Chapter Four

"Keigo, we're gonna be late!" You screamed.

You hurried to get dressed, wanting it to be casual, but like... important casual. You're going to meeting with your mother and you don't want to show up like you just woke up which is what you totally did. You completely forgot that this was one of the days that Hawks is free and you thought it'd be perfect to see your parents.

"We'll be fine," Hawks chuckled, going into the walk in closet.

You turned on the shower, removing Hawks's hoodie that you slept in and your shorts. You hurried as you shower, washing your body and your face, stepping out the shower. As you hurried to get ready and dressed, Hawks is dressed nicely himself and he's getting Naofumi dressed too. You didn't really have to worry about how nice Naofumi is going to be because Hawks is fashionable himself. More fashionable than you.

Once you finished getting ready, you see Naofumi being held in Hawks's arms. You looked at your son's happy face, the smile on his lips as he's wearing at hoodie that has Hawks written on the front and in the back of the hoodie, his wings are on the back of it. It's a cute hoodie for fans, but you didn't think that Hawks himself would buy a hoodie like that. Naofumi also has black shorts on too with the low top Vans on.

You smiled at Hawks and Naofumi. "My two favorite boys are looking good."

"We should only be your two favorite boys," Hawks whined, playfully narrowing his eyes at you. "Beside, I'm not a boy! I'm a man, [Name]."

"Whatever, Keigo," you laughed, shaking your head. "That dark cardigan looks good on you."

Hawks is in front of you quickly, a playful smirk on his lips. "You're lookin good too, babe. We might even make a baby again, but this time on purpose."

You blushed profoundly, clearing your throat as you pushed Hawks's face away from you. You looked away from him, pulling your lips into a thin line as you didn't want to have him see your face being as red as a tomato. He's going to tease you more if he were to see your face. Plus after hearing those words leave his mouth, you're sure if he says something else flirty or flirty-dorky, you won't survive.

"Awe, you're so cu—"

You covered his mouth with your hand.

"Shut up, pigeon," you hissed, moving away from him. You let out a sigh, crossing your arms. "We're going to be late, Keigo." You glanced at him, a pout on your lips. "So... when we meet her, would you like me to address you as Hawks or Keigo?"

Hawks drops his playful mood, his serious gaze meeting yours. "For now, let's just play it safe. I know it's been awhile since we've seen your mother, but out of respect, I only want you knowing."

"That's sweet of you," you laughed, fully facing him. Naofumi is in his arms, the little boy clutching on Hawks's cardigan. "We better get going then. If she's already there, wouldn't want her to keep waiting."

***

You kept bouncing your leg, sitting besides Hawks with Naofumi sitting between the two of you. You figured that you wouldn't as nervous as you are, but it's your mother. You don't want to disappoint her or anger her. You would love to avoid that, but you did have a child with a man who you are not married to. Although you could care less if you weren't married to Hawks. He treats you just fine and the two of you are great. Marriage has never crossed your mind because you're happy right now.

You flinched, hearing the owner of the restaurant voice and you let out a sigh of relief. The owner is on good terms with Hawks and allowed your little family to have the back of the restaurant. Hawks comes to this restaurant quite a few times while he's at work and he likes how they cook the chicken here, plus they have mochi and he always makes sure to get you some too.

You jump when a hand settles on your shoulder then Hawks's soothing voice comes next. "You're shaking like a leaf, [Name]."

"I haven't seen or talked to my mother in a long ass time, Hawks," you stated, looking at him with clear fear in your eyes. "I love her, but I'm scared if I disappoint her or anger her. I'm glad we have our backs towards the entrance, but that's also scary because I don't want to look over my shoulder just in case she's coming."

"You know, I'll always be your hero, right?" Hawks reminded, a soft smile on his lips. You looked at him, the fear still in your eyes. "I won't let anything happen to you, [Name]. No matter what your mother says, I'm still staying and I'm not going anywhere."

You let out a nervous laugh. "What's gotten into you?"

Hawks pouts. "I'm trying to make you feel better, [Name]! You're ruining my cool moment with that question."

"I'm sorry," you laughed, Hawks's pout goes away and he gives you a smirk. "So what did you order?"

