Horrifying News

It had been at least two hours, but Drake was still sitting on the very spot where Jade had first vanished. He wondered when Damien would show up again. He'd taken Petra away by her arm, seeming furious. He wondered what she had done to make him that upset.

Laying down on the cold marble, Drake ran his fingers over the floor, searching for any left over pieces of the broken glass. He couldn't find any. The servants had done their job well. As he stared up at the dark ceiling, he wondered how long the recovery time would be for Erik. From what Dane had last told him there was a high chance of him being paralyzed from the waist down, but at least he'd live.

Somewhere off in the distance he heard the click of boots echoing across the room. He sat up to see Damien standing in front of him holding a flashlight. Drake bristled.

"Why did you make me cut that cord?" He hissed at Damien.

"I told the two of you to obey me. Did I not give you fair enough warning?" Damien asked as if he were completely innocent.

"At least he didn't die," Drake rolled his eyes.

"Petra told Jade that he had," Damien growled, rolling his eyes and sitting down with Drake.

"No wonder she was in hysterics. Did you see her before she vanished?" he sighed, shaking his head and trying to ignore the uncomfortable knot tying inside him from being so close to Damien. "Do you think she's come back somewhere else? Should we look for her?"

Damien frowned at him, "Yeah I saw her black out, but no I found this crumbled up on the stair case," he held out what was left of Jade's time-traveling ring to Drake.

"So what's this mean," he said taking it and studying the bent metal and shattered glass.

"It means," Damien sighed, "that she's stuck in whatever time she traveled to."

"Who broke the ring?" Drake said, biting his lip.

"Myself in the past," Damien shrugged, "I don't want to discuss it."

"Well, how the hell will she get back?" Drake yelled at him, standing up. How was he being nonchalant about this?

"I don't know!" Damien, stood up as well to tower over him.

"Well, as long as she thinks that Erik is dead she'll see no point in anything," Drake barked, "we may never see her again and while that may not concern you now, remember that you are in her debt."

He turned to leave, but Damien grabbed his arm, holding him back. "Drake, you need to understand something before you try to find a way to reach her in the past."

Drake turned his head and looked into his eyes, realizing that he was being dead serious. Sighing he slipped his arm out of Damien's grip and waited for what was to come.
