Chapter 10

SONG: EVERYWHERE - FLEETWOOD MAC

"All right, we're about to hit the butter churn. Ready, Pants? Mini-Pants?" Frank asked the two women strapping the last of the lose luggage to keep it safe.

"You sure this is the only way?" Rose asked, now slightly panicking but she'd never let it show.

"Your mother choose it." Lily glared at him. "She wanted to save two days. We can turn back and go the other way, if you're scared?" He smirked at Rose.

"Offer what do I have to be scared about?" Rose shrugged and scoffed but mentally screaming with worry.

"Uh, "butter churn," how literal a metaphor?" MacGregor appeared form below deck.

"If you have anything of value I suggest you store it below deck." Frank suggested.

"Since I consider myself of value, I will see you all on the other side." MacGregor smile then walked off below deck, Lily following after him beckoning her daughter to follow her as well.

"Wait a minute. MacGregor. Wait. Wait, wait, wait." Lily grabbed her daughters wrist and dragged her in front of her and guided her towards her Uncle. "Take Rose down there with you." She unhooked something from round her neck. "Take this as well, keep it safe." She placed the Arrowhead in a handkerchief, wrapped it ip and handed it to her brother as he went below deck.

"No arguing go down with Uncle Mac please Petal." Lily knew her daughter would argue with her wanting to stay up on deck with her. Lily placed both hands on top of Rose's head smoothing out her greasy hair, resting the palms of her hands on either side of her face bringing her closer as she placed a kiss upon Rose's forehead.

"Be safe." Rose hugged her mum.

"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine." Lily held her daughter closer.

"It's been lovely knowing you." Rose smirked as she made her way down the steps below deck.

"Don't say that." Lily smiled as she rolled her eyes.

"Oh Bugger." Rose heard her Uncle sigh, slightly shakily.

"What's wrong?"

"Ruddy cat again."

"Hi gorgeous!" Rose made her way to the cat, kneeling down in front of it petting it and giving it loads of attention with not a care in the world.

"Are you mad?!"

"What you won't hurt a fly will you darling?" She chuckled tickling underneath the jaguars chin, Proxima enjoying it and falling completely in love with the girl showing no sign of hurting her or being a threat.

"So you are mad!!"MacGregor pushed past the two going up back up to deck.

"What's wrong now?!" The girl could practically seeing her mothers eyes roll at her brother.

"Ruddy cat."

"What's Rose doing?"

"Being a mad woman and petting the same thing." The little snitch. Rose knew any moment now her mother would flip and worry about it too much. 3...2....1.

"ROSE DOROTHY HOUGHTON CAN'T IP HERE NOW!"

"I'll be back Proxima I promise." The girl patted the jaguars head softly making her purr as she sighed making her way back up the stairs to her mother, Frank and her Uncle Mac. "Thanks for snitching on me Uncle Mac."

"Mad girl." She heard him mutter.

"What have I told you?" Lily sighed.

"Proxima wouldn't hurt a fly!" Frank shrugged involving himself in the conversation. "And besides she loves Rose from what I've seen."

"See!" Rose pointed to Frank as he stood her for her point.

"Just please, she nearly tried to eat your Uncle last night!"

"Only because he was wearing that horrible stuff on his face and she probably liked the smell of it, can't imagine why, but it's animal instincts." Rose sighed crossing her arms seeing nothing wrong with Proxima.

"Just please for my sake just leave the cat."

"Jaguar." She corrected Lily under her breath, Lily still hearing it and giving her disgusted a glare then leaving the conversation topic alone not wanting to get into an argument.

"Here we go." Frank took a deep breath as he took control of the wheel seeing the rapids as they approached closed and closer. Lily and MacGregor instantly held onto each other, by linking arms with each using their spare arms to wrap round Rose to keep her safe, that was both of their main priority.
