Meeting The Parents 🌹

A/N: Kirishima's parents aren't shitty in this one

Kirishima POV

I know that Bakugo is nervous. It's pretty obvious to me. I can see how he keeps fiddling with the collar of his shirt, muttering that "the stupid thing doesn't look right." And he brought a tie to wear. He never wears a tie. Probably because he doesn't know how to tie one, which I figured out back on I-Island.

I moved his hands away from his shirt collar and held them. "Oi, shitty hair, I need to fix my shirt."

"Your shirt looks lovely, Katsu." It did. It was a maroon color and, while it wasn't fancy or anything, it fit him perfectly, with his (very) large chest and broad shoulders almost stretching the material, making it highlight his toned body.

"Do you think I should change? Maybe I should wear the blue one instead-"

"Stop worrying. You look great. Come over here so I can do your tie." He handed me the thin black tie and I started to tie it, purposely pressing myself against him to make him blush a bit. When I was finished, I straightened it out and flipped his collar back down, keeping my hands behind his head, moving up into his hair.

"Oi, you're gonna ruin my hair! It took fuckin forever to get it to look like this!" I thought it looked the same as usual, but I didn't want him to stress out any more than he already was, so I didn't say anything. I handed him his suit jacket and suggested that we head out.

We were going out to dinner with my parents at some fancy restaurant that they picked out. They knew that Bakugou and I had been dating for a while and they wanted to meet him a lot. They'd been pestering me for a while until I finally gave in. We set a date and they chose a place that Bakugou and I could walk to from our place. It was really expensive, often populated with rich people. My parents were by no means rich, but wanted to go somewhere nice to meet Bakugou.

Bakugou's been stressed all afternoon about this. He said that he wasn't but I know how much he really cares and how he wants to be a part of my family some day, so I knew that he'd want to make a really good first impression. I, on the other hand, wasn't worried at all. Despite his temper, Bakugou is truly a good person and a wonderful boyfriend, which is something that anyone could see, my parents included.

As we finally headed out the door, Bakugou nervously tapped his fingers on his side. I locked my hand in his and continued to hold on to him as we walked down the street. He got more and more tense the closer we got to the restaurant, so I gave him kisses on the cheek every once in a while to try to calm him down.

Bakugou POV

Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. His parents are gonna hate me. They'll think that I'm not worthy of dating their son. I mean, they're right, but I hate thinking about that. God, I just need to not be a prick for this one night. That's it.

The task sounded so simple in my head, but I knew it wouldn't be. I was very easily frustrated by just about everything and, despite all my efforts, I could never tame my temper. If I snapped in front of his parents, it would ruin everything.

They would never want him to see me again and they wouldn't want me in their house and they wouldn't accept me as his boyfriend, but I know he'd argue with them if they told him not to see me and I don't want to be the reason that his relationship with his parents gets ruined and-

"Katsu, we're almost there, okay?" I nodded, not trusting my own voice. He kept kissing my cheek and it brought some comfort, knowing that I had him by my side.

Before I knew it, we were standing at the door to the restaurant, heading inside.

Okay, just don't be yourself. Nobody likes your regular personality except for Kiri, so show them a respectable young man. Kind of like Iida. Okay, no, I can't do that. Maybe more like Sero. Yeah, that's manageable. Just be like Sero.

Kirishima spotted then sitting at a table already, waiting. If it wasn't for how similar their faces looked, I never would've known it was them, because their hair was the same as Kiri's natural black, which I always forgot he dyed.

Kirishima's dad stood up and gave Kiri a hug, before turning to me. He held his hand out to me and I took it, trying not to grasp too firmly. "Hello sir. My name is Bakugou Katsuki."

He laughed a little bit, but not in a mean way. Him and Kirishima had the same smile. "Kid, you don't need to be so stiff. With how much Eijirou's told us about you, I feel like I already know you!" He started laughing again and Kiri blushed bright red.

