Diana Reid - Chapter Five

I know that this is kind of just filler, but I PROMISE that some of the things in this chapter are important to know. Also, in a couple of years (in the story), some things will actually happen and the story will kick off. I also know that you guys are waiting for me to finish the storyline in the future. Like, what's happening and why's there a war? All will be explained soon, my children. Also, thank you so much for almost a hundred reads, I'm honestly crying right now because I never thought one of my stories that I'm actually proud of would get this far. Seriously, thank you.

'~-Spencer-~'

October 13th, 2001

I exited the crowded Las Vegas airport, my small bag of luggage rolling beside me. The crisp autumn air stung my throat as I strolled down the parking lot and waited at the pickup area. People were hustling around, colorful scarves and cheerful voices standing out amongst the crowd. A black Mercedes pulled up, and I recognized the driver to be Matt, who I hadn't met outside of my dreams quite yet.

"Get in, Lover Boy." He commented, and I chuckled, setting my small brown suitcase in the trunk of the car.

I entered through the passenger door and buckled up, greeting Matt with a tiny wave. He was wearing a yellow sweater with white accents and simple dark jeans, but the colors complimented his eyes so that they appeared to be glowing a bright violet. His ears and tail were obviously not visible, but I could imagine them perking up at the sight of me.

"It's good to properly meet you. We have a lot to discuss over this long drive, so we better get to talking." Matt said, exiting the airport and driving onto the main road.

"I have a question, though. Why aren't we using magic to get from place to place? Wouldn't that take less time?"

"Yes, you are correct in the assumption that it would take less time." He explained. "However, people would be suspicious if you didn't show up to your flight, or if you suddenly disappeared on traffic cameras."

"I guess so. What did you want to talk about?"

"Your future with my sister." Matt calmly stated, his violet eyes glancing in my direction. For the first time, I noticed that his pupils weren't round; they were narrow slits.

"What about it?"

-Time Skip-

We arrived at the facility where my mom was being kept. Matt pulled into a parking spot and motioned for me to get out of the car. I unbuckled my seat belt and stepped out of the vehicle, admiring the building before me.

The two of us walked into the main lobby, immediately greeted by a familiar face.

"Hey, guys." Amelia waved at us shyly, which was a little odd, but I ignored it. She adorned a simple white hoodie patterned with yellow flowers and black pants.

"Hey, Beautiful," I responded, sweeping her up into a hug.

"How was your flight?" She asked, her voice slightly higher pitched than I last remembered.

"It was pretty boring." I kissed her sweetly.

There was a gagging noise from behind us.

"Ew. Straight people." Matt joked, making us pull apart with laughter.

"You're just jealous." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Who wouldn't be? My sister gets to date a gorgeous man like you, and I have to sit back here and watch." He crossed his arms as I shook my head in embarrassment.

"C'mon, let's go see my mother." I changed the subject.

As we walked up to the counter, I noticed that Amelia was barely taller than it. She rested her hands on the marble surface like a child.

"Hello, how can I help you?" A lady in maroon attire stepped up to us.

"Hi, we're here to see Diana Reid?"

"What are your names?" She asked, looking at the computer next to her.

"Spencer Reid, I'm her son," I told her.

"Amelia Savine, I'm his girlfriend," Amelia responded timidly.

"Alright, she's on the second floor. Her room number is 215." She grinned at the two of us.

We thanked her, making sure to say goodbye to Matt on the way to the elevator. I pushed the button that indicated we were traveling upward, and soon the elevator arrived. We stepped in simultaneously, and I pressed the number "2". I felt a surge of anxiety as the elevator began to rise, and I hurried out of the small space when the doors opened to the second floor of the building. My mom was in the main room, working on a puzzle at one of the tables when we approached her.

"Mom, it's me, Spencer." I smiled at her as she looked up from her table.

"Oh, Spence, it's good to see you." She stood up and wrapped her arms around me.

"This must be your girlfriend." Mom gestured to Amelia, who was awkwardly smiling. "I've heard so much about you."

