Like Compass and Statue: Captain Hardrock

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

A short cough pulls me out of my thoughts making me turn to Alya who looks at me concerned.

"What's on your mind, girl?" She asks, sitting beside me on the ship's railing as I take a huge inhale, scooting to clear some space for her.

"Nothing to worry about..." I say with a light smile, not wanting to get too deep into what I'm feeling. To be frank, however, I didn't think I would come to this stage of my love life.

Doubt.

We were invited to help in the Couffaine houseboat to set up for the music festival. The day I have been waiting for. Adrien said he'd come since it's his first music festival with friends and his father somehow miraculously allowed him to. But seeing that he was already late, I knew better and I didn't even feel mad or upset. Just a smidge of doubt...

"Captain Anarka speaking to ya! So how's it going, m'young laddies?!"

A voice makes me look up. It's Juleka's mom, the coolest pirate lady I've ever met.

"What're ya up to, matey?" The lady pirate asks Marinette who seems to be tidying things up.

"Oh, hello, ma'am! I'm cleaning up for tonight's gig! Your boat is going to be as clean as a whistle!" The blunette responds with a sheepish grin.

"Ye're cleaning, are ye?" The woman laughs as she picks up the box and throws stuff around, "We ne'er clean up here! We like the lived-in look! We have no rules in liberty! With chaos comes creativity! Messiness is life!" She says and pats Marinette's head. I chuckle at their interaction.

"She's a pirate if I've ever seen one..." I say to Alya as Marinette shrugs at me from afar. I lean on the railing and watch the Seine's waters.

"The Seine looks best at this time of day~" I whistle as I stretch my arms.

Marinette walks over to us and pulls us away, "Let's head to the captain's deck for a better view!"

We head into the houseboat's deck and watch as the boat sways at the movement of the water. It's calm and almost makes me forget the dulling tension in my mind.

I look across the room and spot a metal statue on the table beside us. I examine it before hearing a familiar ringtone go out through the ship. Nino, who is on the other side of the door, picks up his phone.

"Hey, dude!"

My eyes sparkle when I realise who it must be. Alya nudges at me and we listen in.

"Woah, what happened?" Nino's eager expression changes into a sad one leading me to furrow my eyebrows in curiosity. "That's harsh..."

I knew it...

"Okay, see you tomorrow."

I look away with a long sigh as Marinette and Alya glance at me with a look of pity.

"Yeah..." I bite my lip as a familiar feeling fills within my chest.

"Well, it's not the first time his dad's kept him from hanging out with us..." Alya states as she takes place beside me and I strengthen my grip on the statue.

"I know..." I mumble, "I would've been surprised if he got to come here either way..."

Marinette takes the statue away from me and places it on the compass, caressing my cheek with her free hand.

"There'll be other chances, (Y/N). Have faith in love, like you always do."

Like I always do...?

Thoughts rummage through my mind as I manage to pull a smile and nod.

"Woah there, sailor!" Captain Anarka enters the room, shaking her head in objection. "Never place a metal object near a compass, you hear, lass?" She says as she takes the statue that was placed on top of the ship's compass.

"Metal attracts the needle! That's why the two of them should never place them together." The woman demands, showing us how the needle of the compass goes crazy even when the metal statue is a little close, fascinating me a little.

"Aye, aye, captain!" I say brightly in an attempt to break off the tension in the air.

"Captain Anarka!" Rose enters the room, "We're ready to start rehearsals but where's Luka?"

Luka?

"Who's Luka?" Marinette seems to have the same question in mind as we face each other.

"Luka's my son." The captain proclaims to us, "Marinette, is it?"

"Y-Yes, captain?!"

"Since you're free of your cleaning duties, I suggest you go on over to the cabin and call him out for rehearsal, wouldn't you, lass?"

"Sure..." She says and then heads down to the 'cabins' as Alya and I walk out to the quarterback to help prepare.

"Hey, (Y/N). Can you step on that ladder for me? We need to hang these flags!" Mylene points and I nod.

"Let's do this!" I climb the ladder and then begin the hang the flags on the walls of the boat as Mylene passes them on.

"Just gotta-" I feel the ladder shake under me, sending me a foreboding feeling of what's going to happen. I take a small wrong step and I'm already feeling gravity pulling me down. I yelp, as I get ready to face the impact. What I didn't expect is a pair of hands preventing my fall as my back crashes something other than the cold floor I was anticipating.

"Woah there," An unfamiliar cool voice makes me snap my head up from my ridiculous position to see a tall slender guy with hair dyed with teal tips and light aqua-coloured eyes.

"You must be Luka." I blurt out as I'm captivated by his frame. He pulls me up and I continue to stare at him.

"You must be (Y/N)." He smiles at me with a playful age which confuses me.

"How do you..." My eyes shift to the blunette who walks out behind him, "Marinette...Did you say something?" I send her a cold stare.

"O-Of course not. Y-You see...I was worried about you and Adrien that I-" She mutter but I shush her with my finger on her lip.

"Not another word." I glare at her. Luka chuckles deeply, "It was nice to meet you, Ma-Ma-Marinette." He teases her with a wink which surprises me as Marinette's face visibly changes colour when he glances at her.

