Part 14

Testing continued for a few weeks, but to no avail. The lab couldn't figure out the right formula. "Let's take a break. Lunch?" One of the other tech assistants asked Dabi. "Yeah. Lunch sounds good." Dabi was directed towards the cafeteria. "I'll send Hawks when he gets done." Dabi thanked the alpha and sat down to eat. "Daddy!" "Hey, devil." Hinokuma sat next to her father. "How test go?" "Hey, sorry I'm late." Keigo said out of breath. "It's all good." The three year old smiled. "Mama!" Keigo smiled. "We think we're close." "Kei, I can't do this anymore. I'm tired. The pills don't work. I just want to go home." Keigo nodded as he took a bite of food. "Ok. After lunch, I'll take you guys home. You're not obligated to be here."

After lunch, Dabi left to pack up Hinokuma's things. While in the hallway, he heard a familiar voice. "No. I'm busy." "Oh come on, Kei." One was definitely Keigo. Dabi stopped and peered from around the corner. "And I told you I'm married." "That's never stopped me before." "It really should have." Dabi watched as Keigo picked up the woman and pushed her against the wall. Dabi's eyes widen as he watched his husband and this woman share a kiss. He then ran back to quickly pack. "Hey! Why so fast?" "Bakugo." Dabi couldn't hold back his tears. "C-can I get you take Hino and I home? Please." "Sure." Then the three left.

Keigo pushed his coworker against the wall and whispered in her ear. "You leave me the fuck alone. We are done. And I will not betray my husband's trust. You got that? Continue like this, and I'll have you reported." The woman nodded as she went back to work. "Alright. Let's get baby bird and snowbird home."

As soon as Dabi stepped through the door, he sent Hinokuma to her room to play and called Spinner. Once Spinner arrived, he was pulled to the master bedroom and the door was locked.

A few hours later Keigo came home. "Hey, they told me Bakugo took you guys home. I wish you would've told me. Hino?" Keigo saw his daughter sitting in the couch crying. "Daddy won't let me in. Hungry. Mama." She reached for her father. "Hey. It's ok. I'll make you some Mac n cheese. Sound good?" "Dabi normally leaves the door open in case Hino needs something. What's different about this time?" He brushed it off and told Hinokuma that Dabi was simply tired. A few moments later the omega and Spinner stepped out of the room. "Thanks again for the debrief." "Uh. No problem." Spinner let himself out. "Oh so you're home."

"Hino, I think it's bedtime." Keigo said as he picked her up and carried her to the room. Once he had her laid down and tucked in, he went to his husband. "His scent is all over you. What happened?" "Nothing you haven't done yourself."

Hinokuma couldn't really sleep. She sat up and hugged her favorite plush, a little hawk, as she cried hearing her parents argue. "You constantly jump to conclusions. Get a hold of yourself." "Am I? Am I really?" The two argued again until Hinokuma caught something Dabi said. "If it weren't for her, Stain wouldn't" He was cut off. "Don't you dare blame Hino." There was a brief moment of silence. "You and I apparently need some time apart." Hinokuma then heard footsteps. She panicked and tired to look like she'd been asleep the whole time. "Come on, snowbird. Daddy needs some time to cool off." A bag got packed and the two left.

Dabi screamed out as the door closed and he called Shinso. Meanwhile Keigo took Hinokuma back to lab and set up a sleeping area for her. "Hello? Is someone here?" "Relax. It's just me." Endeavor turned the corner. "Hawks? What are you doing here?" Keigo explained the situation. "I won't have you here by yourself. I'll have Rei set up a room for you two. You can stay at my house." Keigo thanked his boss and the group left.

"Hi. Enji told me you'd come by. Have you two eaten yet?" The omega welcomed her husband and his employee. "We have. Thank you anyway." She simply nodded as she prepared a plate for Endeavor. Things between the two got better. "Shoto doesn't bring his kids around. Understandably so." Rei held the girl. "Pretty." "Why thank you." Endeavor looked at Hinokuma. "Remarkable that she possesses some of our traits. You'd think she was a Todoroki." The group laughed it off as they got ready for bed.

"Mama? Why daddy mean to you?" "You heard?" Hinokuma nodded. "Daddy is. Daddy. I don't know." Keigo struggled with the words. "Some very bad things happened to him in the past. And." He stopped. "It'll all work out. Don't worry. A week at most. Then we'll be a family again." Hinokuma smiled as she drifted to sleep. "Hopefully."

Meanwhile Dabi sat on the couch of his brother's living room. "You fucking what?" "I slept with Spinner, ok?" Shinso sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "Why? Firstly: why cheat in the first place? Secondly: why Spinner of all people?" Kaminari trudged into the room holding Nezumi. "She won't go back to sleep. What the hell is going on?" "Dabi cheated on Kei. With Spinner." "The fuck would you do that for?" Dabi explained what he saw at the lab. Kaminari handed Shinso his daughter. "Listen. You're the one in the wrong here. Even if Kei did cheat, which we all know he wouldn't, cheating isn't the way to solve it." "Please at least tell me Hino wasn't home." Dabi hesitated. "You fucker. With your daughter in the house?" Dabi felt that deep rage within him. "If it wasn't for her, Stain wouldn't have fucking broke in to kill her. I wouldn't have been fucking raped." "You don't get to blame a child for shit." Shinso's pheromones released causing Kaminari and Dabi both to shake. "Hinokuma never asked to be born. That was your mistake. Cheating on your husband is your mistake. Fucking the guy who idealized your rapist, was your mistake. Not everything is an alpha's fault. Get your shit together. And take some fucking responsibility." Shinso took his daughter back to her room and urged Kaminari to the master. Dabi was left on the couch, alone with his thought. "I fucked up."
