Just What I Needed (19)

Picture on the side is for Marissa James :) ---------------------->

Sighing, Keely picked up her purse, she'd just gone to see Andy again, and the appointment was finally over. She did like clothes, just not that much.

Walking out, Keely saw a gorgeous girl in the foyer.

She had great big black curls to the middle of her back, her hair was longer than Keely's. She had bright baby blue eyes rimmed with dark lashes and flawless glowing skin, with just a tinge of rose on the cheeks.

"Rachel Gosling," Keely murmured. Here was Seth's girlfriend, and Keely was going to avoid her. She had no reason to talk to the girl, plus she kind of felt bad for her. Keely knew very well that Seth had the reputation in the music business of a guy who went through girls quicker than a person could blink. Her really did have the whole bad boy thing going on for him with the drinking, fighting, getting arrested and the girls. So, yes, she wasn't going to talk to the girl.

Or at least try.

"I know you!" Rachel exclaimed, grabbing Keely's hands between hers.

"You do?" she said hesitantly.

"Yeah," her voice was unashamedly excited. "You're going on tour with my boyfriend. You're Keely Staub."

"And you're Rachel Gosling," she smiled. It was difficult not to respond kindly to the girl, she just looked so excited and happy.

"I really wanted to meet you," she smiled broadly. "I'm friends with Marissa and Jennifer too, and they said such good things about you." Keely couldn't help but feel thankful that she hadn't so far heard anything about her from Seth. "I feel like I know you already."

"Oh, thanks," she was becoming uncomfortably aware that the girl still hadn't let go of her hands.

"We've got to go shopping together," she gushed. "I mean, you're practically going to be like my boyfriend's wife over the tour, I can use you to spy on him!" Rachael laughed. "Here give me your number."

Not seeing anyway out of it, Keely recited her number.

It wasn't as if she had anything against Miss Rachel Gosling, in fact her music was okay, always honest though not always sweet or bitter, it wasn't great but it was better than Marissa or the boy's music... so far. But she had a feeling that if she hung out with Rachel too much, she would be spending the time avoiding questions about someone who was like Taylor's male alias in New York.

"What are you doing here?" Seth asked rudely, coming up behind Rachael, and wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

"Ever try not wearing the sunglasses?" Keely said nastily.

Surprised, Rachel looked up between them. "Okay," she said slowly. Keely looked closely at her, seeing what her reaction to the rudeness that had erupted in front of her, but she almost looked... satisfied?

"I'm going to go try this on," Rachel lifted up her arm that had a dress draped over it, tapping Seth on the chest. "Play nice while I'm gone."

Barely waiting until Rachel left, Seth glared down at Keely.

"What's with you?"

"What's your problem?" Keely retaliated, rubbing her temple in a circular motion against the head ache that was starting, it wasn't the best time to get in a fight.

"Why are you insisting on trying to get in every part of my life? You become friends with my best friends, I have to help you with your music, you have to get yourself on tour with me, and now you're trying to become friends with my girlfriend. Why are you so desperate?"

"You arrogant, self-centred, egotistical-"

"I think we've gone through this already," he rolled his eyes insultingly down at her.

"First of all," she kept her voice low so nobody else could hear. "I want nothing more than to get away from you. I didn't force myself on your friends, they asked me. I don't want your help with my music, I think it's great without getting your dirty hands ruining it, all you care about is making money, and nothing about the music."

He opened his mouth but Keely overrode him, "I didn't choose to go on tour with you. And your girlfriend talked to me, so don't give yourself so much credit, pop star."

"You know nothing about me," he hissed, although Keely couldn't say which of her insults had caused the reaction.

"And you don't know anything about me!" Keely exclaimed. "So don't act like you do!"

"Then why don't you say no to the duet?"

"Because the other members of your band – my friends- asked me if I would, and I would never let anyone down. Not that you'd know anything about that," she growled.

"What are you going to do now? Start crying?" he taunted.

In a move quick as lightening, Keely punched him in the stomach, not holding back for a second. She might not have been the strongest person around, but she was no slouch, she'd punched Joe enough times in practice. As he stumbled back half a step, Keely kept glaring at him. "You have no idea what I was thinking about, and you could never comprehend it seeing as the worst thing in your life was probably not using hair product for a day."

"How does this look?" Rachel asked, twirling out of the change room.

She was wearing a white flowing dress with a low v-neck. Keely smiled at her, "You look great Rachel," she promised, carrying on smoothly. "But I've go to go, I have to meet Marco and Colton at the studio."

"Oh, you're going? Shouldn't you be going as well?" she looked over at Seth.

But he ssent her a strained little grin, apparently taking a leaf out Keely's book. "No, they got it handled for now. I just want to spend every minute with you for now."

Restraining her eyes from rolling was a challenge that Keely barely won. "So, I'll see you later Rachel."

