Chapter 2

We continued silently driving for a while, eventually driving up along some open road in the middle of nowhere.
Every now and again I would look in the rear view mirror and glance at the two teens. They looked completely normal...but I knew they obviously mustn't be.

"Are your parents okay with you spending all of this money?" Jack asked them, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked down at the Fare Meter to see they were up to almost $400 in pay.
"We have previously agreed upon our financial deal. If your concern is our conversation with-" Seth began before getting cut off by Jack...again.
"My concern is that I have two kids in my cab, with a big wad of cash, and a drop off zone pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Now in my book, that's a little chapter called running away!" Jack explained to them.
I turned around in my seat towards them, seeing Seth turn to Sara as if to say something.

"Jack."
I jumped as the radio sounded.
"You better be getting desert miles on that fare. And they better be able to pay. And you better get me an ETA!"
I gave Jack a confused look.
"My colleague." He muttered to me and I nodded in realisation.
Jack picked up the radio and said, "I'm losing reception Dominick." And slammed the radio back into place.
I stifled a laugh and Jack smiled at me.

"Jack Bruno the vehicles behind us are indicating a pattern of pursuit." I heard Sara behind me and Jack and I turned to her.
She looked like she was really worried about it.
"There's no vehicles following-" Jack began before I cut him off, looking out the back window.
"Yes there are!"
Jack turned and saw black vans coming up behind us.
"At our current rate of speed versus theirs, they will overtake our vehicle in less than one minute." Seth said.
"Relax kid!" Jack exclaimed, clearly annoyed by him, "I'm just gonna let them pass!"
I looked at Seth and Sara and saw them exchange a worried glance.

Jack stepped on the brake and slowed down to let them pass.
When they didn't speed up and go around, Jack wound down his window and waved at them to pass.
"Open road people! All yours." Then he wound his window back up.

A big SUV drove up next to us and sat there for a moment, as if the person inside was looking at us through its jet black window before passing by.

"What did I tell you?" Jack said, turning back to Seth and Sara, "nobody's following us. I'm the king of these roads-"
"Jack Bruno!!" Sara yelled, holding her hand out.
Suddenly the SUVs behind us hit us from the back, sending us spinning out of control.
I let out a scream and held onto my seat and the handle above my window as tightly as I could.

Jack turned the wheel and sped off down the road. The SUVs started chasing us.
"I said I was out and I meant it!" Jack yelled.
"Wait, what are you talking about?" I yelled.
"Who is Mr Wolfe Jack Bruno?" Sara asked him and I looked between her and Jack who had tensed at the name.
"Who?" I asked her.
"How do you know that-Ugh!" Jack said before the SUV slammed us from behind.
"Get down now!" He yelled at the three of us and we obeyed.

Two of the SUVs came up beside us and pressed in on the sides of the cab.
Jack pushed the cab off one side and tried to push the SUVs away but he was pushed back into the SUV on my side.
I let out another scream as we were pushed from side to side between the two SUVs as well as a third behind us.
"Come on." Jack growled and slammed his foot on the brake, making two of the SUVs miss and spin off the road. Jack slammed the accelerator and sped off down the road.

Seth, Sara and I looked back and saw we still had one more van on our tail.
"Jack Bruno it would appear we have not eluded them!" Sara exclaimed.
"What?" He yelled out, frustrated.
"They're still following us." I translated.
Jack looked in the rear view and saw the last SUV.
"So over this." He said, "Stay down, stay down!" And again we obeyed.

I looked back to Seth and Sara to see if they were okay, but instead I saw Seth look at Sara with a knowing look.
"Seth no." Sara said, seeming to know what he was thinking, "It's not a good idea."
"I have to try." Seth replied.
"It's too dangerous." Sara tried to convince him out of not doing....whatever he was planning to do.
"What are you going to do?" I asked.
Seth looked away from Sara to me, our eyes locked before he....disappeared!!!
My eyes widened and I gasped.
Sara looked at me as if she could tell what I was thinking.
I looked back at Jack to see he was still too busy driving to know what was happening.
I looked out the back window and saw Seth standing in the middle of the road, turning to face the oncoming SUV.

"What the hell is he doing?!?" I asked Sara frantically.
"You'll see Emily Bruno." She said, while also looking out the window.
Wait...I never told her my name!

I watched as the van came closer and closer to Seth, I braced myself.

The SUV hit him but it was as if it had crashed into a wall that was Seth! The car flipped over the top of him and landed with a crash.
I couldn't believe it! He just flipped a car without lifting a finger!!

Sara whipped around and held out her hand in a fist and the cab screeched to a stop, causing me to almost fall forward into the back seat if it wasn't for my seat belt.
"Now what?" Jack said, not realising that....it was....Sara who was doing it?
"Are you doing this?" I asked her, almost whispering so Jack couldn't hear.
Sara didn't reply but held her hand flat and I turned to see the gear change and the road begin to unroll as we reversed.
I turned back to Sara who was looking out the back window again.

I watched the flipped SUV come closer and closer as we reversed and we just got faster and faster until we stopped just before we would have crashed into it.

"You three okay?" Jack asked me and Sara, still not realising Seth wasn't in the car.
I answered, "We're..." Looking at Sara, then back at Jack, "fine."
I looked back only to see Seth appear back in the car, as if he had come through the metal and I jumped.
"We should just..." He looked at me who had a bewildered look on my face, "Keep moving."
Jack didn't answer, instead he opened the door and got out.
"Uncle!" I called but he had already gotten out and walked up to the beat up car.
