Peaky Blinders [Finn Shelby]

summary: to seal his new deal, Tommy offers Finn to marry his business partner's daughter knowing he has a girlfriend

"To hell you are!" Finn swore. When Tommy found how he wasn't the only one with problems with Luca Changretta, he reached out hoping to find an ally. He did luckily, but everything came with a price.

William Webber had a 'family business' in Dudley and graciously accepted Tommy's offer but he needed something in return. He had a daughter the same age as Finn and she needed someone to marry. Tommy needed the Webber family on the side so he gave them Finn in a matter of seconds.

"I'm not some betting horse!" Finn continued. The deal had finalized late last night and Tommy called a family meeting to inform the rest of the family. "And I have a girlfriend, did you forget about Y/n?"

He didn't forget, he knew the girl. Y/n had been a local, her father working in her factories, her mother a tailor, making quite some money from her clients. Finn and Y/n went to school together before Finn stopped going. The two had been together for 3 years and recently moved in together 5 months ago when Y/n turned 18.

"It doesn't matter, William's daughter Rebecca is due to marry you at the end of next week." Tommy simply explained.

"You're going to let him do this?" Finn looked at Arthur and Polly. Neither of them said anything, looking down at the floor guilty. "My god, I'm not like John. You can't just go selling me off for some business deal."

"What John did helped our family and that is the same for you. You need to forget about that girl and focus on your family." Tommy gestured to all of them. It had only been a few months since John died and it still hadn't settled with the Shelby's all well and it was hard enough to think of him let alone say his name.

"You used him when he was vulnerable, Martha died and you saw that is an opportunity and now you want to do the same thing now. I'm sad and you think marrying me off will make me all happy again!" Finn exclaimed.

"You need to breakup with her by the end of next week." Tommy stated simply. Finn stared at his family, none of them said a single thing to defend him. He grabbed his peaky cap before slamming the door making his way back to his and Y/n's home.

"Finn is that you?" Y/n heard the door open. She stood in the kitchen working on the dinner for the two.

"Hey love." He walked into the kitchen, kiss her cheek from behind. "Smells good."

"Thank you." She smiled turning around to face him. She studied his face. She knew him since they were children, Y/n could tell when something was wrong.

"What's wrong?" Y/n grabbed his hand and led him to their bedroom. She sat him on the edge of the bed, squeezing herself in between his legs, massaging his shoulders. Finn felt comfort in her, he wrapped his arms around her stomach, leaning his head on her chest.

"Tommy." He said. Y/n knew how hard it was Finn for the past couple months, since John died, his brothers tried to make Finn fill in his spot and it was all too much for him, he wasn't John, he was Finn. "He wanted a new business partner and well there's this family in Dudley who was willing to comply."

"But?" Y/n asked, she knew it was coming, it always does.

"But the only way he'll work with us is if I marry his daughter, but Tommy already said I would. The wedding is the end of next week." Finn finished.

"So you came here to breakup?" Y/n stated trying not to cry.

"What no!" Finn pulled himself away to look at her. "We're not going to breakup, I'm not marrying her."

"Finn I can't let you put that strain on your family because of me." Y/n said. She loved Finn with all her heart but she couldn't be the reason why the Shelby's fell apart.

"If they actually cared, they would stopped it, you're my family." Finn confessed interlocking their hands, his thumb running over her knuckles.

"Finn we can't stay together, you know that." Y/n stated sadly. She gave him a small smile, playing with the small piece of hair that fell in front of his forehead.

"Then we go somewhere." Finn perked up. "You got into Columbia yes? We can go to America and while we go to school, I can work and find us a place to live. It's everything you ever wanted?"

"I can't ask you to leave Small Heath and go to America with me?" Y/n replied. She did get accepted into Columbia but Y/n would have declined so she could stay with Finn.

"I want to, I want to be with you wherever that is." Finn kissed the back of her hand. "So what do you say?"

"You are crazy, you know that Finn Shelby?" Y/n smiled.

"Is that you saying yes?" Finn asked hopefully.

"It's means yes you idiot." Y/n smiled wrapping her arms around him, peppering kisses all along his face.

That next morning, Y/n sent her letter of confirmation to Columbia, hopefully letting it arrive by next week. The two spoke with Y/n's parents about what they were about to do. They both supported it, they loved Finn like he was their own son.

"For when the time is right." Y/n's mother handed Finn a small box when Y/n was in the other room with her father.

The two packs their bags when they arrived home, leaving on the night train to London and taking a ship from there to New York. Y/n asked him constantly if he wanted to tell his family where they were going. He said no every time, he was an adult, he didn't need to tell them everything. Y/n was able to get Finn to talk to Isiah. She had met him a handful of times. Isiah promised he wouldn't tell a soul about the couple leaving for New York.

"This is it." Y/n stood outside the train station with Finn. "This is your last chance to stay."

"Without you, no way." He smiled grabbing her hand before pulling her into the station. By morning, Y/n and Finn were boarding the ship making their way to the next part of their lives.

The Shelby family thought it was best they gave Finn some time to tell Y/n about the news. Ada had been making her way towards their house for her and Y/n's weekly tea. Once she walked up to the door, she knocked. After a few minutes, she knocked again.

'Must be in the bathroom.' Ada thought.

Ada stood outside the house for almost 10 minutes before she tried to open the door. It had been unlocked, Ada furrowed his brows. She knew that Y/n always made sure her door was locked.

"Y/n!" Ada called out making her way through the house. There wasn't much furniture, just a small couch and coffee table, the dining table with two chairs, four sets of forks, spoons, knifes, cups, plates and spoons.

She continued through the house making her way up towards the bedroom and bathroom. The bed was made, both of their nightstands were empty though. Ada quickly went to go check the closet, it was empty, none of Finn's suits or Y/n's dresses were there. The dressers empty, all their clothes were gone. She looked back at the dresser to see the white envelope on the table.

"They're gone!" She stormed into the Garrison. It was empty that earl morning. Tommy, Arthur, Polly, Michael and Isiah sat in a booth in the corner looking at Ada like she was crazy.

"Whose gone?" Polly furrowed her brows.

"Finn and Y/n." She slammed the note on the table. Tommy was the first to grab the letter, reading it out for all of them.

'Ada,

I knew you would be the first to come by. By the time you read Finn and I will be out of Small Heath and maybe out of the country. Finn came to me last week telling me the news. I told him that it was best if he followed through but he refused. He knew that if he stayed in Small Heath he would have to get married so it was his idea that we left.

We don't know when we will return, but I will miss you deeply Ada.

-Y/n and Finn'

"If you couldn't haven't so self absorbed, you could have found a different way to have the Webber's with us, now you lost two brothers." Ada looked at Tommy.

"Do you know where they went?" Tommy asked Isiah, disregarding what Ada had just said to him.

"No idea." He lied straight through his teeth.
