THIRTEEN

As the train arrived at Hogwarts, Pansy and I grabbed our luggage and headed to our dorm hoping not to get caught for skipping the sorting ceremony. Although on our way we were caught off guard by a short lady covered in pink clothing with an incredibly high pitched voice.

"Where do you think you two are going?" Asked the strange lady.

Pansy and I looked at each other for a minute before she spoke up in full confidence. "Sorry ma'am we got lost."

I gave Pansy the most dramatic look knowing that was the worst excuse she could have come up with before the lady started scolding us. "Do not lie to me. This will be your one and only warning. Now get to the Great Hall."

As Pansy and I turned around with our luggage I started mimicking her, "We-e-e got lost," I laughed. "What kind of excuse was that? We are fifth years Pansy no way would she have fallen for that."

As we made our way into the Great Hall we set our luggage near the wall and headed to the Slytherin table. Before I sat down I looked up and down the table cautiously trying to find Draco. As I figured he wasn't there, I sat down with a saddened expression on my face and watched the dreadful sorting hat ceremony take place.

After the ceremony, I got up to go to mine and Pansy's dorm before she asked where I was going. "Daniella, where are you going? Dinner just started."

"I'm not hungry, and besides I need to re-organize a few things in my dorm so it will be ready for you to move in."

As Pansy nodded her head in agreement, I went to our dorm and moved my bed to the corner of my walls. I strung the canvas Draco had painted over my headboard and left the rest of the room for Pansy to move into. I decided she could have as much floor space as she wanted if I could have as much wall space as I wanted.

It quickly fell nighttime before Pansy got back to our dorm. I was sitting in my bed reading a book with the background noise of the rainstorm from outside. After almost an hour of trying to fall asleep, I went to the same window I was sitting at with Draco last year and sat down in sadness and nostalgia as I watched the rainstorm. It felt as if somewhere, wherever Draco was, he was watching the storm too. Of course though, I knew I was only kidding myself.

I watched the storm until it faded into stars and made my way to the common room. I sat in the padded rocking chair until I slipped into a deep, calm but sad sleep. The next morning I woke up to the sound of confused first years on the other side of the brick walls trying to find their classes. As I was getting my robes on, I noticed a piece of parchment lying on my bed. I was overcome by joy thinking Draco had finally written me back before I opened it. I opened the parchment to another note from 'A'. 'Draco is happier without you. Who would actually want you anyways? You're nobody.'

I ignored the note and crumpled it into my pocket before heading to potions. I sat down in the back corner away from everyone not wanting to be there because the only reason I had liked Potions was from Draco being there. And just as I described it to Draco, I began shutting everyone out, I told myself no one cared and nothing was going to be the same. I spent the rest of the class zoning out thinking about what horrible things could have possibly happened to Draco.

At the end of class I felt a sudden urge to pay attention. As Snape spoke I noticed a familiar face staring at me. The strange girl from the party and from Diagon Alley was once again watching me. That was until Snape called her name, "Astoria please come write out the steps to the Amortentia potion."
