summary: imagine being Loki's wife and going into labor while he was locked away

***

Everyone knew Loki loved Y/n since they were children. He remembered the first day she had came to the castle, her father had been a warrior who had fought aside Odin, the two men being each other companions. Loki met her in the gardens, she was alone, growing flowers and weaving them into crowns. Intrigued Loki had slowly made his way towards her not wanting to scare her away.

It had been smooth sailing from then. He loved her with his entire being, the two were soulmates, but had been forced apart.

There were a whirlwind of emotions happening. Frost Giants had gotten into the castle, the day of Thor's coronation. Loki had traveled to Jotunheim with Thor, Lady Sif and the Warriors Three. Now Asgard was back upon war, Thor was banished from Asgard. Y/n had grew up with the both of them, he was a protector to her, making sure harm would get in her way.

Y/n watched from the distant as her lover find out he wasn't who he really was. Over the thousand years of knowing him, he became distant in these sorts of situations, when he felt betrayed, alone, he would come to her whenever he was ready. She waited patiently, not once bugging him, just letting him cope. He was still the same Loki she fell in love with over the years.

As Loki's first decision as acting King of Asgard, was for him and Y/n to be married. It gave a slight scene of hope in the midst of dark that was about to overcome Asgard. It had been a private ceremony in the castle gardens with Frigga and Y/n's parents, they didn't need anyone else. They were married in the place they met first.

Y/n had remembered when Thor came to her telling her about Loki. Y/n had froze, her husband was dead. While his actions in the end hadn't been good, that was still her husband, lover, soulmate. She didn't remember much for the next few months. Thor had left for Midgard, leaving her and Frigga.

Frigga, bless her heart, did everything she could to help mend her broken heart. It was no use, her other half was gone.

She didn't know how long the dreams or nightmares, whatever she called them had started. It had felt so real to her. He was alive, alive and well. Sometimes she felt as if he was right next to her in their bed.

"You look more beautiful everyday." She heard someone say as she flutter her eyes, awaking from slumber. Leaning up slightly, she caught sight of a green cape. There weren't many people who wore that.

"Loki." She murmured.

"I'm here, my love." He made his way towards her.

The rest of their day had been rekindling their lost time together in more ways than one. For the first time in who knows how long, Y/n had finally gotten a good nights sleep. But it was like the happy things in Y/n's life had been taken away. The next morning she woken to a cold bed. She ignored the scolds from the maids as she ran through the castle in her night robe, but it didn't matter, Loki wasn't in bed.

She had been blocked by the guards as she saw Loki locked up in shackles making this way towards Odin. She didn't hear must of it but the words 'life-sentence' and 'prison' rang through her head. She pleaded Odin watching them send him away. Frigga held her as Y/n fell to the ground crying.

To make matters worse, a month later, she found out she was pregnant, that glorious night with Loki before everything was ripped away.

Y/n had been in a safe house in Midgard for her own safety, Asgard wasn't safe enough for her. At 36 weeks pregnant, she had returned to Asgard to the funeral of her late mother-in-law. From all the stress of the baby, Loki, the dangers of Asgard, it had caused for her water to break.

"Y/n you need to take deep breaths and push." Sif wiped the sweat off her forehead. 4 hours in, she was finally ready to push.

"I-I can't, I need him here." She pleaded. "I'm doing this without him."

"Y/n the baby can't handle that, you may lose it if you don't push." Sif explained.

"No!" Y/n screamed. "I'm not doing this without him."

Sif looked at her for the moment, the past 9 months had been brutal for her, she couldn't be in her home, she wasn't with her husband and her mother-in-law was dead. Sif had left the delivery room, leaving Y/n in care with the midwifes, making her ways towards Thor.

"Thor!" Sif called out.

"Is she alright, is the baby born?" Thor asked frantically. He had been siding out the room waiting for any update.

"She won't push, she won't do it without Loki. Thor if she doesn't deliver this baby, she and the babe could die. I know I shouldn't be asking this but-" Sif said.

"I'll get him." Thor answered her making his way down to the prison.

"After all this time, you come to visit." Loki smirked.

"Must you with your illusions." Thor saw through the facade. In a second, Thor saw the real Loki. His hair was tangled, his furniture broken.

"Come to gloat." Loki muttered.

"It's Lady Y/n." Thor said simply.

"Is that alright!" Loki got up on his feet instantly making his way to Thor. "Tell me, is she okay."

"She is pregnant." Thor replied.

"What?" He asked. He thought. He had been here for 10 months. The night before his imprisonment.

"Lady Y/n is in labor, and will not continue, unless you are there. She and the child could die if she doesn't continue." Thor explained.

"So you came to tell me my wife and child are going to die." Loki spat.

"I came to get you." Thor corrected lifting the barrier. "Despite the terrible things you have done, this something I don't want to have on my conscience."

"Sif, Sif!" Y/n said through her screams. "Where is he? I can't do this without him."

"I'm right here my love." Loki came running into the delivery room taking Sif's place. He grabbed her hand peppering her skin with kisses.

"Loki." Y/n said in a whisper.

"That's right." He caressed her head. "I need you to push darling, can you do that for me?"

"Yeah." She answered.

Through his sweet praises and the orders of the midwife and another 2 hours of contractions and pushing, her daughter was here.

"Oh you're so beautiful." Y/n whispered caressing her cheek. "You look so much like your father."

"Hello my little darling." Loki cooed sitting on the bed next to Y/n.

"Oh, she's beautiful." Sif smiled from the doorway, Thor standing next to her.

"Sif, Thor come meet your godchild." Y/n beackoned. "Freya, these are your godparents."

"What a wonderful name." Thor smiled.

"Thor?" Y/n looked up to him. "Will Loki get to stay?"

"Yes of course Lady Y/n." He answered with no hesitation.

"Thank you brother." Loki gave him a genuine smile.

"We did it." Y/n whispered to Loki as they watched Freya slowly fall asleep.

"Not we, you." Loki kissed the top of her head.
