they sat at a booth, even though it would just be the two of them. valerie for bacon, eggs and hash browns and ashtray that the same, plus sausage which made valerie give him a disgusted look.

"what?" ashtray mugged.

"sausage is gross." she stated, taking a bite of her hash browns.

he squinted his eyes, "have you ate them before?"

she mocked him, "no, and i never will."

he rolled his eyes, stuffing his mouth with the sausage, leaning forward to be closer to valerie, causing her face to scrunch. "nasty ass." she mumbled, taking a bite of her bacon.

ashtray chuckled, eyeing her milkshake. she looked up at him, following her eyes she shook her head when realizing. "one sip?" ashtray sarcastically smiled.

"no, i told you to get your own, that's you're fault." she shrugged, pulling her milkshake farther away from ashtray.

he huffed, putting some of his eggs in his mouth. he looked to the side at the people next to them, thinking for a second. "that looks hella good."

valerie turned her head to the side, looking and their food. she furrowed her eyebrows, "what?"

when she turned back to him, he had her milkshake in his hands, the straw in his mouth. she immediately reached forward, taking it back. "you thirsty ass!"

he laughed, ignoring her comment as he continued to eat his food. valerie did the same as him, finishing her bacon and eating some of her eggs before leaning back.

she laid her hands on the table, tapping her freshly done nails across it. some times when maddy would go to get hers done, valerie would go with her, just to sit with her as company but the last time she decided to get hers done since she hadn't in a while.

ashtray looked down at her nails, then catching his attention. "you know, we should count this as a date." valerie told him, as he started to play with her hands, looking at her nails.

"mm, sure." he shrugged.

valerie watched his actions, smiling a little at how interested he looked. she didn't want to sit listening to the conversation the family next to them was having, so she decided to start her own.

"did you read the letter yet?"

ashtray sat her hands down, going back to his food as his nodded. "i think you're the soft one, val."

she rolled her eyes playfully, smiling. "you came to my house at midnight because you wanted to see me, i dunno, ash." she joked.

he shook his head, letting her have that one. the two changed the topic to something else and continued to talk, pausing every now and then to eat, until they finished and ashtray payed, not giving valerie the chance to, then the two left, walking slowly back in the direction of valerie's house.

even though it was getting warmer due to summer coming, the night was windy and cold, making valerie glad she still had on her cargo pants when ashtray came to her window.

ashtray told her that he didn't want them to be outside that late for too long, so even with valerie trying to convince him that it was okay, that they could do something else and go back later on, ashtray disagreed and continued walking in the direction of her house.

the two teenagers eventually made it, walking around the house and back to her window. valerie too a deep breathe, kissing ashtray on his cheek before opening the window wider and grabbing onto the window seal.

valerie hated the thought of ashtray walking alone, even if he had walked alone in the first place to get her, so she turned back around. "stay the night."

his eyebrows raised, "ion want you gettin in trouble, val."

she shrugged, "i won't, cmon."

he seemed hesitant, not wanting to be the reason his girlfriend gets in trouble. "i can walk home, valerβ€”"

valerie huffed, "ashtray, you're not walking home, i don't care."

realizing she wasn't gonna give up, he sighed and did a gesture, telling her to go first. she sent him a sarcastic smile, before climbing into the room, quickly walking over to her door to lock it and then helping ashtray climb through.

once they both were in, she closed the window and the curtains, taking off her hoodie and grabbing shorts before turning to see ash laid out on her bed, his shoes off and his arms under one of her pillows. she chuckled, going in her closet to change into the shorts, before putting her cargo pants in her dirty clothes and walking out.

she grabbed her remote, un-pausing on my block before laying down next to ashtray. she put half her body under the covers, getting comfortable. she felt ashtray put his arm around her waist and bring her closer to him, while one of his arms was still under the pillow.

ashtray always found valerie's bed more comfortable than his. she had soft pillows that were cold every time he'd seem to lay on them, her blanket wasn't too thick and her mattress was like memory foam. plus her room smelt good, due to her always lighting candles and the perfume she'd pray, and the dim light from her lamp, it made the room feel cozy. that why ashtray was tired most of the time when he went over to valerie's house.

and valerie thought the complete opposite. she never seemed to be able to get comfortable in her bed, despite keeping it well made and clean. maybe it was because she was used to it, and it just wasn't doing it for her anymore. and she stared at the pictures on her wall and how she put her room everyday, plus smelt her favorite candle, that it was now boring to her. but ashtrays rooms was comforting. it wasn't really decorated, but he kept it clean most of the time, and his bed was soft, comfy.

maybe it was just the fact that they felt the most comfortable when they were laying next to each other, and that made where ever they were, more comfortable, not so boring.
