"Come on! Just come with me to this wedding!" May pleaded. "No," I responded. "Please Em! My other friends are busy and you need to get out more! The way I see it, it's a win-win."

I could already see where I'd end up. Stranded in the middle of the party, with no one to talk to. "I already told you no. Every time I come with you to a club or party, you always ditch me for some stud you meet," I said.

"What?! That's not true!" she said sarcastically. I looked at her with doubtful eyes. She sighed, "Me leaving you isn't ALL bad. Who knows, maybe you could meet the man or woman of your dreams there!"

She wasn't going to stop asking until I said yes, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go with her. Half of the time it's just some big trick to get me a boyfriend.

She also thinks I'm bisexual, so she keeps pushing the idea of a girlfriend. I can see why she'd think that, but honestly, even if I were, I'm not looking for anyone right now. "The answer is still no." She sighed deeply and said, "Emiri Maki, you're coming with me to this wedding wether you like it or not."

I hate it when she uses my full name. That just means she's being serious.

"How does one get a squirrel out of their apartment?" I said to May on the phone.
"A squirrel? How did a squirrel get into your apartment? Did you leave the balcony open again? Wait- Don't you live on like the 40 something floor? How did a squirrel get all the way up there?" May was the chatty type, and very curious. Which in my opinion, don't mix well, but she was fun to be around because of it. "Questions aren't helping right now May," I said. "Right, right. Sorry, where is the squirrel right now?" she asked. "On my balcony."
Don't get me wrong, I love animals. However, unwanted animals in your apartment at 6pm, aren't exactly the best kind. "Then just close the balcony door!" May said. "I can't."
"What do you mean you can't? Just close the door," May said, obviously confused. "I mean he's right in front of the balcony door. If I close it, it'll hit him," I explained. "Then just shoo him off with a broom or something!"
"But I don't want to hurt him," I whined.
"You're so soft when it comes to animals," she said with a sigh, "then just walk towards it, maybe it'll get scared and run towards the balcony."
I did what she said and surprisingly, the squirrel ran back to the railing... and then he fell off the edge.

     I don't know what it is, but every time I see a person or animal in trouble, I want to help them. So without thinking, I jumped off the balcony. I live in a pretty big apartment complex, meaning it's very tall. And I happen to live on the 44th floor. I could see the squirrel squirming in the air while falling. "If this squirrel dies, I'll never forgive myself," I thought. I dove down and tried to scoop it into my arms but I couldn't seem to get a hold of it, and we were getting close the ground. I eventually managed to scoop the squirrel into my arms. I opened my wings and landed on the sidewalk, then I walked to a tree and let the squirrel climb on. I feel bad for traumatizing it, but at least it's safe.

     I looked up to see a small crowd of people murmuring to each other while staring at me.
"Did you see? She just saved a squirrel!" I heard someone say. I was going to walk away when suddenly I felt a small pair of arms wrap around my leg. I looked down to see a small girl looking up at me with a big smile. I recognized her smile. "You're the lady that saved me from the big fire at my house!" she shouted. "I never got to thank you," she said sounding a little sad. I also seem to have a soft spot for kids. "That's okay, there's no need to thank me." I said, squatting down to her level. I didn't realize my wings were still out until she pointed at them in amazement. "You look just like an angel!" she exclaimed. I smiled softly, "I get that a lot."
"Hana! I told you not to run off like that!" a woman said, pushing through the crowd of people. She stopped and stared at me and the little girl. It was like she was frozen. "You're that hero that saved my baby," she finally said, tears forming in her eyes. I stood up as she ran up to me and hugged me. She was hugging me so tight, I felt my back crack a little. She thanked me repeatedly while sobbing. I just stood there with a small smile on my face, letting her say as many thank you's as she wanted. The woman finally stopped crying after a good 4 minutes and started wiping her tears away. "There's really no need to thank me, saving people is what I do," I said. She just smiled at me and then picked up the little girl. "What's your name?" I asked the little girl. "Hana," she replied. "Well Hana, be safe for me and your mom alright," I said. "Okay!" she said with another big smile on her face.

