5 - When your day turns upsidedown

Shoto POV:

I blink and stare at the boy in the leaves to check I wasn't hallucinating.

No. There really was a boy in the royal gardens.

Then I look to the side and see another girl with brown hair, and next to her a girl with green hair, and next to her a boy with blue hair.

My father grumbles as he leaves the area. The two servants leave as well.

"What in Hymus's name.." I say, locking my eyes with the first boy again.

He tentatively reveals himself fully and smiles nervously. I raise an eyebrow. He was obviously a commoner, his clothes gave that away. But what was he doing in the royal gardens?

And why was he so, goddesses be damned, pretty?

"Hi?" The boy says.

I blink again.

"Um, sorry for trespassing, it was a mistake." He says.

I take a step back. "How did.. it's not possible.." I mutter. If four teenagers were able to get into the palace without being detected, then assassins or kidnappers could as well. "Oh Etris, this is not good."

The boy saw my hidden look of distress. "Hey, are you okay?" He says.

"How did you get in?" I say, my voice cold as ice again.

The boy teeters to the side and laughs nervously.

"Um, me and my friends found a tunnel that led here." He says. "It was a really long walk."

I glance over at his other friends, who were currently staring at me in surprise.

"You need to leave." I say. "If my father or any guards found you, you could be arrested or executed."

The boy gulps nervously. "Well that's not good." He says. "But my name is Izuku Midoriya. You can call me Izuku."

I stare at him for a moment.

"Aaand I already know your name so hi!" Izuku says. I blink again. He extends his hand in a weird sort of manner between us.

I don't move.

Izuku stops smiling when his eyes move down to where my bruise was now fading into existence. It already was a dark purple color, about 3 inches wide.

"Are you okay?" He says. I shift my eyes to the ground. "We saw what happened."

I glare back at him. "Nothing happened." I say coldly. "It was just training."

Izuku stares at me. "With all due respect, Your Highness, that was abuse." He says.

"Your Highness, we just want to help you." The brown haired girl says. I glance at the sliding door.

"There's nothing to help." I say defensively.

Izuku sighs. "Well, we'll leave, but we live in the East Village if you want to.. talk." He said evasively.

I hesitate before nodding, and then the four of them leave.

After the sound of their footsteps fade, I wait for a few minutes. I sigh.

Then a large thud, coming from the door, startled me. I turn to the door and see my two personal guards.

"Your Highness!" One of them, Ojiro, cries out. "You can't just stay outside without any guards!"

"Yeah!" The other one, Sero, says. "It makes our job so much harder."

I dip my head in a nod, even though my mind was on Izuku.

"Sorry." I say.

I saw the moment when the two saw my bruise, their faces scrunched up in concern.

"Your Highness, let's go to your room and have you get the rest the servant recommended." Sero said. "That's the purpose of stopping training, yes?"

I sigh and follow them inside.

...

"Pleaseee, mom!" I say, my four year old voice squeaking. "Tell me again!"

My mother smiled. "Which story, my ice cube?" She says, using an old nickname.

"Breva! Breva!" I cheer, jumping up and down.

My mom laughed, her white hair swishing in the summer breeze. We were outside, in the gardens. A arch of branches and leaves covered us from the sun. The grass was as tall as my knees, which wasn't that taller since I was young. The sun shined through the trees that also surrounded us, making it hard to see the 8 soldiers that were guarding us.

"Alright, sit down." She said. I did so, snuggling into her white shirt.

"A long, long time ago, there was no one on earth." Rei starts, making me quiet. "No one but the goddesses and their god. But Breva, the goddess of children, was lonely in her home. So she decided to go and create the first women."

I giggle, I always loved this part.

"This women was named Hestona, a beautiful girl with dark red hair." Rei said. "Hestona was grateful, Breva had giving her life, but she, just like Breva, was lonely. So Breva started creating more of her children, each a different color and look."

She tickled my face and I smiled. "As Breva created more, she realized that she was the only person who could ah.. make more without her magic." She looked at me with a smile that was glowing from the sun. "So she decided that she needed Hymus, the god of knowledge, to help her. After talking with him, she created the first man. Of course, she was upset when the men started wars and fought each other."

"After a while, the 'humans' started to reproduce." I interrupt her by making a face. She laughed. "And soon Etris, the goddess of childhood, was born. She now watches over everyone to make sure they have a good childhood." She finishes.

I stand up again. "Cant we meet Etris? She sounds fun!" I say.

Rei smiles. "Maybe some day, Shoto. But she's very busy." She says. Her voice fades away and a soft brightness fills my vision.

I sit up quickly, covered in sweat. "Oh Etris, why does this keep happening?" I whisper, sliding my hand down my face.

I glance at the clock and see it was 5:07am. Great, super earlier.

Standing up, I pull on my nightgown and leave my room quietly. Two guards on either side of my bedroom glance at me before sighing and looking away. Thankfully they weren't my personal guards, since they would ask me questions.

I walk down the hall to where a balcony entrance was. I breath in the cold night air gratefully. The starry sky always calms me down after dreams or nightmares.

A small bird was perching on the tree that was growing right next to the balcony.

I glance at it and watch it hop on its branches.

Sighing, I was about to turn around when suddenly a cloth is slammed into my mouth. It covers my nose and mouth. I start screaming and yelling, but the thick cloth just makes them muffled sounds.

The person behind me presses the cloth harder on my face. I flay my arms around but the attacker doesn't budge.

Due to the lack of oxygen, large dark spots invade my sight. My muffled yelling stops and I stop flaying. I blink tiredly and my vision fades.

I collapse into the kidnappers arms.
