I tried to think of how me and Sophie did this when we were younger but brontes mind was a bit more difficult to get into.

Eventually i was able to get into his mind

"You are thinking that I will not be able to read your mind and that Kenric needs to focus on the task instead of Oralie." I say out loud

"Judging by your face Bronte I take it she's right." Alden said stifling a laugh

Oralie and Kenric were both cherry red and Bronte looked so pale his face looked like snow.

" How my mind is supposed to be impenetrable. I demand a probe" Bronte was still furious that I had gotten into his mind.

"I planned on that so I scheduled an appointment with Quinlin." Alden started "

"No not with Quinlin but with Kenric." Bronte interrupted

Kenric glanced up from the table at the mention of his name and Alden's face paled for a split second so fast that I thought I had imagined it. Alden slowly nodded not really having much of a choice. 

"Whats a probe" Me and Sophie asked at the same time

"A probe is just a different way of mind reading. It happens all the time so there's no reason to worry" Alden answered but his face said the opposite.

Kenric approached me first. He gave me a warm reassuring smile before putting his hands on my temples.

It was two hundred eighty nine seconds before Kenric pulled his hands away and shook his head before he turned to Bronte saying "I could not get into her mind."

"Try her sister," Bronte replied roughly. Kenric nodded.

He did the same thing with Sophie with no avail.I grabbed Sophie's hand and squeezed it tightly. It felt good having something to hold on to.

Bronte spoke up "I've had enough to know my decision I vote against and nothing will change my mind."

I felt Sophie stiffen next to me.

Kenric spoke up next "I vote in favor. I have never seen someone with an impenetrable mind and I am looking forward to seeing what you are able to do. You two are even natural at our language."

"Wait what, we have been speaking a different language?" I asked

"Yes we have been speaking the Enlightened Language since we got here." FItz explained

Oralie was the last one to decide "Give me your hands."

"Oralie is an empath which means she can feel what you're feeling as long as she has physical touch." Alden told us

I gave Oralie my hand and following my example so did Sophie

"I feel nervous but still confident and something else that does not have a name." Oralie said "I vote in favor." 

I heard Sophie sigh next to me.

After the councilors left Alden told us that he needed to talk with us then he led us to his office. The walls were like an aquarium filled with fish that neither me or Sophie had ever seen.

"So this is not going to be easy to hear but." Alden paused
