Dear diary

Today was a weird but also special day. Today we received or should I say captured a group of South Korean doctors and nurses to our team. A group of us were assigned to be guarding them the whole time during their stay here and had to make sure that they didn't tell any outsiders any secret information. We were standing in front of the gate waiting for the doctors and nurses to come.

Hyunjin: Thank you unnie for choosing me. Finally, I get to do something easy instead of hard training.

Hyunjin leaned over to whisper to me. I poked her in the side secretly to make her stand back straight again.

Jahoon: Nothing is easy. Just because you have to follow a nurse around the camp doesn't mean for it to be that easy of a task. You have to make sure that they, first of all, don't talk with any outsiders. And also have to make sure that they have all the supplies that they need. On top of all of that, you have to follow them 24/7. That leaves you with no free time!

Hyunjin: You are just mad that you won't be available to see your girl that easily.

I looked at her with a glare to shut up before returning my attention back to the gate where the car, which was supposed to fetch the medical team was nowhere. I watched as they began getting down from the car and saw the general of the army gesturing for me to come closer and stand beside her. I watched the medical team as I noticed someone familiar. Someone that I had hoped would not get involved with anything that I did.

GOTA: Welcome everyone to the camp. Some of you may be wondering why you are here. You guys will be joining our great army to fight against the Japanese army. You will have to help us whenever our soldiers get hurt and treat them. During your stay here a soldier will be with you 24/7 to ensure your safety. Please line up one by one, so we can easily match you with your soldier.

The medical team did as told and was being paired up one by one. I could only hope that it was going to be me who was going to be paired with Chaehyun. After a moment it was finally her turn. The general of the army turned to me and reached out to gesture to me.

GOTA: You are lucky because the person who you are going to be with is Colonel Park here. I believe that you two will get to know each other greatly. Colonel Park please show miss Kim around the area and show her the way to her room,

Jahoon: Yes ma'am!

I looked at Chaehyun and gestured for her to follow me after taking her bags. When we were away from the others and in an area where there weren't a lot of people, Chaehyun turned to face me while walking.

Chaehyun: You must be surprised to see me here.

Jahoon: Well you don't say. I think you owe me an explanation. We are here now.

We arrived at the small tent that was provided for her. Inside of it was two beds with a nightstand beside them. One bed for her and the other bed for me.

Chaehyun: Why are there two beds?

Jahoon: The other one is for me. I will be sleeping with you during your stay here.

Chaehyun: That is nice. At least it will be with someone I know that I'm safe with.

Chaehyun looked around to see if anyone was watching before she tiptoed to kiss me on my cheek, making me smile. I looked around before giving her a chaste kiss on the lips and helped her with unpacking her stuff. When we were done, we then began walking around the camp while I introduced her to the different places. Suddenly a group of soldiers was being brought into the camp on stretchers, making Chaehyun have to work. We got to the medical tent and she got changed into her working clothes before she began tending a soldier. I stood beside her the whole time and made sure that she had everything she needed.

Jahoon: You know that you haven't told me yet why you are here? I had hoped that you wouldn't get involved with my type of life.

We were standing at a table with medical stuff. Luckily there weren't many people around now and the people who were there were too far away to be available to hear my whisper.

Chaehyun: Before the war, I was studying to become a doctor but because of the war I lost the opportunity since my parents didn't earn a lot of money for me to continue. I was brought here by your "friends" since there were needed for some people with a medical background. And since there weren't enough doctors and nurses, people like me were brought in.

Chaehyun changed back into her normal clothes and washed her hands before waving goodbye to her friends and leaving the tent. I followed her right behind but we were stopped by Hyunjin and the one she was following around.

Hyunjin: Jahoon-! I mean Colonel Park! I have been searching for you! Please excuse us for a moment girls.

Hyunjin bowed slightly to the other girls and grabbed me by my arm a bit away from the other girls so that they couldn't hear us.

Jahoon: What is there?

Hyunjin: I heard the GOTA talk about you with the other higher-ups! They are getting suspicious about you! And I'm sure that they are beginning to catch on you and Chaehyun.

I looked at her with slight shock. I glanced over to Chaehyun, who was talking with her friend. I sighed and rubbed my face with my hands. I have to do something about this. I looked at Hyunjin and patted her on her shoulder.

Jahoon: Thank you for telling me. I... I will try to be careful.

I walked over to Chaehyun and her friend and smiled at them. Chaehyun waved goodbye to her friend before we made our way to our tent to sleep for the night.

Chaehyun: What did you and Hyunjin talk about?

Jahoon: Nothing much. Just some boring military stuff.

Chaehyun nodded and turned around to grab her things from her bed to do her nightly routine. I looked at her back sadly. I'm sorry Chaehyun. I'm sorry for dragging you into this. I promise myself that I will protect you. Even if it means that I'm going to lose my life.