Hawks laughed. "Isn't it obvious? I ordered anything that has chicken in it."

"That's practically the whole menu, Hawks!" You hissed, lightly punching his shoulder. You smiled at him, resting your head on his shoulder and you let out a sigh. "Thank you."

"Like I said, I'm your hero," Hawks chuckled, wrapping his arm around your shoulder. He lets out a hum and Naofumi is playing with one of Hawks's feathers. "Someone just came in."

You looked down at your son. "It's probably her."

Hawks shifts, looking over his shoulder and he squeezes your shoulder. "Yeah it is. She's coming this way."

You let out a sigh, removing your head from Hawks's shoulder and you sit straight. You saw movement from the side of your eye and watched as your mother sits across from you and Hawks. Her eyes instantly fall on Naofumi, the 6 month-old playing with a vermilion feather in his hands. She keeps staring at him while you and Hawks glanced at each other in confusion as to why she hasn't said anything.

"Hey mom..." You trailed off, your heart hammering in your chest. She doesn't respond, her gaze locked onto your son. "How's it going, mom?"

Your mother glances up at you. "So that's why you haven't been in action, huh?"

"Yeah," you nodded your head. Hawks doesn't remove his arm from around your shoulder and you place a hand on top of Naofumi's head. "His name is Naofumi and he's your grandchild."

Your mother crosses her arms, scowling at you. "He's a mistake."

"Don't say that," you hissed, scowling at your mother. "He's my son and I won't let you call him that. How he was conceived was an accident, but I was on the pill. We love him despite that."

"He's still a mistake and you're not even married yet," your mother sighed, rubbing her face. "You're too young for a baby and you're busy with work too. Is your life even stable? And here I thought you wanted to catch up."

You gritted your teeth, feeling the tears swell in your eyes. You shouldn't really have expected your mother to just accept that you had a kid while still young and not married. You just weren't expecting her to straight up call your son a mistake. You didn't see the pregnancy as a mistake and Hawks didn't either. The two of you love Naofumi and are grateful he's part of your lives.

You opened your mouth, but Hawks places his hand on top of your leg. You looked to Hawks, the man giving you a small smirk and a glance before he looks to your mother. She looks at the two of you, question in her eyes and you place your hand on top of his. The tears roll down your cheeks when he takes yours into his and he squeezes it firmly, but gently.

"Ma'am, I know we haven't talked much," Hawks started, giving your mother a serious look. The playfulness is gone and the firm, but polite look his on his expression. "But if you're worried that she's not stable by finically, you won't have to worry because she has her own source of income and she has me too." You wiped your tears, staring at Hawks's side profile. "If you think that she's going to be a single mother in her early twenties, you don't have to worry because I'm not leaving her. Ever."

"Hawks..." You whispered.

"If you're worried that her and Naofumi will be in danger, she's more than capable of protecting herself and our son and I am also capable of protecting the two of them," Hawks stated, a smirk tugs on his lips and he tilts his head, looking at your mother with slightly narrowed eyes. "Or is it the fact that she's not married yet?"

"N-No!" Your mother yelled, glaring at Hawks. "I wanted her to experience life before she decided to get pregnant!"

Hawks smiles. "I'm sure [Name] can still experience life with our son. You either wanted her to settle down or be with someone else, right?"

Your mother clicks her teeth, looking away. "Can't a mother what her daughter happy?"

"And she is happy," Hawks stated confidently. He smiles widely at you and you blushed, Naofumi tugging on your clothes. You take your son into your arms, letting him sit on your lap. "And if she wasn't happy. She'd tell me, but I can assure you that she's happy and perfectly safe."

You looked at your mother. "Mom, we haven't told the public about Naofumi. The only people that know are my students and colleagues at the high school, but other than that, no one really knows. We wanted to tell you first."

"I appreciate that, but I'm still not going to accept him as my grandchild," your mother stated. You and Hawks look at her in disbelief. "I like Hawks, don't get me wrong. But I doubt his abilities while the two of you are still young. Perhaps when the two of you are older and married, I might accept it, but as of now. I don't want any part of that child's life."

Your mother stands up, leaving you and Hawks astonished from the outcome while Naofumi just plays with a vermillion feather and sits in your lap.