"I'll call you," she promised.

"I hope you do," turning around, Keely narrowed her eyes at Seth as she brushed past him to the door.

"Hey," Keely called barely looking as she pushed open the door that lead into the recording studio room number four.

But she did notice the way Colton held up one finger immediately with his cell phone pressed against his ear. Rolling her eyes while pulling off her leather jacket and throwing it carelessly upon the only table in the studio, Keely had time to wonder vaguely what they were doing for the couple hours they had the studio.

Not paying attention to what Colton was saying, Keely begun digging in the shoulder bag she'd brought with her. But her curiosity was clutched unwillingly when she heard an exclaimed, "Yeah!" from behind her.

Turning around, she raised an eyebrow, "Yeah?"

"Yeah," Colton confirmed grinning from ear to ear.

"At least he didn't yell 'Yeah!' and then punch his fist in the air," Marco pointed out fairly.

During the second long break, where Keely snorted finally retrieving her songbook from the voluminous bag, Colton looked at her closely. There was an undeniably excited look in those bright blue eyes, as he said, "Tell me you love me."

Even at the sound of the word 'love' Keely froze, how could such a careless saying of the word seem to chill her very bones? "But you haven't even took me out for dinner," she teased, making light of the long silence that had occurred.

Being his turn to roll his eyes now, Colt continued, "Guess who I was just on the phone with."

"Jimi Hendrix," suggested Marco.

"Nice one," Keely laughed while giving him a celebratory high five as she lounged back in the chair next him. Even talking to them couldn't get the angry thoughts directed to Seth out her mind, who did he think he was? She wanted nothing to do with him, "Pass a water," Keely called, clapping her hands together as she slouched back in the chair.

"Here," Marco said, running a hand through his dark curly hair as he leaned down to grab the water bottle before passing it through the air towards her.

Making a wild snatch at the water bottle dislodged her from her perch on the seat, ending with her sitting on the ground, but the water was in hand. "This is why we never throw things to me," said Keely in scholarly voice.

"How is anyone that clumsy?" grinned Marco offering a hand.

"Guys, c'mon," Colt complained in a jokingly whiny voice as Keely brushed off her ass.

"I like the Jimie Hendrix idea," she said reasonably.

"Fine, fine, stop jumping up and down in excitement," the tone of Colton's voice was obviously sarcastic. "I'll tell you who I was on the phone with, because I know both of you are dying to hear."

Holding in laughter, Keely finished wiping the dust from her ass and shared a look with Marco as she sat down again.

"I was on the phone with a Miss Maureen Jones."

Now Keely straightened in her seat, her eyes loosing all the mockery to be replaced with fascination.

"Now I've got your attention," muttered Colt, a 'what did you expect?' was murmured under Marco's breath, making Keely's mouth twitch. But - thankfully - Colton chose to ignore it. "I was on the phone with her because we decided that Keely's first released single would be the duet. If she likes the sound of it," added he loyally when he saw her face go instantaneously blank.

"And am I ever going to hear this infamous new song?" she enquired. "Because I've already been attacked just for the fact that I 'might' sing it, so I really think I deserve to hear it."

"You were attacked?" now it was Marco's turn to straighten up in his seat.

"Just by your jackass of a band mate," she rolled her eyes. "Apparently I have some devious plan in mind."

"I am so happy I'm just here to help," murmured Colton.

"What, you mean you don't want to be in the middle of all this drama I'm going to be in the middle of as we go on tour? How could you want to miss that?" Marco asked sardonically.

Holding in laughter once again, Keely touched Marco's shoulder reassuringly as she stood up.

"Don't worry," grinned she. "I'll just ignore him."

"Ignoring Seth is tougher than you think," Marco cautioned.

"And I'm tougher than you'll ever know," her grin broadened. "So are we going to sit around gossiping all day, girls? Or are we actually going to record the next song?"

- Yet another chapter, I think I'm pretty good with the updates. But that might change soon as I will be rewriting some of the scenes - like I said before, I wrote this when I was like fourteen so it's not very good - because they either seem dumb or I want to change where it's going.

Anyways... Do you like who I got for Marissa? I love her eyes!

I'm going to keep going on with my side stories of my sexy neighbour, have I even told you guys his name yet?

He thought it would be a good idea to make me coffee and wake me up at seven this morning. Which would be okay most days, but since I'm not always very good at sleeping and only fell asleep last night at four in the morning, it really wasn't a good idea. Don't worry, I resisted the urge to throw the scalding coffee at his face XD it would ruin the face and we wouldn't want that, now would we?

By the way, I think people should learn to use doors instead of climbling through my bedroom window. It's kind of creepy first of all, and makes me stare at the window all night waiting for some serial killer to come murder me with a rubber duck.

Well, I think I've rambled on long enough now....

Hope you liked the chapter!