     I started walking away when, "Wait! Miss!" Hana shouted. I turned around. She was running up to me, "What's your hero name?" she asked. My hero name? I never really thought about my hero name. I didn't care if people knew about me or not, just as long as I saved people. I knew people were calling me things like 'The Iron Guardian' or 'The Metal Angel' but I didn't exactly like them. I didn't think anyone would ask what my hero name was though. I couldn't think of anything, so I decided to use the name my high school friends gave me. "You can call me White Wing," I said. Her eyes lit up, "That's so cool! Thank you so much White Wing! You're my favorite hero!" she then hugged me and ran back to her mom. I was in shock. Her favorite hero..? I'm someone's favorite hero..? I'm not exactly sure why, but those words hit me hard. It's crazy to think someone likes you that much to call you their favorite. I just stood there and smiled for a second and then walked to the store. I put my wings away, but then realized I had a hole in the back of my shirt because my wings ripped through them. My hero costume has special material that closes up when my wings rip through it, so I'm not use to ripping through my regular clothes. I sighed and opened my wings again because showing my wings is better than having 2 big holes on the back of my shirt.

~~~~~
It was now 8pm and the city was already a noisy mess. I decided to go shopping because this is the 8th time I've ruined my clothes with my wings. Shopping isn't exactly fun to me, mainly because I always go with May and she makes me hold everything she buys. I was getting stares from everyone because of my wings, and I hated it. But I couldn't put them away. The mall was closing soon and I just wanted to get a couple more shirts and some food before going home. I was in line, waiting to pay for my food, when I heard multiple girls scream with excitement all at once.
"Hawks!"
"It's Hawks! Can I get a photo!"
"He's so hot!"
I looked to my side to see Hawks surrounded by a bunch of girls. That didn't stop him from noticing me though. I mean how could you not, my wings were out. He looked at me and raised his eyebrows. He seemed to remember me from that run-in we had 2 days ago. He lifted his hand and waved at me with a smile, but I ignored him and looked straight ahead again. Moments later I felt something tap my hand. I looked down to see a bright red feather continuously tapping me. I looked back to see if Hawks was still there but he had disappeared. I looked around, the feather still tapping my hand, but I couldn't seem to spot him. I got annoyed and grabbed the feather and shoved it in my pocket. It then zoomed out and went away. I thought it was gone for good, but it came zooming back with money. I guess I did say he owed me food, huh? I hesitated, but I took it and payed for my food and headed out of the mall, ready to go home. The street was crowded and everyone was staring at me. I didn't want to go through that mess, so I flew up instead.
I decided to fly to the same bridge I sat on last time to eat my sushi. Half way through my food, I realized I didn't have my phone on me. I remembered leaving it on the couch while I was on the phone with May trying to get the squirrel out of my apartment. Come to think of it, I wouldn't even be out of my home if that squirrel hadn't shown up. I scoffed thinking about it. Out of no where another red feather zoomed towards me. It began tapping me again and then it started to drift towards my sushi. That's when I snatched it. No one touches my food. Not even a feather. Then, just as I predicted, Hawks landed on the beam opposite of me. "Well that was aggressive," he said. "Yeah, well I don't let people touch my food. Besides, I don't know where your feather has been," I replied. "Fair enough." There was a long silence so I continued eating my sushi. He just scoffed and stared. "What?" I asked. "Nothing, you sure love your food though," he said. "Mhm," I hummed. I then remembered he payed for my food. I looked up to see him still staring at me. "Thanks for paying," I said. He just smiled, "I owed you, for ruining your meal last time," he reminded me. I smirked and nodded. This time he was staring at my sushi with hungry eyes. I sighed, picked up the container, and held it out to him. He seemed surprised, "What? No, it's yours," he said. "Yeah but I'm full now, and you seem hungry," I answered, "plus, you paid, so technically it's yours too." He stared at me for a minute, then took it from my hand and immediately started eating. I chuckled and turned to look at the city. "What's your quirk?" he asked out of no where. I turned to him, "Metal wings," I said. "Hm, interesting," he said, "What's your name?" I looked at him and thought about it. "My hero name or my real name?" I asked, turning back to face the city. "Both," he said with his mouth full. "My hero name is White Wing," I said. There was a long silence again. "And your real name..?" he asked, confused as to why I didn't answer the first time. "Why is that important?" I asked, "It's not like we'll meet again." I looked back at him to see a slightly hurt expression on his face, "You don't like me or what?" he asked. I laughed a little, "No it's not that. You're a pro hero, which means you're almost always busy. Which means you won't have time to meet and talk." He sighed, "That's true, but it's not like I'm always busy," he said. I could tell this was his way of asking to meet again. I looked at him. "Well I'll usually be on top of a skyscraper or bridge at night if you ever do have free time."
"Which ones?" he asked. "Probably this bridge, I like the view from up here," I replied, looking at the city. "What about your real name?" he asked, finishing the sushi. "You ask a lot of questions," I said, avoiding the question again. "Fine, don't tell me. I'll just call you Angel for now." I glared at him and he smirked. "Well, until next time Angel," he said standing up, "I gotta go." And with that, he flew away, taking the sushi container with him. [we love a king who doesn't litter] I took in what had just happened. Did he follow me? Oh well. I grabbed my bag of clothes and headed home for the night.
