"What...?"

"I love you, god dammit." Keigo whispered.

Emiri stood there in awe and disbelief. She thought he was joking at first, maybe being sarcastic, but the look on Keigo's face said it all.

He meant it.

He really meant it.

She took a step towards Keigo to which he flinched at, he didn't know how to go about this. Was she angry? Sad? Was she going to reject him?

He didn't know, but he was scared. He had never let anyone get as close as she had gotten with him.

He never showed anyone any affection in fear of losing them or getting hurt himself. He had already been through enough pain. Yes, it was selfish, but it was his own way of protecting himself.

He also never intended on telling her how he felt, not until she was mentally better at least. He didn't feel right confessing to her when she was on the brink of shutting her emotions off. It didn't feel fair.

She had lost everything. Who was he to suddenly come and overwhelm her with more emotions?

"You know what... forget I said anything..." he mumbled while wiping his tears.

Emiri still hadn't said anything. She was scared, too. Did he actually mean it? Should she confess too? What if he wasn't being serious?

There was still the constant fear of her ex. The constant fear of being hurt again. But somehow, she knew Keigo would never hurt her the way her ex did.

That didn't stop her from still being scared though.

Keigo had turned to walk towards his bedroom, he didn't want to have this conversation anymore. He wanted to take it back, but it was too late.

"Everything's in the guest bedroom for you. Goodnight." he then shut his bedroom door and the living room filled with silence.

He didn't want to face her right now. He was too vulnerable.

And in reality, so was Emiri. She wanted to confess, but she couldn't muster the courage to. She was still broken after all.

They both were, and maybe that's what made them so perfect for each other. Both had traumatic pasts, and they were both hurt.

Being with each other over the past few months had somehow healed the both of them. Though, it took one of their lives being torn apart for them to realize it.

It had already hit Keigo, maybe a little too early for him to process it, but it was just now hitting Emiri.

She loved him too.

She wanted to be with him.

Why was she just now realizing it?

That didn't matter anymore, what mattered was telling him now.

She walked towards his bedroom door and raised her hand to knock, but before she could, she felt a pair of hands cover her mouth and nose with a cloth.

When she woke up, she was in a cold room with a blindfold on and a gag in her mouth.

"Finally awake... what was it he called you? Angel?"
