Chapter 5

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
When I opened my eyes, I wasn't in the car anymore. I saw a beautiful meadow filled with grass and flowers and trees. Unlike anything I'd ever seen.

I couldn't feel my heavy clothes anymore and I looked down to see that I was wearing a floaty, sky blue dress. It reached my ankles and flowed gently in the warm breeze. I didn't have any shoes on and the grass felt amazingly soft beneath my toes.

I saw that around my neck was a beautiful pendent, it was the same arrow shape as Sara's, the one she placed on top of the gooey ball, except it was silver. At that moment, I felt something on my head and, reaching up to touch it, realised it was some sort of tiara. I took it off and looked at it. It was a silver ring that was covered with little silver flowers, it felt like the lightest thing on earth.

Placing the tiara back on my head, I decided to explore the meadow a bit. Feeling the soft grass beneath my feet, I ran through the trees, running my hands through the leaves and flowers until I heard something I didn't hear before. Birds. They were everywhere in the the trees, every species that I could imagine, even some I had never seen before. I smiled and giggled at them as they sang the sweetest songs I'd ever heard. I felt like Snow White in that moment so I started to dance. And by dance, I mean twirl around in my floaty dress and tiara.
As I twirled, I told myself to never tell this to my Uncle Jack, he would for sure laugh at me for being so girly.

Suddenly I heard laughter behind me, the sound rang through my ears like music. I turned, startled, and saw that the laughter had come from a boy with fine, blonde hair and striking blue eyes.
Seth.
He wore a sky blue button down shirt, the same colour as my dress, and white pants and shoes. He was holding a pair of white sandals and was smiling! And let me tell you, he looked amazingly attractive when he smiled.

"I see you're enjoying yourself Emily." He said, walking towards me.
I laughed, "Is it that obvious?" I asked.
He nodded, still smiling. When he got close enough, he gently took my waist, pulling me to his chest and leant down to kiss me. The kiss was warm and wonderful, giving me a sense of safety. Not that I needed it in this beautiful meadow.
"Come on, everyone's waiting." He said once he pulled away.
"I know. I can't believe this is actually happening." I said as Seth bent down and slipped the white sandals onto my feet.
"Can't you? Because I can. I saw this coming the moment I laid eyes on you." He said, taking my hand.
I smirked, "I thought that was Sara's job."
He smiled, "Not always."
I stood on my tip toes to kiss him once more before we walked hand in hand to somewhere we had to be.

Slowly, everything came back into focus as I opened my eyes. I saw Sara in front of me and she sighed with relief and smiled when she saw that I was okay.

"You guys alright?" Jack asked from the wheel. I had a feeling we had gotten far away from the shack.
I nodded but couldn't get my words out.
"We are alright Jack Bruno. A little shaken, but not injured." Sara said.
Suddenly I heard a groan and saw Seth holding his head. Jack looked back at him through the rear view mirror.
"Hey, how are you holding up Seth?" I asked, placing my hand on his shoulder.
"No need to worry Emily Bruno, my brother's system has the ability.."
"I'm fine." Seth interrupted his sister and turned to Jack, "It is important we gain much distance from this location."
"Well, I'm happy you're feeling better." Jack said, "Because you're gonna need your strength when you explain to me, just what happened back there!"
"Uncle!" I exclaimed.
Neither Seth nor Sara said anything in answer to Jack.
Suddenly, the cab stopped.
"Okay here's the deal. The car doesn't move until your mouths do." He said firmly to the siblings, "So start talking."
At that moment I was a little curious on what they had to say. I already knew that what attacked us was a Siphon that was sent to kill them but I didn't know why.
Seth finally spoke up, "The information you are seeking is not within your grasp of understanding."
"We are dealing with issues outside the realm of...your world." Sara continued.
"Hey, I'm a cab driver, okay? I've had plenty of worldly experiences..." Jack trailed off, looking behind us.
"Jack?" I asked before looking behind the cab along with Seth and Sara.
The light of a something flying was coming towards us. "Oh no." I whispered in fear.
"Sara we have to go!" Seth cried, turning back around.
Sara whipped her hand out and sped the car forward, just like she did when we were on the highway.
"What is it?" Jack cried.
"Is it the Siphon?" I whispered to the siblings.
Sara looked at Seth who looked at me then nodded once.
I turned back, looking at the light, following us.
"Don't worry, I won't let him hurt you..." Seth whispered, the look on his face, serious and protective...of me.
Suddenly the ground began exploding like it did at the shack! That thing was shooting at us!! Jack dodged and weaved around them.
"Hang on!" He yelled.
I grabbed on the seat with all my strength.
Jack turned off the road, breaking through branches of trees then we started sliding down a hill.
"Hold on!" Jack cried again, turning the wheel, left, right then left again in an attempt to keep the cab straight.

I looked out the front window and saw a fence coming up, and it was coming up quickly.
Jack didn't do anything, he couldn't see it. Seth and Sara were still looking back at the UFO behind us, so it was up to me.

I leapt forward, grabbed the wheel and jerked it to the right. Jack let out a yell of surprise as the  cab turned sharply and we missed the fence. Thankfully.

I slid back into my seat and leaned into it, taking deep breaths as Jack turned off the headlights and drove into a dark tunnel. We stopped and sat there. The only sound was all of us breathing.

Seth turned to Sara, talking across me.
"We can't let him destroy it or her Sara." He said softly, sending chills down my spine.
Sara looked at her brother confused, taking out the object they had gotten out of the shack, but then seemed to realise something, then nodded.
Who was the 'her'?
Jack however only cared about the 'him'.
"Who is 'he'?" He said, "And this time I need real answers."
I looked at both siblings, silently telling them to just tell my uncle the truth. Sara seemed to know exactly what I was thinking and obliged.
"It's a Siphon." She said.
"A what?"
"He's an assassin trained to pursue his target until his mission is completed." Seth continued.
"And his mission is..." Jack said, trailing off again as lights began to shine on the ground in front of the tunnel, searching for something. My eyes widened.
"Us." Sara said.
