Phone Call

"I need to call Damien," Drake insisted. His uncle was hung over and could barely respond with a low growl. "What's his number?" Drake shouted louder. "Our girl has blacked out because of an overload of my thoughts . . . or something. I don't know what to do and Damien said he didn't want her harmed. I don't want to be harmed. Amon, I need his number, now."

Amon threw a pillow over his head in response, mumbling, "Get out of my fucking room, Damien. I'm sleeping."

"Would you stop that already?" Drake bristled. He hated that man and couldn't stand it when Amon taunted him with his name. This was no time for his games! "Just tell me the damn number!"

"It's in a drawer," he paused to moan as if he were dying, "where the rose vase is. Now please leave me alone, brother!"

Sure enough it was there and Drake quickly punched it into the phone on the wall, until it came to the last digit. He held his breath and then pushed the cold metal with a final click like ripping off a bandaid. Then the slow monotonous ringing began. Time went on for so long that Drake was beginning to feel relieved that Damien might not pick up, but of course he did.

"Amon," a sleepy voice sounded out, "it's three in the morning. What is it?"

"Dane," Drake sighed, happy that his uncle had answered and not Damien.

"Should I wake up Damien?" He asked.

"No!" Drake shouted loud and clear and then more calmly, "No, I just need to know how to fix Jade so she doesn't die. My thoughts are ringing in her head so loudly that she blacked out."

"She actually blacked out," Dane sounded concerned. "Drake I really don't know what to do, but I think you should bring her here as soon as you can in case something very bad does happen."

"I'd have to drag her in," Drake laughed at the idea, "it would be a pain in my ass."

"And if she does end up hurt would it have been worth it?" Dane countered him, "Because Damien will come down on you as soon as something happens to her."

"Fine, but there's this guy," Drake began with a heavy sigh, thinking about Erik. He wouldn't let her go if she just disappeared

"Bring her tomorrow or Damien will be down there in the blink of an eye," Dane growled.

"I'll be there with her and Amon by tomorrow evening," Drake muttered, rolling his eyes and then hanging up the phone.
