Best Friend: James Colton

Letting Steeve drag me down the school halls and into his office with his iron grip was not exactly how I wanted to start my monday morning. Mondays were already boring as it was, every normal teenager knew that worldwide. This proceedure happened everyday, I would always be late for school, Mr.Panell would take me into his office and yell at me for being stupid and then I would go to class and continue my day.

I snapped back into reality when Steeve slammed the door shut.

"Alexandra McGreggor how-" He started.

"Sir, we talked about this, don't call me Alexandra, it's a disgusting name and does not suit my original character and personality." I stated.

"Yes you have mentioned, but-" He started.

"No actually, could you just never look in my direction, breath in my direction, think of me or even say my name.... And in return I will solemnly sware to never acknowledge your existence through out the rest of my schooling education. I think that that will solve our on going rounds of conflict. Sounds fair to me, don't you think?" I said.

After finishing my suggestion I put my hands in my pocket and got my unique ipod. Scrolling down, I selected 'toothless hawkins and his robot jazz band'. One thing I cannot live without: music. You will always see me with my headphones in. Take my headphones away and I will personally grab the person who took them off me, climb to the top of the Himalayas and push them off.

Realising it was really quiet, I looked up and saw Mr. Panell's face was an interesting shade of purple. His heart beat was beating loudly in my ears, like a drum kit was three inches from my eardrums.

"Hey are you okay, you look a little upset, what's bothering you?" I asked. "Don't worry you can tell me." I urged thougherly enjoying this.

"Alex your out of control I-" He started to yell.

"Sir I know it's monday... Nobody likes modays, but that's no reason you should be yelling at me and releasing all your anger about your boring life as a hall monitor as well as a principle and conflicting it on me. It's just not fare."

"I can yell at you if I please." He screamed.

"Really because the 'Teachers Regulations' book state differently."

"And what regulation is that?" He snapped.

I started pacing the room. "Rule 23 of the 'Student Space and Regulation rules' state that: When a teacher and a student disagree, that individual student should have the right to give their own side of the story before the teacher gives their opinion and verdict of the students veracity. The teacher thrn may consider the punishment if needed. Teachers should not enforce any sort of conflict such as yelling, physical abuse, verbal abuse ect. The arguement must be civil and swiftly organised in order to keep and happy and cheery realtionship towards a teacher and student." I stopped pacing to look him in the eyes.

"If you don't believe the rule I just recited for you sir, you can find it on page 65 of the 'Teachers Regulations' book or you can go to their website: www.teachingteacherstoteach.com." I finished reciting the rule and went back to my ipod to turn up the song as Mr.Panells heartbeat increased.

"How the hell did you memorise all of that?"

I shrugged.

His face stopped looking angry and changed into a confused one "Wait a minute that rule sounds familiar, that's the official 'Teacher Regulations' book, only the teachers are permitted to see that. How did you get it?" He asked curiously.

"I stole it and memorised it." I said nonchalantly still not looking up from my iPod.

He scoffed. "Is that so, well what teacher would have been dumb enough to let an official document get stolen by someone as vague as you I wonder?"

"Sir, I stole it from you." I stated smugly looking up.

I watched his face slowly drop.

"What did we even come in here to discuss." He said slowly and depressed like.

"I really don't know sir. I didn't care then and I don't care now, can I go now. I'm not really sure if I'm that good of an actor to pretend like I care if your depressed right now, knowing that you just unintentionally insulted yourself." I said with a straight face. Inside I was cracking up laughing, he is so stupid. He's always calling me stupid or vague to try to make him feel better about himself.

"Yeah sure you can leave." He said turning back to his desk and slumping into his chair.

"Okay cool, so... same time tomorrow."

"Alex if you do not get out of my office in 3 seconds you will have detention for a month." He spat angrily.

And he's back, I thought.

I looked at him as if to say 'really? '

I turned my body towards the door whilst still staring at him challangingly, he lookes back at me with the same type of determination.

"One." He said loudly.

Really slowly turning on my spot I started walking to the door in slow motion, testing his patience.

"TWO!" He bellowed.

I took one meter steps really slowly. Every step I took make a squeaking sound agains the wooden floor. I was one meter away from the door now. Everything went silent and my senses were in overdrive, he inhaled really loudly. I jumped the one meter and landed in the corridor.

