Chapter 13

SONG: FAST CAR - TRACY CHAPMAN

"Hold still I can't do them neatly if you keep moving." Lily chuckled at her daughter fidgetiness, she get's it from her Uncle she thought, the fact that Rose and MacGregor were so similar it scared her. But the same goes for MacGregor, the fact that Rose and Lily were so similar, Rose was practically a mii version of Lily, it scared him.

"You're pulling too tight I can't help it."

"It has to be a bit tight or it won't stay."Lily braided the last part of the first braid, releasing her bandana scarf from the other half of Rose's hair that was keeping it away whilst she was braiding. "Last little bit then you're done. Lily finished off the braids using her bandana scarf to tie the remaining of Rose's hair in a ponytail. So Rose was left with the top half of her hair braid leading into a ponytail.

"I'm just going to get you some spare clothes, some of mine okay?" Lily headed below deck.

"Okay." Rose's voice agreed. Lily went to go for her small suitcase on the small, rickety bed, but the locked door infront of her, the one she was told specifically by Frank not to open, caught her eye. What could he be hiding in there that he doesn't want the others to see? It couldn't could it? Lily took a bobby pin from her hair and instantly forgot about the one rule, 'Don't go into my quarters, they're off limits.'

"I don't know how you live with that woman. And the girl to be honest. I've been with them for two days, and I already wanna throw them overboard." Frank sighed taking a swig of his whiskey.

"They do take some getting used to." MacGregor chuckled.

"Does Pants ever stop being so..." Frank couldn't find the word for it.

"Lily?" MacGregor practically read his mind as Frank nodded. "Afraid not. Rose aswell. Just like her mother which scares me to death sometimes but Lily is the only Rose looks up to. It's hard to find the way to describe how much that girl adores her mother."Frank shrugged at MacGregor's heartfelt statement.

"What about the kid's father? Does she look up to him as much as she does with your sister?" Frank took another sip of his whiskey.

"Rose's father is... out of the picture, shall we say. Lily was deeply in love with him and felt like he understood her like no one else could. Lily fell pregnant with Rose and she was over the moon, Rose's father however, the second he heard the news he was a soon to be father, he ran.  He left Lily heart broken and alone with a new born baby. But Lily didn't care as much as we thought, as she had a new love in her life."

"Rose." Frank finished with a smile.

"Rose has always blamed herself for her father leaving Lily. And no matter how much we tell her the truth and deny it she will blame herself forever."

"Well she's still a character." Frank smile genuinely. "Just like her mother. Your sister says whatever she wants to whoever she wants to say it. No regard for anybody's feelings."

MacGregor chuckled. "Doesn't matter who gets hurt. Usually me. She takes after our father. He was always chasing after some far-fetched idea. There's no such thing as curses. Or cure-alls. And there hasn't been a conquistador here for three centuries." Frank hummed along in agreement.

"Is Rose close with her grandfather then seeing as she is just like Lily, meaning she's like her grandfather."

"Not really." Frank furrowed his eyebrows. "Rose has never met her grandparents, and that's my fault and i will forever blame myself. It was the third time that I'd been presented with an entirely suitable marriage to a charming, educated woman that sits on a horse well, that I had to tell the lady in question that I couldn't accept the offer. Or, indeed, any offer, given that my interests happily lie... elsewhere."

"Elsewhere?" Frank repeats his statement.

"Elsewhere." MacGregor confirms as Franks hums, showing no sign of opposition.

"Uncle threatened to disinherit me, friends and family turned their backs... all because of who I loved. I would've been ostracised from society were it not for Lily. And Rose has stood up and supported my ever since she could talk. Rose was famous there because of who her Uncle lived and having a single, adventure-chasing mother, that the society disapproved of."

"Rose went to school?" MacGregor nodded.

"There was a time where she overheard a bunch of kids talking bad about me, all because of who I loved, talking bad about her Lily, saying the whole family was normal except from us three and that there must be something wrong with us. Rose stood up for us, she stood up for the ones she looked up to. That day she came home with a black eye, cuts and bruises and a grazed knee."

"God!" Frank muttered.

"That day we took her out of school and began to home school her. Rose and Lily gave up having friends and other family all to stand by me and make sure I'm not alone. They stood by me. And for that, I would follow them into a volcano.

------

"Pant's let's shove off!" Frank shouted for Lily not knowing where she was as MacGregor and Frank boarded the boat again.

"She's below deck she said she was getting spare clothes but she's taking ages." Rose explained stroking Proxima. Frank sighed as he ran below deck, next came arguing from below deck, MacGregor and Rose thought they'd be best left out of it.

MacGregor stood next to Rose as she continued to stroke Proxima, who was purring non-stop.

"She won't hurt Uncle Mac." Rose smiled up at her Uncle looking at Proxima hesitantly.

"Fine!" MacGregor sighed. "I'm going to pet you now. And you're not going to eat me." MacGregor spoke to the big cat as Rose chuckled at him. "Understood?" Proxima growled softly. "Easing in. About to engage." MacGregor narrates his action as he finally begins to pet Proxima, surprise filling his face.

"You're not that bad really, are you, for a big, hairy murder cat?" Proxima snorts and huffs. "I don't usually offend so immediate-" MacGregor suddenly gasps immediately concerning Rose.

"Uncle Mac." she called out as he fell to the floor. Before she could notice the mini tranquilizer arrow in M<acGregor butt, Rose was also shoot wit one in her shoulder.

"Mum!"

"Rose?!" Lily rushed up to deck seeing Rose, MacGregor, and Proxima passed out on the floor. Before she is shoot with one falling backward, Frank quickly catching her before he is shoot with one.
