Chapter 4

SONG: ANCHOR - NOVO AMOR

"Two beers, two steaks." Rose came out of the toilets just in time to join her mother and the man in sitting down for some food and drinks. "What do you what mini-pants?"

"Same as you steak, please." She smiled politely at the waitress taking the orders, Rose took a seat next to her mother getting a bit restless from the long train ride and leaning on her shoulder.

"I consider 5,000 real more than adequate." Lily started to discuss prices as the food arrived.

"10,000, I take you there myself. I am my best captain." He man bragged taking another sip from his drink.

"Oh, and your most modest." Lily rolled her eyes. "Fine, 10,000." Lily went to shake the man's hand, but he pushed it away.

"10,000 to bring you alive. If I have to bring you back dead, it's 15,000." The man made a serious face.

"Why should she pay more dead?" Rose interrupts.

"Dead, I'd have to carry you. Dead's a lot harder, mini-Pants." Rose and Lily rolled their eyes in sync as the man chuckled. "It's like I'm looking at twins here are you two like clones of each other?" The man took another swig of his drink.

"20, dead or alive."

"Fine, but I get paid in full when we turn back-"

"Why would we be turning back?" Rose interrupting again making the man sigh again which only made her smile even more. "If she keeps going on I want to be paid more!"

"Rose go and find your Uncle."

"But-"

"Please Petal just go... for me." Lily sighed in desperation with pleading eyes yet again to her daughter, of course when Lily used that phrase 'for me' Rose would do it no matter what, even though she was troublesome, she still did as she was told, eventually.

Rose sighed heavily standing up walking to the entrance of the restaurant just as she saw her Uncle walk up to where she was with some man in a bright white suit with a hat, slight short and plump man.

"And why am I not surprised to see you here." MacGregor smiled happily at his niece, although he would have preferred her to stay home in London, where she was safe, then again with people after the whole family it wasn't a 100% that she was safe there, but he was still happy she was here. This way he knew she wasn't getting into any trouble although then again nothing stopped the young girl from getting herself into trouble wherever she went or causing trouble, but also as crazy as it sounded due to Lily and Rose being almost exactly alike, MacGregor preferred to have Rose along his side when with his sister as Rose was the main one to stick up for the older man, she was almost like a parent to him which they found amusing.

"Rose I would like to introduce to the man who is going to help us, Rose this is Mr Nilo, Mr Nilo this is my niece, Rose." Mr Nilo took Rose's hand and shook it firmly. "Rose, petal who's that with your mother."

"Not Mr Nilo." Rose scoffed to herself whilst her uncle and Mr Nilo furrowed their eyebrows in confusion especially when Rose stormed back into the restaurant grabbing her mother's arm attempting to drag her away.

"Rose what has gotten into you?!"

"Mum this is Mr Nilo, meaning HE is-"

"Enjoying your meal, Frank?" Mr Nilo snarked towards the man who was sat opposite Lily.

"As in 'Frank owes me money'?! Oh, this is brilliant!" Rose chuckled to herself.

"Um I've negotiated Mr Nilo down to 50,000." MacGregor speaks from behind the two women glaring at Frank, stares that could kill.

"Brilliant, pleasure doing 'business' with you Frank." Lily picked up her things before walking over to Mr Nilo and her brother introducing herself.

"Well, thank you, 'Frank owes me money.' I hope we never meet again." Rose gave Frank a sarcastic smile before joining the other three adults, soon turning around again after hearing Frank behind them whistle.

"12,000." Frank stated a reasonable price which made the three, MacGregor, Lily and Rose's facial expression change from anger towards the man. "10,000." The man stated lower. "You're never going to find a faster boat in the harbour than La Quila. Plus, she has the finest bath in Brazil." This catching both MacGregor and Rose's attention instantly feeling completely fine with going with the man who had just tried to scam them, whilst Lily still had an eyebrow raised in whether she could trust him or not, which she questioned. "I'm the only one that could get you there." MacGregor was about to open his mouth to encourage his sister before he was cut off with a high-pitched scream from the waitress that had served the food earlier on, a jaguar soon appearing from the corner.

Lily stepped in front of her daughter and brother with a protective arm trying to cover them and encourage them to get behind them, Mr Nilo ran off in fear after trying to shoo away the big cat whereas Frank approached it bravely. "Careful. They can smell fear."

"I am not afraid!" Lily's voice shook as she lifted up a fishing hook that had been left on the side.

"He's kind of cute!" Rose stated quietly making Lily and MacGregor stare down at her with questionable looks. "What?! He is!"

"By the way it might have been me. Warm, liquid fear."

"Ewww." Rose mumbled whilst steeping further away from her uncle in disgust. Then Frank vocalised towards the giant cat making it pounce at him, Lily, Rose and MacGregor moving out of the way hurriedly, watching the fight go on every now and then Frank getting bitten on the arm. Frank, eventually, somehow to everyone's amazement, he managed to shoo the jaguar away from the restaurant resulting in everyone cheering, even Lily and Rose gave a small round of applause.

"You are a lot of things that I don't really care for."

"But he's capable." Rose interrupted her mother yet again. "The child speaks the truth." Frank smiles at Rose, with her returning one.

"Right can you two decide whether you like each other or not." Lily sighed rubbing the temple of her forehead with her fingertips. "I'll give you 12,000."

"15,000."

"12,000." Lily demanded again against Frank and before he could protest again Lily denies him and grunts in frustration. "Half now, half upon return, alive, and if we have a deal, we'll meet you at the docks with our luggage."

"We leave in the morning."

"Oh no Frank-"

"Frank owes me money." Rose smirks at the much taller man.

"-we leave in 10 minutes." Lily ignored her daughter not having the energy to deal with her. When Frank began to protest about how to not leave this close to dark Lily still insisted that they would leave on 10 minutes which Frank agreed to.

The three, Lily, MacGregor and Rose went their separate ways from Frank to collect the adult's luggage as Rose had stupidly not bring much, hoping her mother would lend her a few things. When they arrived at the place their luggage had been dumped which MacGregor had a few things to say about, Rose went to pick up one of her Uncle's case's to be helpful but struggled to pick it not knowing what in god's name was in there.

"Rose just go wait at the docks for us!" Lily snapped at her daughter out of frustration already having to deal how she has got to take care of an extra person as well as Frank having got on her nerves. Rose hung her head in embarrassment and shame in getting yelled at by her mum for the first time in what felt like forever, she only got glares from her mother when she was annoyed which became a normality to Rose, so much she found them quite amusing, but this hurt.

"She's only trying to help Lily." MacGregor sighs sticking up for his niece.

"Well, she's not helping, is she? And I don't need parenting advice from you right now MacGregor just get all your stuff onto the boat."

"I'm just saying you need to go easier on her, don't be so tough! She loves you to bits, she feels so special when she's around us, especially you! And you go and give her one of your famous glares or do something like that to make her feel like a failure and worse like she's disappointed you." MacGregor slightly snapped at his sister, to her surprise, having never seen her brother like this, which she knew he was being serious.

Lily shrugged it off, trying to push the thought to the back of her mind having to have full focus on the task and challenge ahead. "Again, MacGregor, I don't need parenting advice from you." Lily lifted her suitcase from the floor walking ahead from MacGregor towards the docks.
