Chapter 28

Hobbs free-fell through the air, having let go of the repelling line and falling onto the back of the only soldier that wasn't carrying anyone as he ran down the side of the building.

His gun went off, shooting at the elevator that Hobbs' hadn't realised was moving, or that had Deckard in it.

Gripping the soldier around the neck, Hobbs bounded across the glass skyscraper, towards the elevator, smashing the soldiers face into it and effectively knocking him out as Hobbs cursed Deckard through the glass, Shaw cursing him right back as he made an accompanying gesture.

But as Hobbs was about to jump on the man that had Katrina, she woke up.

After quickly gauging her surroundings, Katrina grabbed the gun from her waistband, grateful her pants were tight enough to keep it from flying out, and she put two bullets into the space between the armour the man wore and his helmet, the man growing limp as they fell onto the glass structure below, the glass cracking but holding.

And then Hattie fell next to her, the man holding her standing as Katrina's eyes widened, recognising him.

But before a fight could ensue or Katrina could fire her gun, Hobbs crashed down on him, both of them falling through the glass and onto a car.

"Come on Hats! We gotta go!" Katrina urged her, both girls abandoning their heeled shoes in fear of the glass cracking as they ran across it, down to the streets where the boys, both Deckard and Hobbs, were fighting.

Katrina knew that this would bring up nothing but guilt for Deckard as she watched the two converse, him and Brixton, as she and Hattie reached street level. She'd never met him, seen him in nothing but photos, but Deckard had told her about what he'd been forced to do to him, to the man he'd considered a brother after he wouldn't join Eteon.

But before she could join his side, two more soldiers came for her and Hattie.

Hattie was ripped of her blouse, revealing the camisole she wore underneath as she defensively attacked the soldier, Katrina going for offence and putting her rage to use as she went for the pressure points, pain that could be felt even through the bulletproof suit the man wore, before she pushed the soldiers' helmeted head into the asphalt, cracking the glass mask and letting blood seep out.

A car suddenly exploding then made Hattie and Katrina wobble on their feet before they began running, Hobbs chasing after them before a car pulled up next to them.

"STOP!" Hobbs yelled before the door to the McLaren 720S opened to reveal Deckard at the wheel.

"Hattie, Kats, get inside," he ordered.

"We're all going," Hobbs protested.

"Not you," Deckard said as he pulled out a gun. "Just the girls. "

"I said, we're all going," Hobbs persisted as he pulled out his own gun.

"That's it!" Katrina yelled as she kicked out her leg, forcing the gun from Hobbs' grip as she caught it and then held out her hand to Deckard. "Give it to me."

He sighed as his wife wretched it out of his grip and stuffed them both into the glove box.

"Now everyone gets in the car. One more word from either one of you and Hattie and I are gone," she declared as she climbed in, moving to sit on Deckard's lap as Hattie got in next, all of them being forced towards the driver's side of the car as Hobbs got in and the door barely closed, Hattie half on Hobbs' lap as Deckard floored it.

But as soon as he did that, three motorcyclists were on their tail.

"What the hell did you do Hattie?" he asked as he drove, glancing from the side mirror to the road.

"Big brother lecture now really? I injected myself, I didn't have a choice. He was gonna take it," she answered as they were jerked from side to side from the sharp turned Deckard took to avoid the other vehicles on the road as best he could with his wife on his lap.

"Hey Hats, pass me a gun," Katrina asked casually as she shifted so she was straddling Deckard as she opened the window. Cocking Hobbs' gun, Katrina stuck her torso out of the window before firing the weapon, Deckard making a sharp turn to that the window faced the bike as Katrina fired, managing to hit a tire and send one crashing into a car.

But then came Brixton.

He shot at the tires, the car lurching as Deckard turned them around, Katrina shifting in her seat as she turned back to face the road and Hattie said, "Might be time for some curls."

Hobbs then smashed his arm out of the window, grabbing the other soldier by the neck as Deckard drove him into a wall.

"Very good," she praised as Deckard drove.

"You want to tell me what in the fresh turkey hell we're dealing with here?" Hobbs then asked.

"Long story," Deckard replied.

"So, tell it and I'll drive," she said as she knocked Deckard's hands from the wheel and inched forward to slam her barefoot onto the accelerator, everyone bracing themselves as the car lurched forward and Deckard's hands settled on Katrina's waist.

"He's a ghost, he's supposed to be dead," Deckard said as Katrina drove. "Eight years ago, I put a bullet through his brain. "

"Great, so we're being chased by the Terminator," Hobbs remarked.

"Said Hercules," Katrina retorted as she peeked in the side mirror and made a sharp right turn, tires leaving skid marks on the road.

"I don't think we're going to make it," Hattie said as two trucks blocked the road in front of them.

"It hurts that you doubt me Hats," Katrina said with a wicked grin as she manoeuvred the car under the trucks with ease before making a sharp left turn, Brixton still on their tail.

"Should've emptied the whole clip into his brain," Katrina muttered as she drove before Deckard took over again, an idea coming to him as he saw a double-decker bus driving down an intersecting road.

Deckard drove behind a truck, using it to shield them from Brixton who was shooting at their tires, one already flat as it left sparks on the road, before he got in front of their shield and reversed the car, using it as a ramp to send Brixton's bike and Brixton, crashing into the double-decker bus.

They disappeared after that.
