Chapter 50 - Falling for Cupid

Charlotte's POV

"Alex!" I screamed, crying and rushed towards him. "Alex! Open your eyes, please." I pleaded, sobbing as I collapsed onto the ground beside him in panic and stroked his cheek, holding his hand.

The police approached Alex and me and checked his pulse while I was looking at my fiancé, dazed. There was the ringing in my eyes, and my head was spinning slightly.

"Is... Is he alive?" I mumbled in fear.

"Yes, but the pulse is low." The police informed me and called one of the paramedics who had walked into the restaurant recently.

"Alex, I am here. Don't worry. You will be fine." I told Alex, still holding his hand, and placed a soft kiss on his forehead, caressing his hair while tears were running down my cheeks uncontrollably.

"Lottie, are you okay?" Romeo rushed towards me anxiously. He gulped as he saw Alex unconscious.

"Romeo, nothing will happen to Alex, yes?" I looked at him with teary eyes.

He gave me a compassionate look and hugged me, pulling me up as the paramedic approached Alex.

"He will be fine, sis. Don't worry." Romeo tried to assure me as he held me against his chest.

I was pacing back and forth in front of the operating room, terrified while praying that nothing happened to Alex.

"Why don't they tell us anything?" I said angrily and ruffled my hair.

"Calm down, Lottie. They will inform us soon." Romeo approached me and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, placing a soft kiss on my hair.

"He will be fine. Don't worry." Sienna gave me a reassuring look, caressing my arm.

Suddenly, the door opened and the doctor walked out.

"How is Alex?" I asked anxiously as  I rushed towards the doctor.

"We removed the bullet. Fortunately, no vital organs were damaged. He just lost a lot of blood. He will be under observation for a few hours. Then we will transfer him to the room." He informed us.

"When can I see him?" I asked hopefully.

"When we transfer him to the room, you may see him." He replied politely and left.

I hugged Romeo happily while crying in relief. He hugged me back, placing a tender kiss on my hair.

"Look, I told you. He will get well soon." He reassured me, stroking my back.

"I hope so."

"He will. Don't worry." Sienna gave me a sympathetic smile and hugged me. I hugged her back.

A few minutes later, my parents arrived at the hospital. My father talked to the doctor and the director of the hospital and asked if there was something else which was needed for Alexis, but both of them informed him that everything was under control, and we should just wait patiently.

After five hours, the doctor informed us that Alex's condition was stable now, and they transferred him to his room. Finally, I was relieved; besides, when the doctor let me see my Greek boy, I felt happy.

As soon as I walked into his room, I rushed towards him. He wasn't awake. The doctor informed me that he would open his eyes soon.

I held his hand and stroked his hair affectionately. I heaved a sigh in relief. It felt like I had been holding my breath.

"I am here, Alex. I will not leave your side till you open your eyes." I said softly as my eyes welled up.

Seeing him in this state made my heart sink. Fortunately, his condition was better now.

I sat down beside him on the chair, holding his hand between my hands, and placed a soft kiss on his hand.

"When I saw the armed guys, only you were in my mind despite the fact they were after Nathan. When I saw that bastard pointed the gun at you, it felt like I couldn't breathe." I confessed honestly as a drop of tear ran down my cheek.

I leaned my cheek against his hand after wiping the tears off my cheeks.

"Maybe Sienna was right... I am not in love with Nathan anymore." I commented, sighing. "It seems some annoying Greek jerk stole my heart." I confessed, giving him a slight smile while he was still sleeping. I sighed and placed a soft kiss on his palm. "Please open your eyes, Alex." I added as tears ran down my cheeks uncomfortably.

I frowned without opening my eyes as I felt something on my hair. Someone was stroking my hair. I opened my eyes immediately as I remembered what happened yesterday.

"Alex! How do you feel? Are you okay?" I asked, concerned as soon as I lifted my head up and stood up, leaning towards him.

"I am fine." He mumbled, giving me a lazy smile.

"I was so worried about you. Don't do it to me again." I admitted as tears ran down my cheeks uncontrollably and I hugged him.

"Ouch!"

"Are you okay? I am sorry. Did I hurt you so much?" I asked, panicked.

He gave me a mischievous smile. "They couldn't kill me. Do you want to finish what they started?"

"Alex! Don't talk nonsense!" I exclaimed angrily.

He chuckled in amusement and grimaced, placing his hand on his abdomen.

"I missed seeing you angry." He commented, amused. "I prefer it than seeing you crying." He added honestly and stroked my cheek.

"I prefer you making me angry than seeing you in that state. I was so scared that I would lose you." I confessed sincerely, holding his hand.

He gave me a bright smile, full of affection in his eyes and squeezed my hand.

***

I was lying on the sun lounger, enjoying the sunny beautiful day. Alex and I arrived in Athens yesterday. Today was his cousin's wedding day.

It had been a month since that awful day. Fortunately, he was healthy now. Moreover, after that incident, we got closer, and it looked like we were dating, but we hadn't talked about our relationship status yet. We went on dates, kissed and made out a few times. I felt so happy and excited.

Every time I saw him, I felt butterflies in my stomach, but I didn't confess my feelings to him, and he didn't force me about it. However, Alex often told me how much he loved me. Despite the fact I wanted to confess that I was in love with him too, something was holding me back; I didn't know what the reason was. Maybe, deep down in my heart, I was afraid of getting hurt again. Even thinking that I could lose him tightened my heart.

I lifted my sunglasses up and stared at my gorgeous Greek god who was getting out of water.

"This man doesn't have mercy on me." I commented under my breath and gulped without managing to take my eyes off his sculpted body.

"Enjoying the view?" He gave me a cocky smirk as he approached me and grabbed the towel on his sun lounger beside me.

"Why not? I have the right to enjoy the beauty of my fiancé, don't I?" I asked provocatively and bit my lower lip seductively.

"Hmm... So it applies to me as well." He commented hoarsely, roaming my body with salacious eyes.

I pursed my lips together as I suddenly felt hot. My Greek devil smirked arrogantly, leaning towards me, and brushed his lips against my lips, kissing me passionately. I rested my hand on the back of his neck, pulling him towards me more while kissing him with the same ardor.

"We will be late. We should get ready." He said, caressing my cheek tenderly as he pulled back. I nodded in disappointment and got up. Alex wrapped his arm around my shoulder, pulling me towards him, and placed a soft kiss on my hair, leading me towards the mansion.

I was trying to zip my dress in front of the mirror when Alexis walked into the bedroom, a towel wrapped around his waist, hanging low.

"Do you need help?" He asked, giving me his charming smile while drying his hair with another towel.

"Yes, please."

He approached me slowly after throwing the towel he was holding in his hand onto the bed. I turned around, holding my dress against my body.

I gulped nervously and bit my lower lip as his breath fanned on my neck while he was standing so close to me. A wave of shivers ran down my spine when his fingers brushed my back. I looked at us in the mirror while my gorgeous Greek was zipping my dress slowly. His every touch set me on fire again and again.

"Be quick! Can't you zip it?" I asked impatiently as the sensation was becoming unbearable; I was holding myself hard not to jump on him.

"Koukla mou, I have a lot of experience in unzipping, not in zipping. But I am trying my best." He replied arrogantly and winked at me in the mirror.

"Jerk!" I exclaimed, giving him a dirty look in the mirror.

When I turned around abruptly, my dress almost fell down; I quickly grabbed it in panic before it could slide down to the floor.