"You too, (Y/N)." He says and turns away from us.

Alya walks in with her eyes fixated to Luka who waves at us and walks away. "Damn...Who's the hunk?" She asks positioning her glasses dramatically so she can see him better.

"That's Luka..." I say with a smile as I glance at him. He smirks at me when our eyes meet and I turn back to Alya.

"Oh my god. Is this happening right now?" Marinette gapes as she gives me a questionable gaze as she points to Luka and then to me.

"What? Luka?" I scoff, "He is my type but I remain faithful to my man." I state with a light shrug, turning to glance at him once again.

"He's hot." Alya says, "But I'm already taken." She raises her hands as a sign of surrender to which I turn to Marinette. She stares at the guy with a burning red face as I wave my hand in front of her.

"Earth to Marinette?" I pull her out of her daze as she practically drools over the dude.

"I think I'm in love..." She whispers with a hand on her chest. There's a confused pause between us as Alya and I snap our head towards each other and then back to Marinette.

"Say what now?" I gasp with a huge grin, pulling her to sit near a crate. "Give us the details. Now." Alya says sitting across us with a face matching mine. Marinette facepalms as she pulls her knees close to her chest.

She groans, "I can't believe I stuttered in front of him! Out of all times!"

"What happened?"

"I-I went down to the cabins to call him. I freaked out because I didn't see him at first but he's on the bed-"

"Shirtless?"

Marinette sends me a shocked look, "No! HE WAS M-MEDITATING and when he opens his eyes, I tell him we need him for rehearsals while stuttering like a cow!"

"Cows don't stutter." Alya chimes to which Marinette sighs.

"The point is he played this beautiful guitar riff and said it was the melody that he hears FROM MY HEART AND HE GAVE ME THIS JAGGED STONE GUITAR PICK! WHO WOULDN'T FALL FOR THAT?!" She says showing us the guitar pick given to her by Luka, "He even called me funny! No one finds me funny!"

A soft laugh erupts from Alya as Marinette seems to be drowning in her love-sick phase.

"Welcome to the love boat, Mari~" I pat the said girl's head, trying to suppress my incoming laugh as Alya laughs like a hound.

"This is not funny, guys..." She grimaces at our excitement.

"Of course, it's not! Think of it as the compass and the metal statue!" I try to hypothesize, "You're going crazy even when he's around you!"

"I'm thinking Marinette, the compass, has found herself a statue~" Alya chimes after which I can't hold my laugh.

"Hoho! Let's give 'em a show! Wherever ye're ready, Luka!" Captain Anarka yells with enthusiasm, making all three of us head for the quarterback and take our places before the stopgap stage.

"You're going to need these..." Mylene says as she hands out earplugs and we oblige to put them on.

Luka takes this as a signal and shreds the guitar which makes a very loud sound, sending all of us listeners on the edge of our seats.

"Yikes." I cover my ears feeling them go numb at the second.

There are police sirens going off all around us as Lieutenant Roger pulls up. Police cars, boats and helicopters surround us as apparently the sound was so loud it made cars fly off.

"Mrs. Anarka! What do you think you're doing?! I'm reading 160 decibels which is ten times the sound of a jet engine! You just can't do this! You'll have to play something else!"

"This is the National Music Festival, Lieutenant Roger! My crew can play whatever we want!" The captain defends and I can't help but feel the pressure in the air rise which makes me glance at Alya and Marinette.

"It's a music festival! Not a noise festival! You either turn the volume down or I'm going to have to ban your concert from partaking in the festival!"

"No! Out of the question! I didn't name my galleon 'Liberty' for nothing! Don't you know about freedom of speech, Roger?! This is my boat! I'll do whatever I want with it!"

They get into a very heated argument as the rest of us leave them be as it's better safe than sorry.

"You will not play in the festival if you do not have a permit and bring the volume down! That's final!" He says and the drives off with the other cops. Captain Anarka growls and then heads off to the captain's deck.

"Jeez..." Nino says fixing his hat as we're all probably thinking the same.

"I think I'll go check on the captain..." I volunteer as I sense something ominous going to happen. I walk up to the captain's deck and slowly peek in. The captain hands her head held low, cursing under her breath as I walk in.

"Captain Anarka..." I call out but then I notice the small black butterfly entering the deck.

"No!" I scream but it's too late as the Akuma already enters the ship's compass. A striking pain hits me in my chest causing me to stumble as I realise it's too late.

"A treasure in return for freedom! Hoho! I will gladly become your pirate, Hawk Moth!" She exclaims and then a black mass covers the whole ship, transforming it.

"Oh, look what we have here." The captain laughs as she faces me. Her whole exterior changes into this evil rock pirate.

"Come join me, lassie! We're going to take over Paris!" She says but back away.

"No! You're not yourself, Captain Anarka!"

She scowls at my words, "It's Captain Hardrock to ya, dearie! Do you want in or not?!"

"Never!" I yell as I try to escape from her grasp.

