Fighting back

Blair had shown up as they all boarded off the train to get into a yellow cab and quickly drive to a nearby hotel, a very expensive one from what Jade could tell. She was still new to this world, being only her second time visiting. Every thing seemed to be closing in on her. Shiny metal every where, as cars zoomed by faster than any other world she knew of. Planes zipped though the sky and people held devices next to their ears talking as if someone were there. She didn't like this world, it made her uneasy.

They rode what Drake said was an elevator to the highest level of the hotel which was the hundredth floor and walked down the soft carpeted hallway to a room, where Damien flashed the key of the door in front of a scanner so that the door clicked open. Then all six of them flooded into the massive room. Jade hurried over to a chair in the corner by the window, hoping to be as far away from the lot of them as she possibly could be. Even the biggest room in all of the worlds wasn't big enough for her and Drake's family. She looked out the window, smiling at how high up they were. The people down below weren't even visible, only the brightly colored cars moved along so far down below.

"How long before this stupid ball of yours starts?" Drake growled from where he stood, leaning against the wall.

"It's only noon, so like six and a half hours I guess," Amon shrugged, "why got something you need to do?"

"I just don't want to fight anymore," Drake sighed, slipping down the wall until he was sitting on the shiny hardwood floor. "And now that all of us are in the same room-"

"I agree with the kid," Damien, muttered from where he lay exhausted on the bed. Dane had helped him up without speaking a word.

Drake shot a strange look his way, but Damien's eye were closed. He probably was too tired to even bother hating Drake. "So you just want to lie around here the entire afternoon?" Blair whined, stepping out of the bathroom wearing a pink sundress and a large floppy sun hat. Jade glared at her, remembering that it was summer in this world.

"The beach isn't too far from here, about thirty minutes," she continued sitting down on the bed beside Damien, stroking his hair.

He turned his head to look at her through one opened eye and gently said, "I'm not in the mood sister and frankly I don't see how you can be."

Suddenly Jade felt two hands on her shoulders and Drake whispered into her ear. "We can leave and meet up with some of my friends."

She rolled her eyes, wishing that one day he wouldn't be able to read her thoughts. Yes, she did want to get away from Damien and the rest preferably before she exploded from frustration, but Damien probably wouldn't let them leave and no one was in the mood to side with Drake and her.

"Would you like to come?" Blair asked someone else. Jade didn't even bother looking up as Drake began to think his plan of escaping to her. "Jade?" Blair spat out, irritatedly.

Her head shot up, "Y-you mean me?" She obviously did because there she sat on the bed staring right into Jade's eyes.

"Aw, sweetie," she began too sweetly, "I don't hold a grudge on you for lying. Actually, I can understand why you did make up that nasty little lie."

"Make Amon go," Drake whispered into her ear, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"Stop whispering over there," Dane growled, glaring at the two of them. He was rarely angry, but when he was it took him a while to let it go. "Jade, answer Blair's question."

"No," Jade said to her as she stared into Dane's eyes, "go on you own! Go flirt with boys on the beach to try to get over that idiot that left you or better yet just keep on going and don't stop at the beach. Go back to whatever hole you crawled out of!"

She stood up and began walking towards the door, well aware of Drake's laughing and everyone else's shocked faces. "Wait!" Blair managed, before she could reach the door, "you can't just say that to me I-"

"Why can't I?" Jade turned around to face her with a smirk. "You all treat me as if I were a prisoner. I'm fed up with it and if Damien can't force me to do anything or have me punished then I'm going to do what I want for once. You are a spoiled brat and I am not your slave, Blair!"

Drake was giving her a satisfied smile as if he'd been waiting for her to crack since the day she had first come, but Damien was not in the least bit as happy. Actually, he looked like he would kill her, if he could, but he couldn't do a damn thing. She was free. She hadn't thrown her freedom away that night, she had taken it. Smiling to herself she turned back around and reached for the door.

"And where do you think you're going?" Damien spoke out right before her hand could touch the cold metal, "You have no money, you have only been to this world once. You know nothing. You don't even know how to operate the damn elevator."

"No," she answered smugly, "but Drake does."

"And is he coming with you, because otherwise as soon as you set step out of this building his voice will be muted from your naive little mind, " Damien reminded her.

"Are you worried?" She gave him a pouty look before turning back to the door, flipping her long hair. The hotel wasn't a mile high. She'd be fine or well, at least better off than she was with Damien.

She slammed the door behind her, which only made Drake laugh harder. He knew that now that she was no longer in the room, Damien had every opportunity to harm him, but he had never seen someone stand up to Blair like that before yet alone Damien.
