ah, Cooper, where have i seen that name?" Slade says.

Erin immediatly stiffens, if he knew who she was he either knew her parents or her sister.

The man thinks for a minute and slowly Sara appears at Erins side.

"Yes!" He finally says, "A door mat, what did it say again? Ah yes, The Cooper Residents. Those lives were a waste." He spits.

Erin just scoffs, "You really think i care about the death of those two bastards?" She says. Slade seems taken aback for once, and he lets his guard down.

It's long enough for Sara to take out a gun and shoot two men. The fake green arrow releases an arrow and takes out another man while Rip shoots somebody with his lazer gun.

The troops start to close in on the four, some shoot while Slade stands near the back of the army and laughs.

Erin rushes at a guard and hits him in the side of the helmet making him stumble, she then knocks the gun out of his hand and kicks him in the stomach.

She quickly uses her foot to kick the gun upwards towards her hands.

She catches the gun and shoots the guard once, before he can get up.

By now everybody is in the fight.

Erin finds another soldier closing in on Sara from behind. Erin quickly aims and hits the guard in the shoulder making him drop the gun and allowing Sara to become aware of the danger behind her.

Erin watches as Sara kicks the guard in fromt of her then roundhouse kicks the one behind her.

Her attention is averted from the pretty blonde towards another soldier as they come from her right.

She hits the guard in the head with the butt of her gun and knocks him out. She sense another behind her and kicks her foot back, hitting him in the stomach. She swings around and knocks this guard out with her gun too.

She shoots one man in the stomach and runs past him towards Sara.

"There's too many of them!" She shouts.

"We can't win this." One of the men shout, she then hears, "Grab the rope and hold on!"

The fake green arrow shows up beside Sara and Erin with a rope already attached somewhere high.

Rip is holding onto the rope and Sara grabs on.

They all look at Erin and she nods, "I'll be right behind, just go." She yells over the sound of fighting.

The vigalante looks at Sara and she nods, telling him to go ahead.

Erin turns around and punches a guy while the trio takes off.

Erins eyes turn green, but an unusual green, darker than usual.

She jumps up against a building and grabs ahold of the window ledge.

She looks around and spots the group of three just one building over.

She jumps up one more story and grabs ahold of another window ledge.

She jumps to the building across and grabs at a pipe running along the side.

It crumbles in her hands but she manages to break through the brick and form a hole.

She pushes off and lands on the building she had seen the three on moments ago.

She notices the rope swing around a corner and jumps from building to building to follow them.

She eventually finds them landing and jumps from a ledge she is hanging on, down towards the group.

She lands in a grouch position with one hand on the floor for balance, she raises her head and stares at the group.

The colour in her eyes fades to its normal brown and Sara offers her a helping hand to get up.

"You are one strange woman." The man in the green says.

Erin ignores his statement and looks behind him. "Is this the Arrow Cave?" She asks.

The man nods his head as Sara speaks up, obviously angry that she was unaware of everything. "Slade had a son?"

"Look," the man defends, "Oliver tried. He tried to raise an army to fight Deathstroke, but everyone just wanted to evacuate."

The man sighs, "You can't save a city that doesn't want to be saved." Erin says while staring at the entrance to the building.

"A moment."

Confused, Erin looks away from the building and at Rip, who motions for the girls to follow him a few feet away for a talk.

Sara follows but the pair stops to look at Erin, "I'm fine here." She states, not wanting to hear what he has to say.

Before Rip has time to object Sara pulls him away.

Erin returns to staring at the building infront of her.

After a few silent moments, the man asks "Erin Cooper, right?"

She suddenly snaps her attention directly to him.

"I'm not saying anything until you tell me your name."

"Connor." The man says.

Erin raises her eyebrow at him and he sighs, "Connor Hawke."

He takes off his hood and she smiles, "And yes, i'm Erin Cooper."

Connor smiles back at her, "Oliver talked about you alot." What he says makes Erin smile, then he shifts his weight and you can tell his expression is serious.

"Uh back there, what he said about your family-" Erin cuts him off by saying "My parents are not my family." Conner only continues, "see the thing is it wasn-"

He is cut off again by Sara walking past them saying "Let's go we don't have much time."

Rip follows closely behind her and Erin and Connor join them.

As they enter the Arrow Cave Erin notices the mess. Not the type of mess where a little 5 year old leaves his Legos laying around, no. The type of mess that would remind someone of World War 2.

"What happened here?" Sara asks.

"When people found out that Oliver was the Green Arrow, Slade attacked him here and most the team tried to fight, but in the end everybody ended up running." Connor explains.

Erin walks up to the computers she use to see Felicity furiously typing away, usually hacking into some sort of system for the team.

She lightly traces the edges of the computer as she relives memories of her and Felicity from long ago.

Memories of when they would sit there and laugh about inside jokes, teaching Felicity how to defend herself, Felicity teaching her how to hack into a street camera. All memories Erin could never forget.

