I Love You

The next day Damien must have found himself recovered and fully healthy because he was gone long before Jade was out of bed at eight. She didn't know at the time, but that night was the last time she would see Damien for four straight months. He must have been extremely annoyed with her comments the previous night because when she sat down at the table for breakfast, Dane muttered through his sips of coffee, "We're going back to Dark World tomorrow."

"And Damien?" She raised an eyebrow.

"He'll stay here," Amon responded with a smile. "The poor man's soul can't take anymore of you."

"Like anyone believes that Damien has a soul," Drake scoffed, walking into the room with a yawn. He sat beside Jade, reading her thoughts to understand what was being discussed. "You should be happy then," he spoke aloud to her.

"I-I am," she sighed, "I don't like End World, but . . . will Damien be alright on his own?"

Drake scoffed and rolled his eyes, while Dane spoke, "Dear he is a grown man."

"Who seems to be near death every other day," Jade pointed out.

"Are you concerned little bird?" Amon didn't call her by her name.

"A little, yes," she snapped, ignoring the confusion building up about her feelings.

Face it. You care about the man. Drake's voice growled in her head.

"No!" She spoke aloud by mistake, causing Amon to smile at the two of them.

"Jade, I can take you to him if you want to say goodbye," he nodded with his words in a reassuring way as his eyes darted away from her.

"I don't care about him. I hate him," she began to shout as her anger boiled, "he kidnapped me, has abused me multiple times and is unbearable. I hate him."

"No need to repeat yourself, my love," Damien smiled as he walked into the room.

Jade gasped, glancing to where Dane had placed his head in his hands while and then to where Amon giggled in the corner like ht imp he was.

"You hate me," he gestured to himself and then pulled out a chair to sit in, "you made it clear the first time."

"I-I," she stuttered, narrowing her eyes at his cool demeanor and slowly she gathered herself, remembering that, "well you hate me too."

"No," Damien shook his head, sitting down with a sigh, "I love you, darling."

Jade was instantly put into a state of shock until both Amon and Drake began to laugh hysterically at the statement.

Damien glanced at the two of them through his smile and then returned his gaze back onto her, "with all of my pulsing heart."

"One problem," Drake laughed, "he doesn't have one."

Damien smiled at his son evilly, before sighing, "Well, I suppose we should eat our last meal together for some time."
