Chapter 19

Suddenly a huge explosions went off behind us and every one ducked again.
I looked behind and saw...oh no...
The Siphon!!
"Go! Run!" Jack yelled and we all turned and ran into the ship.
"Get inside!" Alex yelled.
When we got inside, we heard the screaming of the men and the blasts from the Siphon's guns.
Seth and Sara sat in the chairs sitting in the front of the ship.
Alex and I looked around in amazement.
"Cool." She said and I laughed.
"You're telling me." I said.

"We gotta get this thing up in the air. Let's go!" Jack exclaimed and the siblings started it up.
Holograms appeared that made no sense to me, but made perfect sense to Seth and Sara.

They were taking it a bit slow and Jack began to lose patience.
"Come on." He said.

The ship tilted a bit which probably meant the stands were destroyed.
"Activate the shields." Sara commanded.
"Power's at twenty-five percent and increasing." Seth said.
The ship was lifted and bumped slightly into the roof which jolted us on our seats.
"You do know how to fly this thing right?" Jack asked them.
"How do you think we got here?" Seth asked, paying attention to the holograms in front of him.
"You crashed. Remember?" Jack shot back and I gripped my seat more tightly.

Through the windows we saw the...
"Siphon." Sara said and Seth gasped.
"Hold on!" Seth told us and increased the speed, knocking the Siphon clean out.
"Got him!" Jack yelled and we all breathed a sigh of relief.

The siblings drove the ship through the tunnels of the mountain, occasionally bumping into something.
"Watch out!" Jack cried.
"Follow the tunnels. There you go!" Alex instructed.
Suddenly a truck came out from another tunnel and Seth, who I assume was steering, just missed it.
Another car appeared from another tunnel and we braced ourselves again.
"Watch out!" Jack said again and Seth bumped into it, knocking it to the side.
The ship barreled down the tunnels while the PA suddenly began to count down.
"Gates closing in ten, nine, eight, seven..."
"Watch out!" Alex, this time exclaimed as a line of trucks and cars came into view in front of us.
"Six, five, four..."
"The door!" I cried.
"The door, the door!" Alex cried.
"Three, two, one."
BOOM! Just before the doors closed, Seth turned the ship on its side and it slipped through the opening into the night sky!
Jack sighed with relief and smiled.
"Whooo!" Alex yelled.
"Yes!!" I shouted, pumping my fist in the air.
Sara and Seth laughed with relief and took a victory lap around the mountain and flew off away from it.
"You did it!" I cried, reaching forward and kissing Seth on the cheek.
"We did it. We did it." Sara replied just as happily and I smiled at her.
Suddenly, the ship bumped and rumbled and tipped.
"Whoa! What was that?" Alex asked, gripping her seat.
"The airlock's jammed. I need to manually override the system." Seth said, looking up at the holograms.
"You two fly. Just tell me what to do." Jack said.
Seth explained to Jack what he needed him to do and Jack left the driver pod and went into the hallways down the back of the ship.
It was only a minute later, that we felt bumping and jerking in the drivers pod.
"Is it meant to do that?" I asked the siblings and they shook their heads.
I exchanged a fearful look with Alex. Why did I have a bad feeling?
"I think Jack's in trouble!" I said and Seth nodded, as if coming to a decision.
"Emily, it takes two to fly the ship." He said, "I need you to take the controls." He got up and turned to me.
"What?!" I cried, "Are you insane?"
Seth, piloting with one hand, took one of mine with his free hand and sat me in his seat.
"Place your hands on these spheres, they control the steering." He explained, "Sara will help you."
I nodded, "Okay." I said, unsure.
Seth took a second to kiss my cheek and ran to the back of the space ship.
"Turn the right sphere to tilt right and the left to tilt left." Sara explained and I nodded.
"Sounds easy." I said.
The bumping and jerking increased and Alex let out a scream.
I figured that something was attacking the boys in the back so I figured I could shake it off.
I veered to the left and then straightened.
"Good job Emily!" Sara praised.
"Thanks!" I replied.
A rough minute or two went by and suddenly the ship was back on track.
Sara, Alex and I sighed with relief, once more.
Sara and I smiled at each other and Alex laid her head back in her chair.

Seth and Jack came back and I immediately got out of the chair, letting Seth take over again, but not before I hugged him and kissed his cheek again, happy he was alive.
We flew for a few more minutes in comfortable silence then slowly landed in a secluded bush area.
