Prologue

Reese Dakota Howard was a good friend of mines. We would always pull pranks on people in middle school and just do dumb stuff and have fun. She was one of the funniest people in this fucked up town. We don't hang out as much as we used to, but we still will always have love for each other.

She's a really awesome person. A very sweet person, funny, down to earth, genuine, enthusiastic, adventurous, loyal and very attractive. No, I'm not attracted to her personally, but she is a really attractive person.

Reese has two sisters. A twin, Cassie Howard, who was a cheerleader and one of the golden girls at East Highland High school. Reese and Cassie couldn't be more different from each other. Cassie liked mini shirts, tight shirts, hooped earrings, wearing her hair down in a middle part most of the time. Cassie was on the cheerleading team and loved to wear eyeliner and makeup in general.

Reese on the other hand hated all the stuff I just mentioned. Well, expect for the hair part. She was okay with a middle part. She preferred having her hair in a bun. Reese preferred pants, sweatpants, baggy shirts, t shirts. She hated really long earrings, liked small earrings. Reese hated makeup, cheerleading and those sorts of stuff. She preferred sports. The two were totally different but still loved the other just the way they were.

Lexi Howard was her other sister.

A year younger than the twins. She was really into theater and arts. She's also been my best friend since preschool.

The Howard family lived in a two story, four bedroom, four bathroom suburb house. It was the perfect size for them. Not to big but not small at all. Let's get into the Reese parents and background shall we?

Reese's dad was extremely handsome. The kind of handsome that made people treat him differently. Her mom used to get really upset at him for flirting. And it wasn't fair since it wasn't his fault. He really loved her. He loved them all.

One day on Reese and Cassie's 11th birthday, their parents were arguing because one of Reese friends mom was flirting with their dad. Their mom was extremely upset about that. Cassie and Lexi watched from a table while they sat in front of their cake with their friends. It saddened them to see their parents fight. Meanwhile, Reese had already cut the cake and took a slice and was stuffing her face with cake.

Reese's dad always wanted her to become a soccer player. And for a while she thought she would. She was a natural talent. The way the ball bounced off her knee, head or leg was so effortlessly.

But her dad couldn't afford the lessons so he stopped encouraging her. So, Reese stopped playing soccer.

She didn't seem to care to stop soccer. She knew she was amazing at it, but she didn't seem like she enjoyed it. She just knew she could get rich off it which is why she continued it.

Her family wasn't perfect to say the least. Her mom had, you know, some issues. And her dad struggled to keep a steady income. And they fought, in a way all parents kinda fight. Except for the night before she and Cassie started 9th grade. Lexi 8th grade. Lexi, Cassie and Reese all went into Cassie's room and comforted each other from their parents fighting.

Her mom told her and her sisters that her dad was just being irrational. But Reese had heard differently.

While she was grabbing some books out her locker, a random girl came up to Reese and told Reese that her mom told her that Reese mom cheated on her dad which is why she left.

At first, Reese was really angry at her mom and she resented her for being a hypocrite. Then she came to realize that her dad wasn't perfect and neither was her mom. She came to the conclusion that they just weren't meant for each other.

Her dad moved out of the house one night, shocking them all. He would still come and visit them on the weekends, then it became once every couple of weeks. Then more than a month would pass since they last saw him.

One night, after not seeing him for a couple months, their dad was driving home from work, and he got into a bad car accident and he was in the ICU for 23 days. Her, her mom and her sisters rushed to his side, and took care of him while he was there.

Almost a year after his accident, their dad texted Rhys to come open the garage. She did so, confused, but she still did it. When she opened the garage door, she saw her dad. She wanted to run into his arms and hug him but was just frozen there.

"Hey kiddo, just came to get a few stuff." Her dad said with a small smile and he ruffled her hair and went to grab some supplies. He picked up his CD box, and comic book box.

"Please, don't tell your mother and sisters about me coming. I'll catch you later kiddo." He asked her and he walked up to her, gave her a kiss on her forehead, then turned around and left the garage.

"Should've left you in the hospital." Reese muttered under her breath and she let out a sigh as she felt a tear leave her eye. More tears left her eyes as she locked the garage door and went back inside.

To say Reese was mad was an understatement. Her dad came back out of nowhere and barely said anything to her. That's beyond messed up.
