ashtray was un suspended, and fezco was picking valerie up, to take them both to school. valerie was only nervous about seeing her two friends she was currently mad at, but other than that... she was over worrying about everyone else.

someone was always going to think the worse of her, see her as a maddy clone, believe every rumor they hear. she couldn't control that, and she was tired of trying.

it took her too long to realize that she was draining herself by worrying about everyone, but herself.

and so she was making a promise to herself to drop it. what happened to her was in the past, she got her peace and revenge by watching her boyfriend beat his ass, and now she only had to worry about victoria and daniel.

she cared about them both a lot, and she knew she'd me hurt if after the argument, the friendship ends. but it's a part of life, right? friendships end, you make new ones, you grow as a person and move on.

that's how she thought, anyway.

ashtray gave her a reassuring nod as the two parted to go to their own lockers, and once valerie stood alone she waited. she waited for either victoria or daniel, or both, to come up to her and ask her what she meant by her texts.

and they did.

"hey.." she heard next to her, and turned to see daniel with a confused victoria next to him.

valerie sighed, "hi."

"are you okay?" victoria asked her.

victoria had known her, basically all of her life. she knew stuff was going on with valerie, but she didn't tell her everything anymore, so she was completely clueless about what exactly it was. or who.

"i'm fine." valerie shrugged.

"and those texts? the fuck did that mean?" dani asked.

valerie laughed a little, "how i feel?"

victoria looked between the two, not knowing what to say or do.

"how you feel?..." daniel was basically asking her to explain further.

valerie shook her head, "i just think it's fucked up i introduced you two, and i'm the one being left."

"being left? we're not leaving you." victoria raised her eyebrows.

"you don't text me for two days and then i come to school and y'all completely don't even see that i'm here.. seems like i'm being left, vic." valerie said exactly how she felt.

the two stood quiet, neither knowing how to respond.

"it's fine though, you know. the whole 'trio' thing, one person is usually always left." valerie added, closing her locker.

"valβ€” what does this mean? i mean, we don't text you and all of a sudden we're not friends?" victoria threw her hands up.

"i didn't say we're not friends i justβ€” i don't know, victoria. i don't know." valerie sighed.

"you've been with ashtray.. 24/7, valerie. it's kind of hard for all three of us to hangout when you're up his ass all the time." dani shrugged.

val chuckled, "he's been there for me.. for everything, you two haven't."

"oh, what have i not been there for-" daniel began saying, but valerie cut him off. "i was almost raped. i didn't come to school and i wasn't okay, and neither of you noticed anything."

not wanting any awkwardness, and the silence between both of them making it awkward, valerie walked away. she had said enough, she told them how she felt, even if she was wrong, it's how she felt.

after school she seen many, many texts from both daniel and victoria apologizing and asking if she's okay and what happened to her, but she ignored all of it. she didn't want to explain it again, and she didn't know how to answer the others.

she felt.. bad, for everything she said at school. she felt like she had pitted them into apologizing and that maybe she overreacted just a little.

but that was her worrying about how they felt instead of herself, again.

she sat staring at the flowers ashtray had gotten her for the one month, it brought her to thinking about how their two months was soon and what they could do for it.

she heard a knock of her door and turned at the sound of it opening, and saw maddy. she lightly smiled at her, "hey."

"hey." maddy greeted, sitting on her bed.

maddy wanted to talk to valerie about something that had been on her mind, but didn't know how to go about it, she was nervous.

"have you talked to cassie lately?" valerie asked her.

"fuck no." maddy chuckled, causing valerie to laugh.

"yeah, i'm in an argument with victoria and dani too." valerie told her.

"what, why?" maddy asked.

"i don't know... i saw them hanging out without me, and the whole 'there's always a duo in a trio' thing, you know? it just pissed me off that i'm the one being left out, i guess." valerie tried her best to explain it.

maddy nodded, "yeah, that's fucked up."

valerie shrugged in response, not knowing what to actually say.

after a couple seconds of silence maddy sighed, laying down on her back. "i think i'm going to leave."

valerie looked up at her through the mirror that was on her desk, "leave..?"

maddy nodded, looking up at the ceiling. "yeah, like, move."

valerie's lips parted, that being the last thing she expected. she had never thought about being alone, living with her parents without maddy. even though she knew maddy was now eighteen and it was going to happen sooner or later... she had hoped it wasn't this soon.

"like... soon?" valerie asked her.

maddy shrugged, turning to her. "what do you think?"

"i'm gonna miss you." valerie told her honestly, laughing a little.

maddy sighed, getting up and wrapping her arms around valerie. "i know, i'm sorry. i just hate it here, too much shits happened, ya know?"

valerie nodded, "i know, it'll be better for you, anyway... away from nate." she mumbled the last part.

maddy chuckled, "yeah.."
