Chapter 44

Deckard marched right over to her and kissed her, holding her even more gently than he did before, but his kiss was hard, urgent.

"Yeah, it would be a bad time, because Brixton knew before I did. How did Brixton know before I did?" Deckard asked, not angrily, just curious, and worried, more so worried.

"Hattie also knew before you did, and Jonah and Mrs Hobbs," Katrina admitted and Deckard glared at his sister who only raised her hands in surrender.

"How?" Deckard asked again.

"When Brixton had me at Eteon, they did a bunch of x-rays on my spine and my back. One of the doctors said they couldn't transform me because of something they'd found. I didn't know what it was, but Hattie saw it. And then I guess I didn't kill both of the doctors, I only knocked one out and she must've told Brixton after we escaped. And Jonah had to know because he and his cousins fixed up my car, so it was as safe as possible for me and the baby."

"Don't even ask how Hobbs' mother knows because even we don't know," Hattie added and Deckard looked from her still flat stomach to her eyes in disbelief, rain masking his happy tears.

"You're pregnant."

"I'm pregnant," she smiled.

"You're pregnant," he cheered as he swept her off her feet, holding her bridal style as he spun her around, Katrina clinging to his neck as she laughed.

"Congrats, you two," Hobbs said with a genuine smile, thinking about the time he found out he was going to be a father.

Katrina moved away from Deckard to hug Hobbs.

"Thank you for having his back and bringing him back to me," she said as Hobbs' giant hands were gentle on her back.

"You're welcome," he grinned as they pulled back.

"Kats, how'd you even get down here anyway? Please tell me you didn't crash with us and we didn't know," Deckard asked, semi-panicked, and she laughed.

"No. I watched you crash and then I repelled down here. But considering that I didn't know I was pregnant until yesterday, I'd say our child's a fighter considering everything I've done and he's still here."

"He?" Deckard questioned with a smirk.

"It feels natural. It feels like a boy," she shrugged.

"Well, in that case, he's a Shaw, of course, he's a fighter," Deckard grinned as he held his hand to Katrina's stomach.

"I've never seen you this happy," Hattie commented and her brother still couldn't kill his smile.

"You know who's going to be even happier?" Katrina asked with a smirk.

"Mum," the siblings said in sync.

"By the way Hats, we gotta break her out of prison once we get back home," Deckard said to his sister who furrowed her brows but agreed.

"Since we just saved the world, I'll pretend I didn't hear that," Hobbs interrupted.

"Much appreciated," Katrina said to Hobbs before he nodded at her and then they began the long walk back to Hobbs' house.

"Thanks for being my sidekick through this whole thing brother. You were great," Hobbs said to Deckard, who was holding Katrina's hand as the rain stopped.

"How 'bout I side-kick that stupid look off your face?" Deckard offered and Katrina sighed.

"Yeah? How 'bout you show me right now?" Hobbs challenged as the two moved closer together, Deckard letting go of Katrina's hand as he prepared to fight Hobbs, only for Hattie to wrap an arm each around the men.

"Ok guys. Let's go home," she diffused as she looked at each of them, both men chuckling before agreeing and Katrina said, "You know what? I think I'm just going to switch Shaw's and me and Hats can raise this baby, since she isn't pissing me off every five minutes by getting into a pissing contest."

"Yes!" Hattie cheered as she went to moved forward to link arms with Katrina, but Deckard held her back.

"Not happening. You either get Aunt or nothing at all," Deckard said darkly, leaving no room for question as he surged forward, wrapped an arm around Katrina and kept walking.

Their baby wasn't even born yet and Deckard was already ridiculously protective over him.

The teenage years were going to be fun.

******************************************************************

The sun was back again, drying the quartet up as they walked, Katrina on Deckard's back as she rested her head on his shoulder, eyes closed.

She'd asked to stop for a break so many times, tired and hungry from their battle, along with dizzy spells that seemed to attack her out of nowhere, that Deckard just ended up carrying her as she slept, or tried to.

Hobbs had offered as well to carry her, him clearly being the stronger of the two men, but Deckard wouldn't trust anyone, not even Hobbs with his pregnant wife and unborn child as he carried her without complaint, Hattie walking ahead.

"Look Batman had Robin. Dr Evil had Mini-me. You're my Mini-me," Hobbs said as they walked, still debating the whole who is whose sidekick.

"Han Solo had Chewbacca. Kermit had Miss Piggy," Deckard fired back.

"That's a low blow. Don't say that. Don't argue with me on my island. You're my sidekick."

"And you can be the first to die on your island if you both don't shut up. You boys are our sidekicks. End of story," Katrina scolded, eyes still closed.

"She's not wrong," Hattie piped up.

And the boys were silent after that.