"THRE-"

"Bye Steeve." I yelled while running down the corridor.

Sprinting down the dull colorless hallway I peeked into each classroom I passed. Harvey Academy was the best school in the country, we had the most qualified teachers for each subject, the school was massive and we were all up to date with the latest technology. I actually liked this school but the down side was that the school consisted of a whole bunch of snobby rich kids getting together with more snobby rich kids. The Academy didn't really have that typical cliché social groups, sure we had the jocks, nerds, populars but we were different from other schools, at Harvey nobody was dumb. Everybody was serious about their studies, everyone was way too eager to learn.

I didn't really fit into any of the groups here, but I was completely fine with that. I didn't want to be hanging around with some petty little barbie dolls bragging about how much richer and prettier they are then anyone else.

Speed walking contently to math I started recalling the events that had happened today. Why was that stranger following me? What was with the snake on his neck? And most importantly why did he have a tattoo printed to say "A.S.S?" Would the tattoo artist have laughed when he requested those letters? All important questions.

I was so deep in thought that I wasn't paying attention to anything around me until I collided with- what felt like the Great Wall of China. With the force of my speed walking and whatever this objects force was, I fell to the floor and my butt was the first to take the hit.

"What the hell." I said frustrated.

I looked up from the floor to see that I had not rammed into the well known Chiness wall, it was a person, a guy. I slowly lifted my head up from his dark blue converses, looking over his attire. Worn dark jeans with rips at the knees and a aqua blue flannel shirt.

"Hey sorry about tha-" I finally brought my gaze to his light blue eyes and perfect hair, I realised that the person I just bummped into was none other the only person I truly hated with a passion: James Colton. Out of the 3000 students that studied here it had to be him that I speed walked into.

"McGreggor." His demon voice said while he glared at me rubbing his chest.

"Well that was close, I almost apologised to you. Now that would have been embarrassing." I said tilting my head upwards because of our differences in height.

"You know, I would've expected the 2nd best spy in the agency to have better reflects. I guess that's what makes you number 2 though, isn't it?" He gloats.

"Man I must have really bashed some knowledge out of you when we just collided. Are you okay Colt? Everyone knows that I'm the best agent in the agency and I'm also better at crumping than you too, add that to the many things you've failed at in life."

"That's a lot of big words coming from someone like you, considering that in the future you'll running the schools janitor business." He smirked. I've never had the urge to rub someones face against the concrete so badly.

"Colton have you seen the test results for the pop quiz that we did on Thursday? I beat you by 2.5% overall. So if I'm running the janitors business in the school then you'll be working for me. Why don't you just hand me your application now so you can be the rubbish boy. It'll make the rejection less painfull because even in the rubbish business I wouldn't even consider accepting a low life such as yourself. You clearly just can't keep up with me." I said smugly.

He glared "You know, I think I like this position. You on the floor almost begging me to help you up." He put his hands on his hips and stared off into- what supposedly was the 'sunset'.

I got up as soon as he finished that sentence, I could not show weekness around him as it would most definitely be herald against me. I would never hear the end to it if he saw me weak.

My response to his ridiculous comment was a glare, as was his. We could stay here for hours just expressing pure hatred to one another through facial expressions.

Minutes past and I suddenly felt really dizzy, like I had been round a merry go round in fast forward a billion times.

I felt a sticky wet substance trail slowly down my arm to the very tip of my fingers. Droplets of red blood fell to the floor. My blood.

My head swayed slightly as my eye sight blurred in and out of focus. James seemed to notice this, because his face morphed into something that looked like... concern? No, a demon such as himself would not be able to feel such an emotion, I thought to myself.

My eye lids fluttered open then half closed with an irregular pattern. My hearing intensified and I could hear every little thing: People writing on their pages in the class rooms, students typing on computers, some 1st grader playing the violin. But something far in the background could just be heard. Someone was calling my name, but I was too dizzy to desifer who it was.

Unable to hold myself up anymore I fell forward slightly until I felt something really warm. I bunched up the strange soft fabric of the object with my hands. The warm object put it's arms on my shoulders to hold me up so I wouldn't have to stand up fully on my legs. After some moments later the dizziness subsided and I could see clearer. My eyes started focusing again so I paid my attention to the strong arms around me. I followed the muscular arms from the long slender fingers to see a worried looking James.

"Alex?" He spoke with a foreign emotion in his voice.

