NANA'S CAMPAIGN:

AKI: "Hm? Where did Setsuna go?"

SHIZUKU: "Oh, she said she was going to take a break and left just now."

AKI: "We haven't even started talking about strategy yet, why is she taking a break? We can't beat Mifune without a strategy!"

KARIN: "She didn't seem to be acting like someone going on a break, though."

AI: "Hmm. I thought she'd gotten her groove back when we got together the other day, but it looks like it's still weighing on her mind."

KANATA: "Shioriko Mifune has really been upping the intensity if her campaign these days, after all."

AKI: "I know that, and it's frustrating me..."

KASUMI: "She visited all the first-year classrooms today! Apparently, she appears all around the place when break time rolls by!"

AKI: "Yeah, and I bet she sucks up to everyone, too!"

EMMA: "We've been trying to casually cheer up Setsuna too, but it hasn't been going well."

AYUMU: "Yeah, that's right. Maybe Setsuna will feel better if you lend her an ear."

AKI: "I'll go look for her. Everyone else, continue with research!"

...

NANA: "I must win... I don't want to be the reason why the club is abolished."

AKI: *Huff* *Huff* "There you are!"

NANA: "Oh? What's the matter?"

AKI: "You should know! I came looking for you since you suddenly left the clubroom before we could discuss strategy!"

NANA: "Oh, I'm sorry. Um, I just went to go buy a drink along with my break."

AKI: "You came to the rooftop to buy a drink?"

NANA: "Oh, uh..."

AKI: "Listen! ...Is the coast clear?"

NANA: "Nobody else is up here. It's just us."

AKI: "Alright. Listen, Setsuna! It can't be helped that you're worried about the re-election, but I want you to trust in me rather than carrying the burden all on your own."

NANA: "I-I'm sorry. Um, I'll go back to practice right away."

AKI: "We're not even practicing!"

NANA: "Oh..."

AKI: "Please. I want to do this together with you. I want you to let me wrack my brains. Everyone in the club feels the same way, you know?"

NANA: "But... I could see how much work the School Idol Festival preparations would require at our last gathering.
Which is why I figured it wouldn't be right for me to burden all of you. Especially you, since you're now in charge of the entire event."

AKI: "Don't be ridiculous. It would be unbearable for us to not be able to help you. That's why I'm begging you to trust in me. Let me help you!"

NANA: "Thank you very much. Then, is it okay if I just talk to you?"

AKI: "Of course! We need to discuss strategy."

NANA: "Okay, shoot."

AKI: "Not here."

NANA: "Why not?"

AKI: "Who knows who could be listening to us? Mifune could have spies everywhere in this school!"

NANA: "I...doubt that."

AKI: "Are there any empty rooms in the school?"

NANA: "The council's meeting room should be empty the whole day. It's soundproof too."

AKI: "Perfect."

...

NANA: "That's a large binder you're carrying."

AKI: "It won't be a binder for long. We're going to turn this baby into a manifesto!"

NANA: "Really?"

AKI: "It's integral for all politicians to hold a manifesto of their promises and policies. I assume the same applies to Student Council."

NANA: "Y-Yeah. They give the student body a reason to vote."

AKI: "Before we can run publicity for your election campaign, we need a reason to vote for you. So, tell me, what made you decide to become the Student Council President?"

NANA: "Well, um..."

Great start...

AKI: "Is it because you want to make the whole school better?"

NANA: "I'm sorry. I don't have any particularly strong feelings behind my reasons for becoming the Student Council President.
The biggest motive was following what my parents told me to do."

AKI: "...?!"

Of course, it all makes sense now.

NANA: "I was brought up being told that they wanted me to become someone who was proactive and took on leadership roles."

AKI: "Looks like we're both in the same boat. Being raised to follow a path that someone else has chosen for you..."

NANA: "I figured I could be the person my parents wanted me to be if I became the Student Council President. That's why I did the same thing in elementary and middle school."

AKI: "For this long you have forced yourself to do this?"

NANA: "Oh, no. That's not what I meant."

AKI: "So, you actually enjoy being Student Council President?"

NANA: "Yes. I really do feel a sense of accomplishment, and because I've been doing it since I was a child, it has become part of my life.
Also, my parents don't nag me when I'm the Student Council President."

AKI: "Nag?"

