Mine, maybe?

Author's POV

Assuming that everyone had gone home, Yeji went straight to the café near her college as she dragged a while some big box in her arms. It was filled with 90s song CD that had been thrown away by her parents since they didn't want to keep it anymore and just let Yeji used them.

Yeji planned to have Hyunjin and Ni-ki helping her to donate those CDs to the music cafe near their house. It was a cafe where they would play any song you recommend them to. Fun isn't it? If only Yeonjun was still hers, he would love to have a study date with her at the particular cafe.

But fate had to separate them and that's a pity. They could've been the most romantic couple in their campus of only no one was getting in between.

The Hwang siblings went to greet the cashier man who worked part time there; Hoshi, who used to be their neighbor in the past. They were good friends until he had to go to Busan for some emergency. Then, he came back after few months to complete his study here with them.

"Hoshi-hyunggg!!! Wha dup, man!?!?", Ni-ki tried to greet him in a cool way but ended getting teased by Hoshi for his cocky attitude.

"Eyyy, my favourite dongsaeng!!!! I'm fine... Just some work had to be done by the end of the day" Hoshi showed him a straight-line smile while cocking his eyebrows up.

"Hahaha, I'm glad I'm still young. Being old must be hard, and so on", Ni-ki teased earning a snort from Hyunjin who had a difficulty to hide his laugh with Yeji who sheepishly giggled at Ni-ki. She found Ni-ki extremely adorable with his black hair parted in the middle and those piercings on his eyebrows. Oh, how gorgeous but baby-like he was.

O' Lord, please never let Ni-ki lose himself the way I do. He deserves so much...

"Anyways, I heard you guys were having a prom party two days from now. Wanna talk it out while having dinner together?", Hoshi offered as he took his apron off to guide the Hwangs to their seats.

They all had ordered their meals before going to their seat and were waiting for the meantime. They discussed about things like the prom party, how they were doing and etc. Yeji frankly speaking that it sort of sent her a nostalgia feelings where she was having a family gathering with her loved one.

They were all so dear to the girl, they were her source of life and happiness. They brought light into her dull live, it made her felt so lively and energetic with no specific description, it was just comforting and lovely.

"It's not like they would dare to pair me up with Ye Seo, I hate her. She's way out of my league", Ni-ki hissed when he talked about his classmate who was also his seatmate who he dislike alot. He found her annoying since his classmates shipped them both together.

Ye Seo on the other hand didn't mind because she indeed had a feeling for him. That just made her being included in Ni-ki's must-avoid list.

"C'mon, buddy! Why not give it a try? Beside, you can use Ye Seo to avoid Rina. She had been bothering you and Jungwon for so long. Since Jungwon is taken, you should too so that stupid Jung Rina would be out of your life forever"

"HYUNG! Why did you teach Ni-ki something that cruel?! There's no way I'll let Ni-ki do something like that! Beside, Ni-ki know how to handle her anyway" Hyunjin sipped his drink while tapping his thumbs on his phone screen.

Hoshi nodded as a sign of satisfaction. Hearing Ni-ki knew how to handle that bratty girl made him somehow felt good. Well, he taught the boy how to, so it was like an achievement for him that Ni-ki did it well.

Time had pass quickly with them finishing up their meals while continue conversing. Through out the whole dinner, they were too occupied by each other's presence that they didn't see a figure who smirked at them. Devilish thoughts had engulfed that person while admiring their bounds with each other.

'Happiness. Does that even suit you, Hwang Yeji?'

That day was the day where their prom partner would be announced. All the students had sit on their seats while waiting passionately for their homeroom teacher who had yet to come.

Some of the students may found it exciting since they had visualized themselves dancing with the guy who they thought would be their prince charming; having the guy bowed to them while asking their hand to dance. Meanwhile, there was a girl at the back who was scared to death just by thinking about whom she would dance with.

The now black haired girl anxiously bit her fingers, internally praying that she would be partner up with at least someone she knew. She felt her heart pounded loudly with nervousness clouding her feelings but masked it calmly.

A guy beside her had been observing her behavior. He could tell that Yeji felt uneasy with the teachers selection. Their pick were much worst than his maths grade. He knew that the teachers would pair up someone like Yeji with someone who she might grew despite to.

Gloomy moods engulfed the girl as she rest her head on her arms, folded on top of the table. She huffed while looking out the window beside her, lowkey admiring the scenery in front of her. But her moment were disturbed when she felt someone tapped her shoulder.

"Yeji, Mrs. Lee is here", Hueningkai said while throwing a warm smile to her.

Yeji reciprocated his smile and turned her gaze to the front, eyeing Mrs. Lee who was already standing in front of the class, greeting the students.

"Alright, like how I promised few days ago, I'll announce your partner for the prom party. I wish you to not complain about whoever is your partner and I wish you not to request an exchange"

That gave Yeji shiver down her spine, it gave her a bad feelings about who her prom date is. Usually, people would choose their own dates but their case was a bit..... unique. The teachers purposefully prohibited them from choosing their own dates because of some reason — they never tell anyone.

Now, here comes the drama.

"Choi Soobin..... and Lee Hwayoung"

'Damn, better luck next time Binnie', Yeji said to herself.

"Han Jisung....... and Ahn Yujin"

'Ooooh~ the infamous popular students together'

"Yang Yang..... and Min Ra Hyun"

"Choi Yeonjun...... and Kim Hana"

Yeji felt her heart sank at the couple's name. Although she thought her feelings had almost fading, it seemed like it was still there. The way her heart still ached at the thought of those two cleared Yeji's mixed feelings — she may had forgotten about them, but her heart could never.

She still was in love with him. Their memories still fresh in her mind. Madly in love was a weakness she wanted to avoid, yet she still fell.

"Kang Taehyun...... and Hwang Yeji"

Yeji sighed in relief. At least she got paired with someone who somehow was willing to take care of her and loved her although she could not return his feelings. She just appreciated his feelings since he was the first admire that was extremely loyal to her and willing to try fixing her broken heart.

But it still didn't make her less worthless. As if she was using Taehyun as a rebound and she could not do that to Taehyun, especially when she thought he was so pure and innocent.

On the other hand, Taehyun smiled in victory. He felt joyous. He got paired to his love and he took this as a chance to win her heart, made her heart belongs to him.

Ms. Lee had finish pairing her students together and proceed to walk out of the class, letting the students took their break early since she herself had meetings to attend.

Taehyun stood up and walked to Yeji just for him to stumble on someone's leg, resulting him to lose his balance. He fell on his butt and groaned in pain.

"OH GOD, TAEHYUN!!! I'm so sorry bud.. You okay?", the guy apologized and offered the poor boy a hand. Taehyun smiled at him and accepted his hand. While being pulled up, he heard Yeji screamed his name from her seat.

"Taehyun-ah, are you hurt somewhere? Did you injured yourself?" Yeji's doe eyes stared deep in his eyes.

"I'm fine, my queen. No worries"
