Chapter 35 - Affection

Charlotte's POV

After hanging up my phone, I went to Alex's office to inform him about the incident on the photoshoot set. Fortunately, no one got seriously injured.

I knocked on the door and walked into his office. He lifted his head up after signing the paperwork and faced me.

"Is everything okay?" He asked, worried.

"Almost." I took a deep breath and informed him about the incident.

"Is she fine now? Did you talk to the doctor?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows, looking concerned.

"Yes, fortunately, she is fine. The doctor said she can leave today." I informed him.

"Good." He sighed in relief and rubbed his temple, closing his eyes.

"Are you fine?" I asked, concerned; his cheeks were flushed and he looked weary.

"Yeah." He mumbled, running his hand through his hair.

I frowned, unconvinced and approached him.

"You have a fever." I exclaimed anxiously as I rested my hand on his forehead.

"I am fine." He said lazily, pulling his head away.

"Yes, for sure." I rolled my eyes and sighed. "You have to rest."

"No, I have a meeting outside." He refused and took a sip from his water.

"No, you aren't going anywhere. Just your home." I stated, determined.

He smiled slightly. "I am fine. Don't worry."

"Alex! It is not up for discussion." I said in an authoritative tone.

"Charlotte, I am fine." He reassured me.

I heaved a loud sigh and grabbed the phone. I called his assistant and ordered her to cancel Alexis' meeting.

"What did you do?!" He exclaimed, annoyed as he stood up abruptly.

When his head spun, I grabbed his arm quickly, catching him, and helped him to sit down.

"You aren't fine, Alex. Don't be stubborn. I will take you home." I stated firmly.

He sighed and nodded. "Fine. I don't think you will leave me alone otherwise." He commented, bored.

"Exactly!" I exclaimed, self-satisfied and flashed a victorious smile.

As soon as we walked into his penthouse, he walked towards the couch and sat down. He looked so weak.

I looked around curiously while taking off my jacket: it was the first time I was in his place. The penthouse was decorated tastefully; the main colours were cream, white and gray.

I approached him and suggested Alex to help him to go to his bedroom. He agreed, stopping being stubborn for the first time, and let me help him to walk towards the bedroom.

Once we arrived, he lay down on the bed and leaned against the headboard after taking off his shoes.

"You should take a shower. Take off your clothes." I said firmly while thinking how I could help him to get better.

He raised his eyebrow and gave me a mischievous smirk. "You are so bold. I like it." He commented seductively and traveled his tongue over his lower lip.

"Shut up." I laughed, rolling my eyes playfully. "You have to take a shower. It will make you better."

He nodded as he straightened and tried to take off his suit jacket.

"Let me help you." I suggested, approaching him as I saw him struggling with his jacket.

After taking off his jacket and tie, I unbuttoned his shirt. Despite the fact I tried to focus on my task, I couldn't stop myself from staring at his sculpted chest.

"What?!" I asked angrily as I noticed him grinning at me.

"Nothing." He gave me a knowing smirk.

I frowned, rolling my eyes, and placed his shirt on the bed.

"It seems you feel slightly better. So you can take care of your left clothes yourself and take a shower." I stated sarcastically.

"No, I feel worse. Don't you feel I still have a fever." He said, shaking his head as he grabbed my hand and placed it on his chest.

I gulped nervously as I felt his hard muscles under my hand while he was looking at me salaciously.

"Then I will make you some soup while you take a shower." I stated, pulling my hand away, and ruffled my hair. "Come on." I added when he wanted to say something and left the bedroom in quick steps as I felt the temperature in the room getting high.

After finishing cooking, I grabbed the tray and went to the bedroom.

I knocked on the door and opened it. When I walked in, I saw Alexis lying on the bed while his eyes were closed.

"The soup is ready." I informed him and placed the tray on the bedside table. Then I sat down beside him on the bed.

He nodded and leaned against the headboard, pulling the cover up towards his chin.

"Don't pull it up. It isn't good for your fever." I commented, pulling the cover down slightly.

"No, it is cold." He refused, trying to pull it back, but I didn't let him.

"You are in your shirt and probably, you wore sweatpants as well. So you don't need to cover yourself till your chin." I stated firmly and grabbed the tray.

He pouted childishly without pulling the cover up.

"What is it?" He asked, pointing to the bowl with a head gesture.

"It is chicken soup. And I brought some medicines to help you to get better." I replied, taking the spoon.

"Are you trying to poison me?" Alexis asked mischievously, raising his eyebrow as I extended the spoon towards his mouth.

"You are so funny." I rolled my eyes playfully. "But not today." I added arrogantly and winked at him.

He grinned in amusement and opened his mouth.

"It is delicious." He commented after eating it.

"Of course, it is. I took a cooking class. You can relax now if you still have doubts about getting poisoned." I said cockily and winked at him.

He gave me a charming smile and continued eating the soup.

After finishing eating, I gave him a glass of water and some medicine. He swallowed the pill and placed the glass on the tray, thanking me.

"You are welcome." I gave him a warm smile as I stood up, holding the tray. "Now rest a little. I will be in the living room. If you need anything, call me."

"You are not leaving?!" He asked happily.

"No. I will stay till you feel better. I am sure you will work as soon as I leave." I stated, giving him a knowing look.

"I don't want to bother you; you probably have plans. Don't worry, I will be fine." He mumbled, running his hand through his hair.

"No, I am not leaving anywhere. I won't leave you alone when you are sick." I stated firmly.

"Thank you so much, Charlotte." He gave me a grateful look.

"Now rest." I gave him a tender smile and left the room, leaving the door ajar; so I could hear him if he called me.

An hour later, I went to the kitchen to make Alex some herbal tea before checking him. Then I went to his bedroom.

When I walked into the room, Alexis was leaning against the headboard, rubbing his eyes. As he noticed me, he gave me a mesmerizing smile.

"I made you some herbal tea." I said softly and approached him.

"You spoil me, koukla mou."

I grinned, amused. "Don't get used to it." I teased him.

He chuckled and started coughing, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Here. Drink it."I extended the cup towards him and sat down on the bed beside him.

He grabbed it quickly and took a few sips from the herbal tea. "Thank you." He gave me a grateful smile as he stopped coughing.

"You are welcome. Are you feeling better?" I asked, resting my hand on his forehead. I frowned as I felt he still had a fever. "Let's take your temperature. I saw a thermometer when I was searching for medicines. I will bring it." I asked.

"No need. I am fine." He pouted childishly.

"But you don't look like that." I stated firmly and went to bring the thermometer.

After taking his temperature, he fell asleep again. I left him alone, letting him sleep. Then I poured a cup of coffee and made a sandwich for myself. I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast. It was evening now.

After finishing eating, I went to the bedroom to check on Alex. I tiptoed into the room as I saw him still sleeping. I leaned towards him and placed my hand on his forehead. I frowned, worried as I felt his fever was high and he was sweating.

I instantly went to bring a bowl filled with water and the cloth. As soon as I came back, I sat down beside him on the bed and placed the bowl on the bedside table. Then I placed the damp cloth on his forehead. He winced without opening his eyes and murmured something, but I didn't understand what he said.

I wiped his cheek, neck after damping the cloth again. Then I placed it on his forehead.

"Charlotte..." He mumbled weakly without opening his eyes.

"I am here." I said softly, caressing his hair tenderly.