"Mutiny?! In my ship? Seize her, Liberty and throw her in the hold!" She says and then chains charge towards me and capture me. A hatch opens under me and I plunge down into the hold, rolling on the ground.

"Ouch." I groan at the contact of my skin with the ship's cold floor.

"Seven...get me outta here..." I grumble to the Kwami who reaches in the locks and frees me from the chains.

"Let's do this! Seven, let's bloom!" I chant and then transform into my alter ego. As I land on my stance, the ship trembles and a large hatch opens above me sending the rest of the crew down in chains.

"Primvère Rosé?!"

All of them seem to be shocked except for Marinette who I can tell feigns her confusion.

"Wait. Where's (Y/N)?" Alya asks to which I chuckle, "Don't worry, she's okay. She's the one who called me here." I state using my whip to get them out of their chains. We hear footsteps coming down from above and I whisper.

"I'll distract her, you guys stay put okay?" I say sending a look to Marinette who nods. I jump out of a rounded window and shoot myself up to the quarterback of the ship. The villain has already attacked Jagged Stone's get up and is seemingly going for more.

Captain Hardrock grouches at my sight. "Seize her!"

I dodge the attacks of the ship as I aim in towards the compass. Cat Noir and Ladybug enter the scene as I stand my ground evading the chains.

"That was quick," I say to Ladybug who smirks.

"I had some help..." She says and I can tell who it is by the way she's blushing.

"Seize them!" Hardrock exclaims and the ship shoots chains at us.

"The Akuma's in her compass! Cat Noir! You can use your Cataclysm on it!" I say eluding a close call.

"But there are prisoners down in the hold! If you destroy the compass that's attached to the ship, you'll end up wrecking the ship too!" Ladybug states as I battle one on one with Hardrock. We fight on the bow of the ship as I'm accompanied with Cat Noir.

"Lucky Charm!" Ladybug chants and a chain lands on her hands.

"Another chain?" She looks around with her Lucky vision and rushes towards the both of us. The villain lands on the main deck and grabs her sword.

"Seize them!" She says and jumps on the chains toward us.

"Primvère!" Ladybug throws the other end of the chain for me to catch as we charge towards Hardrock, forcing her and tying her to the compass with the chain. Since the chain's made of metal, the compass goes crazy and heads straight for land.

"Land ahoy!" I yell as the ship collides with the land, sending us flying into the air and then flooring the land.

"Cat Noir, now!" Ladybug exclaims and Cat Noir uses his Cataclysm on the compass, destroying the ship as predicted but safely putting the others on the ground. The Akuma flies out and Ladybug de-evilises it.

"Miraculous Ladybug/Primrose!" We chant and everything goes back to normal sending all of us back to the ship's location near the Seine.

"No more injustice in the world and here's a token from a rose~" I intone as purple roses form around me and hover towards the captain. A statue of Liberty the ship falls on her hands.

"Enjoy your gig! Rosé out!" I say and then swing away with my whip.

---

The crew stands in front of the cop as he does the final checking of the sound system.

"It's still a bit loud for my standards and a little over the legal limit." He says which sounds grumbles from all of us.

"But...I'll let it slide on this occasion." He smile making all of us cheer at his decision.

"Can I join in?"

I feel like I'm dreaming as I hear Adrien's voice behind me.

There's no way he's here...

"Adrien!" Marinette waves as she turns me around to the boy walking towards the ship.

"Hey, guys. Hi, ma'am." He greets us as I feel my world brighten at his sight.

"Watch out!"

Adrien trips over an audio chord and nearly falls off.

"Are you okay, dude?" Nino helps him up as the blonde boy laughs, "No, it's all good. I-"

His eyes land on a keyboard case he trips onto.

"Woah. Is this the original ZX20.4?" He asks as he feels it over the case. "I love the sound this thing!" He exclaims, opening up the case.

"Hey, don't you play the piano, Adrien?" I ask out of the blue leading everyone including the captain to look at him, "The Kitty Section kind of need a pianist tonight, don't they, Captain?" I say with which Adrien's eyes light up.

"Yeah, no one knows how to play that thing." She ponders as I give Adrien a look.

"I know how to play it." He says as Luka walks over to him.

"Welcome to the band, Adrien." He says calmly as he pulls him up from his fall.

"Thanks...uh..."

"Luka." He introduces himself as the do a bro hug.

"Two hot guys making a bro pact." Alya sighs, "Hot..."

I chuckle at her choice of words as I stare back at them.

"Is the compass going crazy?" Marinette teases me as she nudges my shoulder. I blush as I turn to her with a similar sly grin, "Hmm, what about yours?"

Her grin drops and it's her time to blush as she stares at Luka again. With long heaving sighs, both of us turn to them watching them as they get accompanied with each other in and around the boat.

"Yeah..."

Maybe it isn't doubt after all.

End Chapter.

Two bros chillin' in a houseboat...

I'm not going to complete that sentence. Although, gurrrll, I need some ice after writing the chapter. Luka is fine as heck and I couldn't leave Marinette alone now could I?? That's a crime.

Anyways, thoughts on Lukanette...or dare I say, Lukadrien?

As always, Stay safe, wash your hands, people.