"Dad, stop! That's embarrassing!" His dad just kept laughing and sat back down. Then, his mom stood and, after giving him a hug, came to me and held her arms open for a hug.  I'd assumed that one of them would be as touchy-feely as Kiri, and it appeared to be her. I returned the hug.

"It's so nice to meet you sweetheart! I've been looking forward to it!"

I smiled as nicely as I could manage. "It's really nice to meet you too." After that, we finally sat down and I opened the menu in front of me.

His parent were good at small talk, they started chatting with him about the weather and their neighbor who brought them a carrot cake the other day. I tried my best to pretend I cared, despite how boring I thought it was. Finally, they moved to a topic I was well versed in: food.

As they all looked at the menu and discussed what they were having, Kiri's dad said, "Eijirou, what are you having?"

I knew what the answer would be, and I mockingly mouthed the word "steak" at the exact time that Kiri spoke it, not looking up from my menu. His mom, who was sitting right across from me, saw this and started laughing.

Shit! Stop being an asshole in front of his parents!

It wasn't that easy. Being a dick was a bit of a natural reflex and Kiri's obsession with red meat kicked by dickhead instincts into overdrive.

Kiri and his dad looked confused by the laughing and I tried to continue like nothing happened. Eventually, we'd all ordered our food and were sitting waiting for it to arrive.

The restaurant was packed and the poor servers were scrambling to serve everyone. The restaurant had a lot of rich people by the looks of it and they didn't appear to have any patience or respect for the working class, which was majorly pissing me off.

I ignored it and kept on a happy face, not wanting to do anything stupid, when some douchebag just had to go and make that difficult.

Apparently, the teenage waitress that was serving his food was taking to long and wasn't focused enough on his table. His solution to that? To start cussing her out in front of the entire restaurant. Loudly.

He yelled at her, saying that she should be fired and that she was horrible at her job and she should have to pay for his entire meal out of her paycheck.

I knew that I was in front of Kiri's parents and that I should behave, but I just couldn't do it.

I slammed my hand down on the table as I stood up. "Hey, assbag, why don't you shut the fuck up!"

He looked at me, shocked, as did the rest of the people in the room. I assumed Kiri's parents had the same look, but I couldn't bring myself to look at them. Instead, I focused on the pompous prick in front of me.

"Her job isn't to sit there and hold your hand as you eat. It's a full fuckin house and there are a ton of people here, so a little bit of patience would be appreciated, you privileged fuck."

"Who the hell do you think you are?"

"Just a representative of the working class. You know, the people that aren't given their dad's credit cards as a substitute for proper parenting. These poor waiters are doing their goddamned best to serve you fuckmunches, so back off. If you want a meal that's ready instantly, there's a McDonalds down the street, go to fuckin town."

I sat back down, my eyes on the floor, not daring to look up. The whole restaurant was dead quiet for a while. Eventually, the man and his group got up and left. I still hadn't looked up.

Fuck. His parents are gonna hate me. They're gonna think I'm a little prick who doesn't know how to shut his mouth. Shit. I really messed up big time.

Our table was quiet for a while too, until Kiri's dad spoke up. "Wow. Eijirou, you really know how to pick 'em!" My face flushed red out of embarrassment, but I didn't sense any sarcasm in his voice. I looked up for a split second and his parents were beaming.

"Did you see that guys face? That was amazing!" His mom laughed loudly and I rubbed the back of my neck, giving an unsure chuckle. Kiri started laughing too, then his dad, and eventually we were all laughing.

In the middle of our laughing fit, the waiter brought an appetizer and placed it down in front of us. I pointed at it. "Uh, this isn't ours."

The waiter smiled. "Oh, I know you didn't order it, but it's on the house!"

Kiri smiled and all four of us started laughing again as we thanked the waiter for the free appetizer.

Huh. Maybe they actually don't mind the real me.

I smiled to myself. It was a nice thought, one that I hoped to hold on to.
