Dear Reader,

It has been a journey and I'm glad that you have stuck around this far. Whether you found this book at its conception or have just binged read in the middle of class, you have contributed towards what I had believed to be impossible. At times, I know this story is not easy to digest. It is, however, realistic in its own right. Scout is not a good person, she makes bad decisions and her logic is flawed. She puts her instincts before the consideration of others but she was never meant to be perfect.

I've said this from the beginning: MOCKINGBIRD is not a happy book. But I never believed Criminal Minds to be a happy show. And while Spencer deserves the world, he put his trust in the hands of the wrong person and it backfired. He was never prepared for the ricochet.

No one ever is.

But I do hope that you will continue their journey in BLACKBIRD. Because I can assure you that while it may seem over, it never truly is.
