Chapter 19

SONG: NEED YOU NOW - LADY A

After the whole debacle with the sword, Lily helped Frank up as Rose helped her Uncle Mac up, wrapping MacGregor's arm round her shoulder to support him, Lily did the same with Frank as they continued to follow Trader Sam to a safe place. Finally they arrived at some sort tree house. They were lifted in some kind of contraption, like an elevator but made out of wood and branches.

As they entered the house in the tree, Lily asked if there was anywhere, where Rose could sleep knowing Rose was seconds away from falling asleep, her eyes slowly closing, but then opening wide as Rose attempted to stay awake.

Trader Sam pointed to a small room with a small bed which both MacGregor and Rose collapsed onto, immediately falling asleep next to each other, MacGregor ending up holding Rose in his arms as she rested her head on his chest, snoring softly. Lily chuckled at the two, but also shocked at never seeing Rose fall asleep that quick, whilst Frank was driving the boat back to where they were, setting it all up again to leave soon.

Lily sat on the end of the bed lifting both MacGregor's and Rose's legs as she sat down placing them back on her lap, stroking Rose's leg soothingly as she slept, as Lily waited for Frank, humming a lullaby she used to sing to Rose when she was a baby even though she knew she couldn't hear her, it was for her, for her comfort.

A few minutes passed, when MacGregor suddenly shot up, sitting up properly, sighing heavily as he removed his legs from Lily's lap, Lily holding both of his arms to calm him down, Rose's legs still on her lap.

"I dreamt I was lunching at Boodle's." MacGregor sighed heavily relieving Lily making her smile and chuckle.

"Hey, Doctor. We should go." Frank shows outside the room turning his head then quickly leaving as MacGregor tries to lift himself up to stand.

"No, you've done enough." Lily sat him down again. "I mean look at you, you can barely walk!"

"Been through worse, remember when Rose accidentally shut the door on my hand." Lily chuckled at the memory. "Besides I can't leave you alone out there. And even though you're the strongest one out of us Rose still needs me, and I still need her to know she's okay." MacGregor pointed at his sister following her eye direction to Rose, a sad smile on her face. "You know if you leave her without saying goodbye she'll won't speak to you for weeks." MacGregor furrowed his eyebrows at his sister still watching Rose sadly.

"I know." Lily choked out. "But it's the best for her MacGregor. I've put her in so much danger....." Lily suddenly broke down as MacGregor was quick to bring her into a tight hug never have seeing his sister like this, not even when Rose's father left her.

"Hey, hey it's okay,. she'll be okay, she'll understand."

"I can't put her in any more danger. I just made her risk her life for a stupid arrowhead. I can't do it she means to much to me and if it means she'll hate for some time, i can deal with it knowing she was safe." Lily sniffled wiping her cheeks from her tears.

"She'll be fine. She's a big girl, she can handle more than you think, even if she needs you to hold her hand sometimes. But your her mother she'll always be coming back to hold your hand." MacGregor bought Lily into another hug as she let out another sob. "Do I smell?" MacGregor mentally cringed.

"Horrendously!" Lily laughed whilst sniffling.

-----

"I really thought you died." Lily sighed heavily stitching up Frank's wound.

"Were you sad when I died?" Frank smirked at the woman tending to his injury.

"I was very concerned." Lily answered bluntly.

"For my soul?"

"For my expedition!" She slightly glared at Frank. "And for you." she mumbles making Frank smile. "So, what are you? You don't bleed. I think you breathe. You're not possible!"

"I don't know what I am anymore. But I can tell you what I was. My father was a mercenary and he was recruited by Aguirre's father in Algiers." Frank continued his origin story of how he and Aguirre were the closest of friends and Aguirre's daughter had fallen ill.

Like Lily he had heard the legend of the Tears of the Moon and Frank joined him on his quest to find it. How the jungle defeated them one by one but Aguirre didn't give up, they eventually found a tribe who had the Tears of the Moon and used it to heal them, Aguirre was happy but soon turned impatient and began demanding. When his needs weren't met he went on a rampage, Frank knew it was wrong and stood up for him.

When the chief of the tribe was drawing his last breathe his put a curse on everyone to protect his daughter and the Tears of the Moon. Aguirre and Frank were trapped. And they fought over and over again. "I got tired of being stabbed. So I made sure he would never hurt me or anyone else again. I trapped them in a cave where the river couldn't find them." Frank confessed looking down.

Frank continued to explain to Lily about what he did after, building the town making friends, for example many different Proxima's. "Oh, but don't worry, you're my favourite girl." Frank chuckled stroking Proxima as Lily hesitantly joined him as well until Proxima's ear's rose and so did her head at a sound.

"What is it girl?" As soon as Proxima realised it was Rose she let her ears down walking over to Rose, still leaving Lily and Frank in the dark, thinking they were in danger. Rose walked past Proxima scratching her head quickly as Proxima rubbed her head against Rose's leg in pleasure as Rose stormed towards Frank and Lily.

"No goodbye then Mum?" Rose shrugs before storming back down below deck, only wanting to be seen my her mum wanting to know how upset she was.

"WHAT IN THE WORLD?!" Lily exclaimed in shock not expecting you to be there as she stood up and followed you down below deck.