NANA: "They'd be stricter about my curfew and I wouldn't be able to set aside any time for my school idol activities if I lost the presidency."

AKI: "That would be troublesome..."

The image I have of Setsuna's parents becomes stricter and stricter the more I hear about them.
I thought my father was bad, but it sounds like Setsuna's been through hell.

NANA: "I really must win the re-election."

AKI: "That's what we're here for. First thing's first, everyone needs to know what exactly it is that you're striving for.
Mifune's posters stated that she would run the school in a way to suit the needs of every single student.
What kind of school do you want to create, Setsuna?"

NANA: "What? Uhhh, well..."

AKI: "Take your time."

NANA: "I've always thought that being the Student Council President was a behind-the-scenes job."

AKI: "Okay."

NANA: "I've always carried out my role by creating a comfortable environment for all the students who attend the school."

AKI: "So...?"

NANA: "So... What I'm trying to say is... Um, the school I'm striving to create is one that is comfortable for...everyone?"

AKI: "You don't sound certain."

NANA: "I want the students to be comfortable!"

AKI: "That's more like it! I think your ideal school is really great, Setsuna. It means you'll support us so that we can do what we want, right?"

NANA: "Right!"

AKI: "However, to the average student, what Mifune's saying isn't wrong either. What we need is something to make you stand out."

NANA: "Ugh, you're right."

AKI: "I'd like to share some knowledge on election campaigns. But we need an outside opinion."

NANA: "Really? Who can we ask for that?"

AKI: "We got a Festival Committee of THREE Student Council Presidents. Yourself, Eli and Dia.
μ's and Aqours said they'd help us, so we're not going to waste that opportunity.
I'll give them a call."

...

ELI: "What do I do as Student Council President?"

AKI: "Yep, we need help. I hope we're not disturbing you."

ELI: "Not at all! Let me think... I'm careful about listening to every single opinion, no matter how small it may be. I think the average student sees the President as strict and intimidating.
So I try to keep my door open as wide as possible."

AKI: "This is great stuff! Thanks Eli."

...

DIA: "I see. So that's why you would like some advice about what you should do as Student Council President."

AKI: "If we're going to run this campaign, we're going to need all the knowledge we can obtain. Please, President Kurosawa, bestow your leadership skills upon us!"

DIA: "Very well. The first thing I do is let the students talk it out themselves as there is a possibility of the students losing their independence if the Student Council resolves everything.
As such..."

AKI: "I see... Thank you, Dia."

Freedom of independence, an interesting thought.
...

NANA: "The aspect they both share is the strong communication they maintain with the students. I've tried to keep my ear out for everyone by setting up a suggestion box, but..."

AKI: "That's right. When Kasumi and I went to the Student Council room for the first time, you listened to everything we had to say, so I don't think you're wrong in that respect."

NANA: "I'll try pushing my approachability to the students by doing things like placing more suggestion boxes around the school."

AKI: "That's a great start. Making an impact while you're a leader gives the public a reason to keep you in charge.
Let's get started on making them, right away."

NANA: "Great, thank you very much!"

AKI: "That's not all, we're going to need posters and lots of them. I know a guy who helped out with the P.V posters."

NANA: "Shiro Kosaka, second year?"

AKI: "Yes. He's our biggest fan. I'm surprised since Honoka is his cousin."

NANA: "It looks like there are students out there that don't want the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club to go out of business."

AKI: "We need to find a way to appeal to all of these students. If you revealed yourself to be Setsuna Yuki, I'm certain that they would vote for you."

NANA: "N-No way..."

AKI: "Right, that was a test. Never sell out your beliefs. You passed, good job.
In politics it's usually not just about how good your policies are, but how loud you are. People love a captivating leader, and when you're on stage Setsuna, everyone is captivated by you."

NANA: "But that's Setsuna... I'm just Nana."

AKI: "Nana. Is. Setsuna. I know that Setsuna wouldn't want Nana to give up on her passions!"

NANA: "Right! No student should feel pushed by someone else to do something, they should be allowed to choose their own path!"

AKI: "We got ourselves a campaign! The both of us have experienced this for too long, we don't want someone to write this book for us... We write our own story! Every student should write their own story!"

NANA: "?!"

AKI: "How's that?"

NANA: "It's perfect!"
