Chapter 21

After getting both the keys and opening the secure sector of the plane, Deckard called Toretto to tell him that they had his son, while Katrina strapped him up in a little car seat carrier.

"We're gonna make a couple of these soon," Katrina called over her shoulder to Deckard as the baby gurgled at her.

"Not too soon, I hope," Deckard said nervously as he approached them with headphones.

"Obviously not," she rolled her eyes as he sighed in relief and turned to the baby.

"Alright Guvnor, it's gonna get noisy. This is for your ears," he said as he gently placed the headphones over the baby's ears and put the music on a safe but loud volume. "Good?" he asked and received a gurgle in response as the baby held the headphones to his ear, Katrina smiling at his interaction with him.

"Ready for a game of hot potato darling?"

"Of course," she said as she cocked her gun, sliding a bullet into the chamber, needing to keep one hand free for this fight.

Before they went out there, Katrina stopped Deckard as she positioned herself in front of the baby.

"Alright little man, this might be a little scary, but I promise you, it's going to be a lot of fun," she said as she lightly tapped his nose and he laughed.

Deckard then tucked the carrier under his one arm, the baby facing him as the doors slid open and Katrina went out first, drawing the fire.

The first man she saw as the doors slid open, she kicked in the chest, knocking him out as he hit his head as he fell. She tackled the next one, snapping his neck as Deckard fired several shots past her towards the men running at them.

He ducked for cover as Katrina surged forward, squeezing the trigger as she put bullets into the bodies of the two men coming at them as Deckard put three rounds into the man running towards them from the way it came.

Deckard was then attacked by three men at once as he called out, "Kats!" and slid the baby carrier across the floor to where she caught it with her free hand, blocking the little guy from the sight as she emptied out her clip.

"I'm out!"

"Me too!"

"Back in a sec," Katrina said to the baby as she tucked him under a table, hidden by the lounge chairs as he faced the wall, still laughing at the music.

Katrina and Deckard then went hand-to-hand with the six men that appeared, both working in sync as they made easy work of the men, both of them having fought together so long that fighting together was as easy as breathing.

Deckard then reloaded his gun before he went to check on the baby, both of them smiling at each other and Katrina smiling at them as she too reloaded her gun, a small moment of sunshine in the dark storm they were in.

But as Deckard stood up, a man appeared, emptying his entire clip into the back of Deckard's bulletproof vest as he held the baby to his chest, running backwards as he ducked for cover.

Katrina then wasted no time in placing one round in his leg and two more in his chest, the man dropping to his knees from the impact to his vest as he dropped his empty gun.

"You were gonna shoot a baby?" she asked incredulously as she stood at her husband's side.

"You sick bastard," Deckard swore as he moved towards him.

Katrina let Deckard smash the guy's head repeatedly on a countertop, hearing his skull crack, as she turned the baby away and entertained him, both of them smiling and laughing at each other as he moved to the music, his hands tiny and warm as they gripped her gloved fingers.

"You alright?" Deckard asked as he came back over, and they were nothing but grins.

"We're both good."

"Good. Because we've got an appointment to keep."

Deckard placed a chaste kiss on her lips as they moved out, Katrina holding the baby close as they put bullets into the last of the men, and ended up in the control room, with their guns aimed at Cipher.

"You're both outta bullets," Cipher said as they set down their guns, Katrina still holding the carrier.

"Like I'm gonna need a gun to take care of you."

"How did you find me?" she asked, and Deckard held up Dom's necklace that still had the tracker on it.

"Kats bugged you. And not even your technology detected it."

"Resourceful," Cipher praised to the woman.

"You have a lot to answer for Cipher. For what you put my family through. My mother. I'm gonna make sure that never happens again. To anyone."

"There's only one flaw in your plan."

"What's that?" Deckard asked.

"Only one of us has a parachute."

Faster than they could process, Cipher slipped on the backpack as she opened an emergency door.

Unexpecting of it, Katrina clutched the carrier to her chest as she was sucked towards the door, wind rushing in her ears as she struggled to breathe, her body sliding across the floor.

With her eyes squeezed tight as she was forced closer to the exit, she didn't see Deckard jump over the console and her, and hitting the button to close the door.

The heavy metal door sliding shut just as Katrina's back hit it.

"You alright? You both ok?" Deckard asked worriedly as he dropped down to his knees and cupped her face.

"I'm ok. I'm ok," she promised as they both turned to the baby who was still laughing.

"Told you it would be fun," Deckard said as he winked at the baby and Katrina just laid her head on his knee as she huffed a laugh as she looked up at Deckard.

"Let's get the hell off this plane."