All memories that are gone.

"Get out!" A voice distracts her from her thoughts.

"Who's there?" Connor asks, with the voice replying "I said get out!"

Erin stands alert as she senses a shadow in the corner.

She doesn't sense just any shadow though, she reconizes it, or rather, reconizes him.

Connor puts an arrow in his bow amd holds it up, aimed at where he believes the person is.

"Wait!" Erin says, stopping the vigalente from shooting.

The man steps out of the shadows and Erins face holds a shocked expression.

She knew the shadow was Oliver, but she never expected him to look the way he did.

He looked old, obviously. She mentally facepalmed, it's 30 years into the future of course he'll look older.

He grew out his beard into a long grey one and his arm was missing.

Erin doubles takes and notices that he actually doesn't have an arm, she wasn't imagining it.

"Oliver?" Sara asks the unasked question.

"Hello, Sara." He says. "Long time no see."

"Is that-" Rip starts, but Erin is quick to cut him off. "Ollie."

Everyone turns to face her but Erins eyes stay trained on Oliver, the shock clearly shown on her face.

"They said you were dead." She adds.

"Do i look dead to you?" He asks rather harshly.

She internally flinches at the tone in his voice.

He turns around to face Sara, Rip and Connor. "Put the bow down John, you look like an idiot." He says.

"John?" Erin questions, angry that he lied to her about his name.

"John Diggle Jr." He clarifies for her.

"But i go by Connor Hawke now, i don't deserve my fathers name, not after i let him die." Connor says while Erin lightens up her mood.

She tries not to think about everybody else who might have died during this, she averts her thoughts to the ongoing conversation once again.

The next thing she hears is Connor talking, "I've been trying to hold this city together because i thought you were gone."

"What happened to you?" Sara asks.

Erin walks down to join the group while Sara continues, "To Laurel, to my dad, Felicity-"

Oliver cuts her off, "They're gone." He says. "All of them."

"What do you mean?" Sara asks.

Oliver stays silent for a moment, "Ollie?" Erin asks.

"Gone." He whispers again. He then perks up, realizing the group was still there, "What do you want me to say Sara? 30 years ago you, Ray, and appaerently Erin hopped on a spaceship and never came back."

"We will." Sara says instantly.

Oliver just sighs in response, "I don't want to say things would have ended differently if you three were here, but..." He trails off so Erin finishes for the man.

"Thing would've been different." She says.

"What do you want?" He asked immediately after.

"We're looking for a Neuromorphic Prototype that Felicity Smoak was working on." Rip answers.

Oliver moves a little closer to the group and says, "Felicity left after everything happened, everything her company was working on is being kept in a warehouse at Adams and O'Neil. Entry code 4-5-8-7.."

"Thank you Mr-" Rip is then cut off by Oliver as he begins to walk away, "You found your way in and you can find your way out."

"Wait!" Erin yells after, "You're not coming with?"

Oliver turns around just for a moment to say "No, now leave."

Erin turns to face Sara and silently tells her to give her and Ollie a moment alone.

After Sara drags the two boys out of the room Erin runs into the shadows of the base where Oliver disappeared.

"Ollie, why aren't you coming with?" She asks when she finds him walking towards an unknown location.

"Because I'm not getting back into that buisness again, you can do just fine without me." He replies without even turning around to face her.

She grabs his shoulder, "Ollie." As she turns him around he raises his voice, "What do you want! I'm not going with you!"

Erin takes a step back but she doesn't walk away. Instead, her voice goes quiet as she asks,"What happened to you? What happened to following those you love into the deepest hell even if it kills you?"

"All the people I loved are either gone or dead! How can you have so much faith when everybody you love has left!" He yells towards her.

"They're not!" She yells back. "There's us two and Sara and Ray and my sister-" "No." Oliver says.

"She's gone." He says, lowering his voice again.

"W-who?" Erin stutters, afraid of the answer.

"Your sister, she's gone." He clarifies.

"You mean like she left with Felicity?" "No. She's dead."

Erin stammers back a few steps as Oliver continues to talk. "I watched her die." He says. "I watched Deathstroke kill her right infront of me and I couldn't save her."

Erin stumbles back until she finds herself bumping into a desk. "Uh, um. I-I'm just going to go." She says.

A few tears fall from her face as she turns away from him and slowly walks away.

She wipes one tear away, then another and another, until it no longer looks like she had been crying.

This isn't a real place. She tells herself. The future can change.

She can live.

By the time Erin reaches the gang, her tears are gone and one would never guess the devistating news she recieved.

"How'd it go?" Sara asks as she sees Erin approaching from inside the builiding.

When Erin doesn't answer, Sara notices the look of anger on the panthers face. "You okay?" She asks.

Erin starts walking right pass the group, who quickly follows her towards the builiding. "Lets get this thing and kill this son of a bitch."
