Chapter One

Donghua

The sword that pierced her heart was the reason I felt pain in my, the coldness in her eyes had me frozen as she pinned me with her stare. "Xiao Bai it's my fault, I love you." I whispered softly the coldness evaporated from her eyes and a scared young goddess was standing in front of me. "I am sorry I made you like this, I am sorry I have been so foolish." She dropped to her knees and called me softly. "Dijiun." She smiled as she closed her eyes and she stopped breathing. "Xiao Bai!" I screamed myself awake.

I woke up with sweat beads on my face and I sighed for the past three days I have been haunted by this dream or rather this nightmare. I woke up and went outside to find Xiao Bai arguing with one of the guards. "Let her in." I said softly and the guard stepped away. "Dijiun." She greeted me in her childish manner. "What are you doing here?" The smile she had on her face slipped and she left without saying a word.

I stared at the place where she was standing and reminisced about the first time I saw her, Xiao Bai had always been mischievous even the Fox Emperor and Empress have punished her a couple of times. I met Xiao Bai when she was twenty thousand years old, she was running in the direction of the demonic beasts which unfortunately had a snake pit that she once fell into when she was a baby, she wasn't paying attention and the demonic beast came out she tried to use her magic but she was too scared instead she screamed and took of running knowing she wasn't going to get far, I flew down and grabbed her just in time before the beast could attack her.

She had clung to me like the clouds cling to the sky not wanting to let go. "Let go." I had said in a cold voice she let go of me but the way she looked at me had me unsettled. "May I know my saviours name." She bowed. "Don't you know who I am?" I asked in a softer tone and she shook her head. "Emperor Dong Hua Dijiun." She gasped. "That's not possible." She said in disbelief I cocked my head to the site. "I-I mean it's so unexpected." She frowned. "Why do you say that?" I asked softly. "For such an old man you look like a pretty boy." I laughed. "A pretty boy?" She nodded her head and without a word I turned away from and started walking away, just like I had expected she followed me but she was too caught up in her thoughts so I decided to stop and she bumped into me. "Sorry." She mumbled. "Why are you following me?" I asked nonchalantly. "Well you had saved me, it's only right that I repay you." She said simply. "There's no need for that." Suddenly she stood in front of me in a protective stance and a second later an arrow came shooting at our direction and she caught the  arrow, my heart was unsettled again. "It seems that I owe you now, what do you want?" I asked softly. "Something priceless." Then she giggled softly. "What's your name?" She bowed again. "Bai Fengjiu of Qingqiu." The flower on her forehead was the first thing I noticed and it felt like it was hypnotizing me. "You're the Princess Qingqiu." She smirked at me, I walked away from her and she followed me again. "Are you going to follow me all day?" I asked and she stopped walking. "Who said I'm following you." A small smile was on my lips and I continued walking, she followed me until I arrived in heaven.

She whimpered softly and I turned to look at her. "What's wrong?" She quickly hid her hand behind her. "Nothing, I'm fine." I walked towards her and she took a step back, I took another step forward and she took another step back until her back was against the wall, I grabbed her hand that she had fisted.

I opened it and a very deep cut was in the middle of her palm, I could feel her shaking. "Are you afraid?" I asked and she nodded her head. "I'm very afraid of pain." She whispered softly. "You protected me from the arrow even though you knew, you'd get hurt." I said and she smiled sheepishly at me, I healed her palm and kissed it gently. "Go home." Then I went back inside my palace and sat by my low table  and drank the cup of tea while my mind thought about her, for some reason I knew that it wasn't the last time I saw her and for some reason that made feel warm it made me feel something else I couldn't quite explain and I was looking forward to seeing her again.

A ray of sunlight has landed in my hands will it shine brighter like I hope? Or it will fail me like the many I am reluctant and unwilling.

A ray of sunlight has landed in my palms and I am nervous for the future that I don't know, what will happen and is supposed to happen there is a fine line.

The ray of sunlight that has landed on my hands may suffer that she could ever know, selfishly I don't want her to go or leave.
