Relax

As (Y/N) finally managed to pull themselves together, Luka could only get more worried. Yeah, he had taken care of (Y/N) after nightmares before but this one felt so different. It felt too real and too scary for even (Y/N) to calm down for a while, not even able to get two words out about the dream before going into hysterics again. He just sat there anxiously holding his partner, waiting for them to settle again.

"I'm not going to ask you what happened, doll, but is there anything I can do to help?" he asked softly as the sobs once again turned into small sniffles and the occasional hiccup, he frowned when (Y/N) just muttered a small "I'm okay" in response. "My love, you have to drink some water at least, all that crying left you completely dehydrated," he nuzzled his face into their neck and sighed, tickling (Y/N) and making a small laugh escape their lips "Pretty please?" he pouted, looking up at his partner with pleading eyes.

(Y/N) just sighed, admitting defeat to his damn perfect eyes, his small cheer and thank you kiss was enough to get (Y/N) to finally relax their muscles and smile while Luka handed them their water. "Thank you, Luka," they whispered when he settled back into bed, pulling them into his chest "I don't know how I would have dealt with all of that if I was alone."

Luka kissed their head and smiled, "Good thing you'll always have me, then."

(Y/N) giggled and grinned in response, "Such a romantic, Couffaine."

"It's part of my charm, doll"

"What do you mean they're not cooperating?" Hawkmoth growled later that evening, Asra and flown off to see him and provide his report. Hawkmoth pushed himself off the desk he was leaning on and stalked closer to the floating kwami, his cane held so tight in his hand his knuckles were white "You had one job, Asra," he said before slamming his cane into the floor, making Asra flinch "all you had to do was keep them isolated enough to listen to me"

"I appreciate that, sir, but the vision is enough proof that (Y/N) won't listen to you."

"Visions predict a possible timeline," Hawkmoth hissed, insisting things could still go his way "It is your job to keep them in line, and I will happily give that job to someone else could you continue being a failure, Asra."

"Yes, sir" Asra mumbled, trying not to think of what that might mean for (Y/N)

"Get out of my sight and fix your mistake"

Luka sat on the floor with his legs crossed, his head moving back and forth as (Y/N) paced across the floor, recalling as much as they could about the vision and the things Asra had explained to them. It was hard to imagine the whole city in disarray as (Y/N)'s fault, seeing as they had nothing but good intentions, but he had to give the benefit of the doubt. He perched himself on his feet, his elbows resting on his knees as he put the pieces together "So, the city is in disarray from some kind of massive battle, right?" continuing as (Y/N) nodded along "But visions aren't always going to come true as they are one of a million possibilities within millions of changes, right?"

"Of course, but seeing that- seeing what could happen is terrifying" (Y/N) said, trying to defend their emotional state

"I never said it wasn't," Luka said, standing up to put a reassuring hand on their shoulder, taking a mental note of how tense (Y/N) was "But I'm also saying we can figure it out and keep it from happening. For example, and these are just hypotheticals, you could stop being a hero, we could find and catch hawkmoth, or someone somewhere does something and butterfly effects and we never see the city in shambles like that."

(Y/N) physically deflated, laying across the bed with a huff and a look of embarrassment "You make it sound so simple,"

"I love you, but you have a tendency to overthink everything so the obvious answers can get clouded. You need to be able to step back and ground yourself for a bit when you get like that, you know? I was like that when I was younger, so I get how hard it can be but I'd be happy to help." He said as he sat next to them and their hand in his lap, he could see how tense and wound up (Y/N) was and smirked as an idea came to him I could always give you a massage if you need some of that tension off you. Your shoulders look painfully stiff."

Blood rushed to (Y/N)'s cheeks at the idea, Luka's hands all over them just rubbing all the aches and pains away sounded so blissful they could barely stand the idea. Just seeing the smile on (Y/N)'s face was enough to convince Luka to touch their shoulder gently to pull them into a sitting position for a moment "Now you can leave your shirt on if you're comfortable that way, but I honestly don't mind either way."

(Y/N) hesitated for a moment before turning their back to Luka and sliding their shirt off before quickly laying back on the bed, suddenly hyper-aware of every stretch mark, blemish, and insecurity about their body. Luka wordlessly locked the door to spare (Y/N) the embarrassment of anyone walking in during this display of vulnerability before pulling massage oil out of his drawer. He had mentioned his legs got cramped sometimes as he rode around making deliveries, so it was convenient for him to have something on hand.

Luka sat back and smiled, placing a cautious hand on (Y/N)'s shoulder "You let me know if anything hurts or you want to put your shirt back on, okay? This is all about making you feel better. However, for what it's worth, I think you are gorgeous." he said, trying to reassure (Y/N) as he slowly started working on their upper back, kneading all of the knots and tensions out of their neck and shoulders, he kept his hands working where (Y/N) was already comfortable first before asking if they wanted him to go lower down to their waist and lower back.

"Do you want me to keep going, my love?" Luka whispered, not sure if (Y/N) was still awake and wanting to keep them relaxed

(Y/N) nodded, sighing a thank you as he worked. It was so easy to feel comfortable with Luka, the light and gentle kisses he would give on their body after he finished that section made (Y/N)'s stomach fill with butterflies, and their squeaks in surprise always made Luka smile. Eventually, he finished and very gently massaged their arms before pulling back "All done, dearest." he said softly, turning away as (Y/N) pulled their shirt back on.

"Thank you, Luka." (Y/N) said as they melted into Luka's arms, hugging him tight "I needed that."

"I'm happy to do all of that and more, just say the word," Luka said, kissing their head as they nuzzled into his chest. He rested his hand on their hair cautiously, twirling a few strands between his fingers "Do you feel better?", he asked, smiling when (Y/N) nodded and laughing slightly when they pulled back to yawn "You sleepy, love?"

"A little bit," (Y/N) mumbled, sighing as Luka picked them up and settled them into bed, and sliding in next to them

"Go to sleep and relax, love. I'll keep you safe."

(A/N: Writing this chapter was a trip, my friends. I started it like two weeks ago and miraculously found the motivation to finish it at 2 am, and here I am an hour later with yet ANOTHER self-indulgent chapter. I hope you enjoyed it!)
