"Alright. As I already stated, you'll need to exchange contacts first. And I'm handing your first assignment out now." Ms. Baker says, passing around papers. I skim over it, something about going on a trip and taking notes.

"What is this?" I ask.

"You'll need to ask your parents permission. Each week we'll go somewhere on Thursdays, you guys will pick the place. We'll then take notes on why you chose this place." Mrs. Baker smiles.

"Not to be rude or anything but this sounds like...really boring." Graham cuts.

"I don't think my parent will agree to this." I say. Ms. Baker smiles again.

"I think a phone call from me will be able to convince them, don't worry much about that." she assures. I shrug. Jihoon slides his phone over to me, and I give him a puzzled look.

"She said we need to exchange contacts, so give me your number and I'll text you so you have mine." He explains. I put in my number after handing my own phone to Jinx. Madeline writes down her number and passes it around, Graham just says his out loud when we are ready. Ms. Baker walks around as we fill out information on the sheets.

"By the way, when you saved each other's contacts, I hope you included the last name. When writing each other's names, you need to include the first and last name." She says.

"Mine's Carry." I announce as everyone pulls their phones out again.

"Somer." Jinx adds.

"Is it spelled like the season?" Madeline asks.

"No, S-o-m-e-r." Jinx corrects.

"Urban." Graham sighs.

"Mines Shire. S-h-i-r-e" Madeline says.

"Lee." Jihoon says last.

"L-i?" Graham asks.

"Am I chinese?" Jihoon jokes. Madeline shrugs. He looks around at us.

"You really can't tell the difference between asians?" He asks.

"You're Korean right? The most common surnames are Park, Kim, and Lee right? And Jihoon is a Korean name, yes?" I answer. He nods.

"L-e-e" Jihoon corrects, glancing at Graham.

"Honestly, I'm just glad to be out of class." Jihoon says.

"Why? Don't you get all A's and tutor people because you're so smart?" Graham snorts.

"You know, not all Asians are automatically geniuses. Are you always going to be racist?" Jihoon growls.

"I'm not being racist, I'm just speaking fact." Graham snaps back.

"Guys-" Madeline sighs.

"Well if saying that worked, racism wouldn't exist. Right?" Jihoon asks, starting to rise from his seat. I grab his arm and look over at Graham.

"Do you not get all A's? Don't you tutor?" Graham asks with a smirk.

"I do." Jihoon spits back, "but that's no reason to be disrespectful to me."

"Are you done?" Ms. Baker asks, clearing her throat. She had been typing on her laptop at another table in the corner of the room.

"I can't do this if these two morons are going to be going back and forth trying the prove who has bigger bal-"

"That's enough, Madeline." Ms. Baker interrupts. Madeline shrugs, crossing her arms and leaning back in her chair.

"The number one rule in this class will be no fighting." Ms. Baker stands and looks between Graham and Jihoon. "That included insults or arguing. Those who break the rules face an automatic demerit and will be kicked from the class, losing any extra credit they may have earned."

"Yes, ma'am." the five of us say in unison. She nods, obviously satisfied that we at least respected her, if not each other. Not that I had a problem with any of them, but Madeline was right about one thing: the last place I wanted to be was in a room of people arguing. This wouldn't end well for anyone if we were at each other's throats the whole time.

One by one, we finished our papers and waited for further instructions. We sat in silence, avoiding eye contact with anyone else. Ms. Baker walked around a few times, making comments and answering questions. When the bell rang, we all stood to our feet.

"You're dismissed. I'll see you guys next Monday. Don't fight, you need each other to finish the projects." Ms. Baker said, not bothering to look in our direction. We file out of the room, I follow behind Jinx.

"Aye Jinx, tell your sister to hit me up!" a boy yells from down the hallway. We both turn our heads in his direction. Her face gets red and she suddenly starts walking the other direction. I let several people get in between us, but follow after her. I was a master at blending in and making myself nearly invisible.

"Jinx!" The boy calls, nearly beside her now.

"Please leave me alone." I hear her say.

"Hey, screw you. Just let your sister know." He snaps, I see him push her slightly. I'm on him before I have time to think, stepping between him and Jinx. He gives me a dirty look and walks off.

"It's fine, you don't have to do that." Jinx whispers behind me.

"Fine? Fine with who? You? Well it's not fine with me. Jerks like him deserve to be punched in their dirty mouths. Don't tell your sister crap about him." I whisper back. She shrugs and disappears into the thinning crowd. I make my way to my own class and try to cool down. I didn't like fighting.

And I hated yelling.
