5) Manager Finding Out

Hanni POV

With a cheerful expression, you walked over to the HYBE building exit, happy to be able to leave a bit early. You finished practice and everything on your schedule quickly today, and since everything ran smoothly, you guys were free to do whatever you wanted before curfew.

As you walked out, you glanced at the time and realized that Y/N should still be at work. You wanted to pay a surprise visit to YN since you always loved looking at his adorable surprised expression.

But as you were leaving your company's building, you saw your favorite/head manager, Ms. Lee, leaning on a pillar in the middle of the lobby.

Ms. Lee was the only staff member that made you feel genuinely comfortable at HYBE. When you first moved to Korea from Australia, you couldn't speak an ounce of Korean. Due to the substantial language barrier, you often needed to catch up in class and needed help learning.

But Ms. Lee took it upon herself to help you learn and taught you privately. She would teach you the basics of Korea and help you from the bottom up. Ms. Lee taught you the alphabet, the formal way of speaking, the culture, and much more. You wouldn't be an idol if it weren't for Ms. Lee. She was like your second mother.

However, there was one thing you didn't tell her about. You didn't tell her about Y/N... You always felt terrible since she felt like a parental figure to you, but at the same time, she was your manager. You didn't want the possible chance of your relationship to be exposed, so you kept it a secret.

You constantly went back and forth, wanting to tell her about your significant other, but, in the end, you always chose not to, not wanting to risk your relationship.

As you walked passed, you greeted her.

Hanni: "Hey, Unnie!" you said as you held a peace sign while smiling happily. You quickly ran over and gave her a slight hug.

Ms. Lee: "Heading out?" she asked you, tilting her head.

Hanni: "Yep! We finished early, so I was going to go to the nearby Cafe," you said with a happy expression, telling her your plans.

Ms. Lee: "Ahhhh, going to visit your boyfriend?" she said, with you not realizing what she just said.

Hanni: "Yep!" you said, not thinking about the words that had just left your mouth.

As you realized what had just happened, you looked at her with a shocked expression, with your eyes widened and your mouth dropped. You felt like you were stabbed in the heart, with a hole in your stomach as your skin paled. "I fucked up."

You begin to feel shaky as you look at Ms. Lee's straight face. Maybe you just imagined it, you said, trying to make yourself feel better. You continued the conversation.

Hanni: "S-sorry, I wasn't paying attention," you said. "What did you say again? I just said "yes" randomly. I'm sorry," you said as you prayed to the lord that you had her wrong.

Ms. Lee: "I said, are you going to visit your boyfriend?" she said, as it felt like a shot in the head, ending your life. You tried to act lost with a straight face, not wanting your secret to be exposed.

Hanni: "H-Hahahaha, what boyfriend?' you said, praying that your lies would pull through. "I'm not dating anyone silly..." you said, trying to deny it immediately. You begin to sweat, being nervous, and it doesn't help that you see your second mother with a blank expression.

Ms.Lee: "Do you think I'm dumb?" she asked as you shook your head no in a defeated motion.

Hanni: "No... I don't..." you replied sadly.

Ms. Lee: "I've been caring for you for how long... Of course, I know..." she replied as she looked you in the eyes. However, you broke eye contact as you couldn't face her.

Hanni: "I-I..." you stuttered, not knowing what to say.

Ms. Lee: "You would think that you would trust me by now..." she said, making you feel worse.

You really wanted to tell her, but... You couldn't... She was your manager... It would be too risky... You didn't want to lose Y/N...

Hanni: "I'm sorry..." you replied. "I just didn't want us to break up..." you told her the truth as tears formed slightly in your eyes. "Please don't tell anyone," you said as you prayed, bowing to her slightly.

After you bowed, you saw that Ms. Lee still had a straight face with her hand crossed in front of her chest.

Ms. Lee: "Well..." she said. "Before I say anything, I want to meet him," she said with a serious face, making you scared for the future.

You agreed, and with an anxious mind, you led her to the cafe.