He looked at my blood stained shoulder and turned me around so I had my back against the wall. Slowly but carefully rolling up my sleeve to show the fresh wound I had received from battling the Great Voldemort.

"What... How did you-" He stammered.

Snapping out of my weak and pathetic faze I pushed him back with my good arm, so he stumbled a little backwards. Wincing when my hurt shoulder smacked against his arm.

"Get the hell off me. It's none of your business." I stated coldly. He replaced his worried look with a glare.

"Your welcome by the way, if it wasn't for me, you would have face planted." He spat.

"Well I didn't ask for your help, did I?"

I didn't want help from him, why did I even let him see me so weak, this is pathetic.

"Alex if you don't tell me what happened I will report this to the agency." He said.

"It's aready done, I mean they already know."

He gave me a flat look, urging me to tell him what happened.

I sighed. "Look its none of your business but

"You just want to show don't you." He said folding his arms over his broad chest.

"Oh look at you with a brain." I said like he was some sort of pet.

"I was being followed by a weak minded fictional character named Voldemort, I beat the crap out of him with style of course, put Harry Potter to shame because it look me 20 minutes to beat him and it look Harry 7 books. One thing led to another and he's at the agency being interrogated as we speak." I said.

He scrunched his eye brows together in a thoughtful expression. "Voldemort? You mean like in Harry Potter?"

"Your stupidity surprises me everyday." I said sarcastically.

"Wow your even more messed up in the head today. Are you still going to that anger management class that your mums been sending you to." He said jokingly.

"No I'm not going to those sessions any more. Penny the therapist banned me the day she asked how I knew how to disable a live bomb. So I brought a real one to the session and I accidently set fire to her office; and her cat Tibles is still in hospital because he thought the bomb was a really big cat biscuit. But I'm telling the truth, someone was following me this morning." I said seriously.

He stared at me shocked with those round light blue eyes, I felt uncomfortable under his gaze and continued examining my wound. It didn't hurt too much, as I have a high pain tolerance but it was aching. Blood was still pouring out of it, that's why I felt dizzy; I had been running non stop and I lost a lot of blood. I reached in my school bag and got emergency first aid kit and started briefly cleaning the deep cut.

"Seriously what person in there right mind would blow up Tibles? You know Penny loves that cat. And how did you even get a bomb?" He said shocked

"James we work in what is considered to be the top 'Secret Service organisation worldwide, it's not that had to get a bomb."

I wrapped the bandage around my shoulder and taped it down, it was a thin bandage and the wound would definitely soak through in a while but It would have to do for now.

"You should really get that checked out." James said.

I looked up to see him looking directly at me with his hands deep in his pockets.

"Please." I scoffed "I thought you would know me better by now Colton."

"I don't need help." I said seriously. From the day we've met when we were kids, that's the one thing I constantly reminded him.

I put the wrapper to my bandage in my bag and slung it around my good shoulder.

"But listen, as much as I love standing in the hallway expreesing how much I hate you with many colourful words because my vocabulary is that extensive. I have to go to class and study because unlike you I would like to succeed in life. Bye Colton. I waved at him with a straight face.

I started walking away when I heard his irritating voice again.

"Alright well the next time you'll see me I'll be on the stadium." He said smugly with a smirk on his face.

"What the hell are you talking about?" I said impatiently turning around to see him smiling mischievously.

"We've got C.Y.F tonight."

Dammit I thought the tournament was next week. I thought to myself.

C.Y.F standed for: Challenge Your Fears. The games are apart of the young spy program and training that we have to do every 6 months. It is a series of obsticals that are deadly dangerous, safety is nonexistent in the games. The games have 10 main parts and you verse everyone in the Young Spy training which is about 100 people from all around the world, the agency only accepts the very best agents.

"What? You scared?" He challenged taking slow step towards me.

"No I'm scared of what the agency might do to me if I strangle you with this very band aid in my hand right now." I said with a straight face as I watched his face drop a little.

"And to answer your question, no. No I'm not scared I just can't wait to get started." I finished tilting the corner of my mouth.

I turned to look at him and he had his body leaning against a pole.

"Colton." I nodded with distaste.

"McGreggor." He smirked. The light from the window beside me lighting up his eyes reflecting his humour.

We both turned on our spot and walked our opposite ways down the corridor. Resuming my normal day.