"Oh, uh, yeah. That's me." This reaction surprised me. I had been expecting something along the lines of "All good things I hope" or "Ooh, do tell" in her sweet, energetic tone. I brushed off the feeling that something wasn't quite right as my mother hugged her tightly.

"So, what's your name? I think Spencer forgot to mention it in his letters."

"Um, I...." She hesitated. "Amelia is my name. Yeah."

"What a beautiful name. Y'know, one of my friends back in the day had a little girl named Amelia. God, she cherished her more than anything in the world. I remember when she told me that I would eventually have a child. I didn't believe her for one second." My mom rambled. "But, look at me now. I have my Spence."

"How could she have known that you would be pregnant with me?" I asked her.

"God really favored that woman, I'm telling you. Even down to her final breath she was a special thing. 'Was there for me through thick and thin."

Amelia just nodded along, not daring to say a word. Which was odd.

Suddenly she perked up, a slightly confused grin on her face.

"So, how long have you been in this ol' place for, Ms. Reid?"

"Oh, about a year or two. Time really flies in a place like this. Exactly how long have you two been dating?"

"Four months and twenty-six days." I was surprised as Amelia recited the number before I had the chance to.

"Wow, that's a long time." A nurse came up to us, meaning visiting hours were over.

"Well, it was nice to meet you." She told my mother.

"It was good to meet you, too." My mom shook her hand, and I led my girlfriend back towards the elevator.

"Is everything okay?" I asked her.

"Yeah, why are you asking?"

I shook my head as we exited the lobby. "Nevermind."

Matt was waiting for us in his car. As soon as the two of us were buckled in our seats, he took off towards a nearby hotel.

"How was visiting your mom?" He asked me.

"It was good, really."

"Yeah, Spence's mom is super sweet, I think." Amelia smiled at me. "That's where you get it from."

The three of us arrived at the hotel, and Matt checked us in. We had two separate rooms, but Amelia had to share one with me, which I didn't mind.

I opened the sleek wooden door labeled '103' and set my suitcase down in the corner. The lamps that were placed on the nightstands illuminated the room. The beige curtains covered the small window on the opposite side. The walls were a dull white, and decorative swirls enchanted the ceiling.

Amelia and I hopped onto the bed, sinking into the comfortable mattress. Silence stretched out between the two of us as we snuggled into each other. I played with her short hair, enjoying the time we had to ourselves.

I lightly kissed her ear, making her chuckle as she turned her head to face me. She moved her body so that she was facing me entirely, and pressed her lips to mine. We eagerly and passionately kissed each other. Her hands tangled themselves in my curls and my long arms wrapped around her small body, pulling her closer to me. After a few minutes, the kiss became heated, and my hands snaked to under her hoodie.

Amelia suddenly froze, letting out a breathy "Spencer". I stopped my advances, a little confused as to what was wrong. As I looked at my girlfriend's face, however, my confusion transformed into guilt. She looked terrified. A single tear streamed down her cheek.

"Oh god," I muttered. "I am so sorry."

"It's fine," Amelia said, her voice shaking. "It's my fault, anyway. I should've made my boundaries more clear when we started dating."

"It's not your fault. I was the one who didn't ask if I could go further." I shook my head.

"We definitely need to talk about boundaries." She laughed hollowly and swallowed hard. "Sorry, it's a bit hard to breathe in here."

Immediately I recognized what she meant. I took her into my arms once again and hummed quietly. Amelia let her tears fall and I let her cry on me. At least twenty minutes had passed by before she calmed down.

"Are you up to talk, or do you want to go to sleep and talk about this in the morning?" I asked.

"Yeah, let's talk about this now." Amelia looked up at me. "I'll start, I guess. I like kissing you. A lot. You make me very happy both physically and emotionally. I'm just not comfortable with... yeah."

I processed this for a minute before speaking. "Is there any particular reason, or do you just not feel ready yet?"

She shook her head. "I don't feel ready is one reason, but the other reason is that... I want to wait until marriage."

I smiled at her. "Of course, My Love." Amelia grinned back at me.

"Thank you, Sugar." She whispered, resting her small head on my chest, and soon we fell asleep.
